00:00This guy's going to slip up.
00:03That's when we nail him.
00:04Let's get busy.
00:08I'm John Walsh, and I've dedicated my entire life to locking up the worst criminals.
00:14We're tracking down one of the most ruthless gangs of lawbreakers we've ever fought after.
00:21My son Callahan and I are fired up.
00:24With your help, we're coming for fugitives, hunting them down and putting them right where
00:28they belong, behind bars, including these that you'll see tonight.
00:34Cops say he allegedly gunned down a couple in cold blood, burned their bodies, and vanished
00:39into the woods like a ghost.
00:42We're on the hunt for Dylan Harrington.
00:44Then, a young mother of three, five months pregnant, shot to death in her car.
00:50The man who allegedly pulled the trigger, her boyfriend.
00:54We need your help to find Hector Medina Grajeda.
00:58And later, he was a respected school principal.
01:02Now he's facing a mountain of sex crimes against children.
01:05Everything was shattered in that one moment.
01:08We're on the trail of an accused predator, Jonathan Ulrich.
01:13America's Most Wanted is the original true crime series, and we're back.
01:19You can run, but you can't hide.
01:21Hello everybody.
01:22I'm John Walsh.
01:23And I'm Callahan Walsh.
01:25And this is America's Most Wanted, all new and back with a vengeance.
01:29Tonight we're tracking down suspected predators, killers, and violent offenders who think they've
01:34disappeared, including an alleged squatter who murdered a retired couple at their mountain
01:39retreat.
01:40We'll talk with YouTube host Flash Shelton, known as the Squatter Hunter, about these
01:45dangerous and sometimes deadly intruders who take over homes.
01:49With your tips, this guy could be a whole lot closer to a jail cell than he thinks.
01:54And to date, you've helped us take down 1,198 fugitives, each capture bringing answers and
02:00justice to families torn apart by violence.
02:03One thing never changes at AMW.
02:05You can run, but you can't hide.
02:08Let's get to work on our first case.
02:10Dave and Gerilyn Covey were devoted parents and proud grandparents, soulmates who shared
02:16a quiet spot in the Washington wilderness.
02:19But what started out as a wonderful weekend getaway turned into a deadly nightmare.
02:25Authorities urge residents to be on the lookout for a 25-year-old man.
02:30It was just so shocking.
02:33Two senior citizens were murdered and burned up.
02:38The gruesomeness of this, it doesn't make any sense.
02:48My relationship with my mom was very close.
02:50You know, she was a single mom that raised me.
02:56She was an incredible person.
02:58She was single.
02:59My dad, Dave, was single.
03:01It just kind of hit it off from there.
03:04Go get it!
03:06Dave and my mom made each other very happy.
03:08They got married June 19, 1999.
03:12They definitely were living their golden years, enjoying life.
03:16When not spending time with friends and family, Gerilyn and Dave Covey retreated to their
03:21weekend getaway in Chesaw, Washington.
03:25It was beautiful.
03:27It was green.
03:29And they loved it up there.
03:31But as beautiful as it is, there's just kind of an evil and sadness.
03:46The property in the winter was generally shut down due to the extreme weather.
03:51But my mom discovered that her power bill increased in the middle of winter.
03:58She knew there should be absolutely zero power usage up there at that time.
04:03So they went up there to see if something was going on.
04:08I had called my mom over the weekend, and she didn't answer, which is extremely uncommon
04:14for her.
04:15After two days of no contact, Debbie and Dean get a call that their parents' pickup truck
04:20has been found about a mile from their Chesaw property with one of their dogs inside.
04:26At that moment, I knew something was wrong.
04:28My mom was not going to leave her truck, and my mom would never leave those dogs.
04:34We were just worried.
04:36And I told my husband, I think we need to go up and look for him.
04:40And I'm going to call the sheriff's office.
04:44My husband and I drove immediately up there.
04:48Proceeded to Chesaw.
04:50We just aren't sure what we're going to run into.
04:55When we first get there, we went straight to the trailer.
04:59You could tell they had not been there.
05:01They had not slept there.
05:02They had not cooked there.
05:05I saw fresh footprints.
05:08I thought it was really strange.
05:10So we followed the footprints.
05:13The tracks led Steve and the deputy to a neighboring property where they discovered
05:18a dilapidated cabin.
05:21It's an old homestead.
05:23Most of the roof was fallen in.
05:24I proceeded to walk in, and somebody has been there.
05:32Somebody was squatting.
05:33And there was this motorcycle.
05:36One of Dave's bikes.
05:39What is it doing in this cabin?
05:42Things weren't adding up.
05:44We were all really worried about what was going on.
05:48At the back side of the cabin, I see a man.
05:51I yelled at him, freeze.
05:53He looked at me and then took off.
06:00In the dilapidated cabin, they found boxes addressed to Dylan Harrington.
06:07So my officers ran a query search on Dylan Harrington.
06:11It showed that he was 25 years old.
06:13Doing our interviews with members of the community, we found that Dylan lived below the radar.
06:20He was living off-grid.
06:21He would work odd jobs to survive.
06:24We didn't come back with anything of major concern.
06:29Darkness falls on day three of the Covey's disappearance, and hopes dim as the search
06:34resumes the following morning.
06:37Something's really, really wrong now.
06:40Where could they be?
06:42The search ramped up.
06:44I started to walk around the area.
06:48Near the door of the Covey's fifth wheel trailer, you could see a substantial amount of blood
06:55in the snow.
06:57And then deputies located a path down to a burn pile that had a wooden structure on top
07:05of it.
07:09Underneath that structure, I observed what looked like two charred bodies.
07:16We believe that Dylan Harrington is the suspect in the homicides.
07:23The sheriff said that he had found their parents, however, that they had been murdered.
07:34Their whole life changes in a second.
07:36It's just devastating.
07:40Let's take a closer look at the suspect, Dylan Harrington.
07:43He's Caucasian, 29 years old, has brown hair and hazel eyes, is 5'9 and weighs 145 pounds.
07:50Harrington is a survivalist, able to live off the land for extended periods in rugged
07:54and remote areas.
07:55The U.S. Marshal Service is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Harrington's
08:01capture.
08:03Coming up, investigators piece together Dave and Gerilyn Covey's final moments and how
08:09they walk straight into a killer's path.
08:11Then, a pregnant mother of three is found shot dead in her car.
08:16We need your tips to find the dirtbag who allegedly pulled the trigger and vanished
08:21without a trace.
08:22And later, a trusted school principal facing child sexual abuse charges ditches his ankle
08:28monitor in bolts.
08:32First, we need your tips to help us find this lowlife.
08:35Please, take a good look.
08:38Washington, D.C., a late-night burglary where these three thieves make out with thousands
08:44in merchandise.
08:46Just before 3 a.m., a dark-colored sedan slowly pulls up to the Creep Clothing Smoke Shop
08:53on Minnesota Avenue.
08:55Suspects approach the building, one holding a brick in his hand.
08:59Minutes later, that brick smashes through the glass.
09:03It's calculated burglary.
09:05The three suspects grab electronics, merchandise, and anything they can carry.
09:11One by one, they climb over the counter into the employee-only area.
09:16On surveillance, a suspect is clearly seen rummaging through a storage closet, digging
09:22through boxes like he knows exactly what he's looking for.
09:26The suspects, believed to be three black males, are seen wearing dark hoodies and face
09:32coverings.
09:33If you recognize any of these suspects, call 866-AMW-TIPS or go to amwtips.com.
09:44You don't want to miss what's next.
09:53Now welcome back.
09:54A sweet retired couple heads to their mountain home, only to be ambushed and murdered.
10:00Now the suspect, Dylan Harrington, is on the run.
10:09Who would find two senior citizens and brutally murder them?
10:15From that burn pile, investigators located footprints leading down to Dylan's cabin.
10:23Inside the cabin was firearms and ammunition, confirmed stolen from a burglary the previous
10:29summer.
10:34I believe when the Coveys arrived at their property, they surprised the suspect.
10:41They threatened that they were going to call the sheriff's office, at which time he panicked
10:45and then he allegedly shot them.
10:48Then he dragged their bodies to the fire pit and allegedly sets their bodies on fire.
11:01What was left of them after what he had done could fit in a small cardboard box.
11:05I mean, it was unbelievable.
11:11Over $10 in power.
11:14I don't dwell on how they died, but I know that they're okay.
11:27We're not, but they are.
11:31The last known sighting of Dylan Harrington was on February 15th, 2022, the day Steve
11:38Springer spotted him near the cabin.
11:43We believe Dylan has adapted to slip through the cracks.
11:48He did not have a job.
11:49He did not have an active bank account, very little use of social media.
11:55We believe Dylan Harrington is armed and dangerous.
11:59I believe Dylan Harrington could do this again, and it would be not even a hiccup in his life.
12:06When he is apprehended, I'm hoping justice is served.
12:08It just takes one person to say something.
12:11I don't think it's important, but it is.
12:18Joining us now is Flash Shelton, known as the Squatter Hunter, host of his own popular
12:22YouTube show, a nationally recognized force taking on squatters, exposing scams, and fighting
12:28for homeowners across the country.
12:30Thanks for being here.
12:31Thanks for having me.
12:32Absolutely.
12:33Now, just like the Harrington case, you noticed a spike in the electric bill that tipped you
12:37off to squatters in your mother's home.
12:39Yeah, that's correct.
12:41My father had passed away.
12:42I moved my mom in.
12:43We tried to sell the house, and there shouldn't have been anyone there.
12:46There shouldn't have been an electric bill.
12:48And then I witnessed three cars and seven people walking out of the house that morning
12:52while I was watching the property.
12:53That's crazy.
12:54I mean, what's going through your mind?
12:55All I could think of is if they could take a house, I could take a house.
12:59So I got seven squatters out of my house in less than a day.
13:03Wow.
13:04And now you help others get squatters out of their homes.
13:06Yes, because for squatters, it's a game to them.
13:10They might look like your neighbor, but they're able to put their head down on their pillow
13:13and sleep at night knowing that they're absolutely tormenting and destroying families.
13:19What do you think Dave and Gerilyn could have done differently now, looking back, when they
13:23noticed that electric bill rise?
13:26What should they have done?
13:27Well, I mean, I promote cameras and security system.
13:31You know, there's got to be some way of documenting things, an alarm system.
13:35If somebody goes into your house, you'll have law enforcement response.
13:39The other thing is you can register a non-trespass with the local law enforcement.
13:44So if someone is there, they can be arrested on the spot.
13:48That's a great tip.
13:49Based on your experience with squatters, do you think Harrington is a professional or
13:53just a desperate kid?
13:55At the time of the murders, he had only been living this way for about a year.
14:01So I didn't see him as a professional squatter.
14:04I felt that he was trying to find his own way.
14:06At this point, he has years of experience, and I believe that his survival skills have
14:11kicked in, and he's used to now living like this.
14:15Likely getting better and better at his craft.
14:17Yes.
14:18He is going to be in remote locations, possibly a campground, and he's going to be going on
14:23the outskirts.
14:24I think trail cameras, when you're looking for someone like this individual, can be very
14:28useful.
14:29Now, Dylan was local to the area.
14:31So what should AMW viewers be on the lookout for?
14:34Well, we know that he was doing odd jobs for a living.
14:38He might have a handyman mentality of doing things for neighbors and, you know, whatever.
14:45Cash under the table.
14:46Cash under the table.
14:47He's most likely not working a regular job.
14:50That means that he has good resources in the area, friends, people that might trust him.
14:55So reach out to them and appeal to them to help him do the right thing.
14:59You've got your own network of these squatter hunters out there trying to help you do what
15:03you do best and get these homes back to the rightful owner.
15:07But in a case like this, I'm sure your viewers would eat this up.
15:10You know, my viewers are very vigilant.
15:12Even when dealing with somebody who just wrote a bad check, I think this is going to hit
15:16home with them.
15:17And if they notice anything about anyone, I expect them to bring it to you.
15:23With the AMW viewers and the squatter hunter viewers, this world's going to be a lot smaller
15:27place for this guy.
15:28I agree with that, 100 percent.
15:30Clash, thanks for being here.
15:31Really appreciate it.
15:32Thanks for having me.
15:34Let's take another look at Dylan Harrington.
15:36He's Caucasian, 29 years old, has brown hair and hazel eyes.
15:40He has facial hair on his chin, but he may be shaved.
15:43He was last seen in Chesaw, Washington, when Dave Covey's son-in-law spotted him near the
15:48cabin.
15:49Harrington has family ties to OMAC and Spokane, Washington, but he may have slipped across
15:54the border to Canada or across state lines to Idaho or Montana.
15:59The U.S. Marshal Service is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Harrington's
16:04capture.
16:05Call us at 1-866-AMW-TIPS or go to our site, amwtips.com.
16:11Coming up, she was a loving mother, sister and friend, pregnant with her fourth child
16:17when she was brutally murdered.
16:19Now, her heartbroken family needs your help to bring this alleged killer to justice.
16:26Stay with us.
16:29Welcome back.
16:37Cindy Cardenas was a devoted mother trying to break free from a toxic relationship.
16:43But when she went to confront her boyfriend one last time, she drove straight into a deadly
16:49trap.
16:52I'm so angry.
16:55She was a mother of three little girls.
16:57She was actually pregnant with her fourth little girl.
17:00They don't have their mom anymore.
17:09My name is Abigail Garcia.
17:11I am Cynthia Cardenas' niece.
17:14She was like a sister to me.
17:17She was my best friend.
17:18I'm taking a video.
17:21Cindy was a great mom.
17:23She was always smiling.
17:25She loved her so much.
17:28She was 22 when she got married.
17:30She had two little girls first, and then the last one came six years later.
17:36She always made sure the girls had everything they needed.
17:40When Cindy and her husband separated, she started having a little fun for herself, something
17:44that for many years, she really didn't do.
17:48She started to get out there.
17:51She would go to the bar, you know, she was having a good time.
17:55And then Hector came along.
17:59Hector was just Cindy's type.
18:02He was manly.
18:03He had the muscles, and she was attracted to his physical appearance.
18:07He just came from Mexico about six months ago.
18:10He really didn't speak any English, and that's truly all we knew of him.
18:17He really didn't engage with anyone.
18:19Hector's relationship with Cindy just seemed more possession than love.
18:24It was never love.
18:25No.
18:26It didn't look like love.
18:30A few months passed, and Cindy finds out that she's pregnant.
18:35She calls me.
18:36She tells me, I truly believe Hector's not the father.
18:40Hector ended up saying, I want to be here for you and the baby.
18:43I couldn't believe that he was fine with that.
18:46You know, Hector didn't seem like the type to raise another man's child.
18:55On August 27th, 2022, we were celebrating my cousin Juan's birthday.
19:01Happy birthday to you.
19:06Cynthia was there, and she was happy.
19:09Her bump was showing.
19:11We were all just having fun, and all of a sudden, Hector showed up, and just everything
19:17changed.
19:18Hector's seeing one of the cousins talking to Cindy, and then he goes out of control.
19:24I thought he was going to shoot me.
19:36Suddenly his brother, Eliasad, came and grabbed Hector, and they ran off.
19:44I think that's when Cindy realized, like, how dangerous Hector was.
19:48I think she was terrified.
19:50Cindy wanted to keep her girls safe, and she was pregnant with a baby girl.
19:55After that night, it wouldn't be acceptable anymore to have Hector around.
20:01She ended up driving back to Bessemer that night to end things with Hector for good.
20:08That was the last time I heard from her.
20:17We kept calling her and calling her, and Cindy never answered the phone.
20:23Something in me just told me, you have to go.
20:27When I first got to my aunt Cindy's, I see her car is running.
20:34Cindy was kind of slumped over.
20:36I said, Cindy, wake up.
20:38Did you fall asleep?
20:40And I pulled my hand back, and it was covered in blood.
20:45I just pulled up to my aunt's house, and, I mean, she's bleeding.
20:52Cindy.
20:53Oh, my goodness.
20:54She's not responding.
20:55When I arrived on scene, there was blood on the dashboard.
21:00It appeared the victim was shot at close range.
21:05I noticed no signs of a struggle at all of her trying to get away or someone trying to
21:08get at her.
21:09I don't think she even saw it coming.
21:13Let's take a closer look at Medina Grajeda, who's wanted for capital murder.
21:17He's a Latino male, 28 years old, 5 foot 8 inches tall, and 175 pounds.
21:23If you recognize him or have any information on his whereabouts, we want to hear from you.
21:27And remember, you can remain anonymous.
21:30Call us at 1-866-AMW-TIPS or go to amwtips.com.
21:36Coming up, police zero in on how the suspect got away and a brother who provides the first
21:42big break in the case.
21:44And later, a school principal accused of child sex crimes cuts off his ankle monitor, leaves
21:50a chilling goodbye note, and slips into the night.
21:56But first, we really need your help tracking down these dirtbags.
22:02Chevy Chase and Bethesda, Maryland.
22:04Shocking footage of defiant young crooks loading up on stolen merch in broad daylight.
22:11Police say seven thieves ripping off major retailers made off with thousands of dollars
22:17in goods over a four-month period.
22:19And talk about brazen.
22:21The crew even robbed some stores more than once.
22:24The heist began in August 2024.
22:27A CVS employee filmed this lowlife stuffing what looks like gallons of detergent into
22:33a huge tote.
22:35Two months later, at a Gap clothing store, watch as one perp throws piles of sweaters
22:40into a bag, while a cohort scoops up kids' clothing by the handful.
22:46Police believe these shady shoplifters are connected to at least 11 incidents in four
22:52locations across the county.
22:54On April 3rd, 2025, 24-year-old Tyrone Harrington, the alleged ringleader, was arrested.
23:02Also arrested, Earlyanna Lakeish Brown.
23:05A person of interest has been identified as 39-year-old Ernest McEachin, but there
23:11are still four suspects at large.
23:14If you recognize them, send us your tips at 866-AMW-TIPS or go to amwtips.com.
23:23More cases after the break.
23:33Welcome back.
23:34Three little girls are now motherless after Cindy Cardenas was allegedly gunned down by
23:41her coward boyfriend.
23:42I'll talk to Cindy's family in a moment about the heartbreak they're living every day.
23:48But first, detectives piece together the suspect's escape and discover where this alleged killer
23:54might be headed.
24:00Cindy Cardenas was pronounced dead at 5.51 AM, and it appeared that she'd probably been
24:04dead for a couple hours.
24:05We definitely want to find out what happened in the wee hours of the morning.
24:10Why would you shoot her?
24:12Why would you kill her while she was five months pregnant?
24:15Deep inside, we all know who did it.
24:21We believe that Cindy went to end things with Hector for good that night, which could have
24:27triggered him.
24:32One thing we learned about Hector, that he did not drive.
24:36Hector always called her out with his friend, Ramon.
24:40We want to talk to Ramon because we know he drove Hector to the party that night.
24:44And then we lucked out on finding Ramon's truck because it hit our traffic cameras.
24:48We put him in the area of Cindy Cardenas.
24:52This connects Hector and Ramon on the morning that Cindy was killed.
24:56We went by Ramon's house, found Ramon in his bedroom.
25:01At that point, we ended up detaining him.
25:03So I advised him to tell the truth, the whole truth.
25:07Ramon was very reluctant about talking, but I could tell that he was nervous.
25:11It took probably an hour or two to get him to break.
25:22What city was it?
25:27Ramon also tells us that he drove Hector and his brother, Eliezer, to Lebanon, Tennessee,
25:34where they threw their phones out the window.
25:36They were truly on the run.
25:38By the time we got our warrant, Hector and his brother was gone.
25:47Ten days after Cindy's murder, police finally catch a break.
25:52I got a call from Laverne Police Department, south of Nashville, Tennessee.
25:57They had Eliezer in custody.
25:59He turned himself in to them.
26:01So they asked him where his brother was, and he said his brother went in the woods to kill
26:04himself.
26:05Allegedly, allegedly, allegedly.
26:10So they went to that area and they found nothing.
26:14I think Hector told him to turn himself in and get him off his trail.
26:19Hector is still somewhere out there, getting to live his life.
26:35I think it's been the two worst years of our lives.
26:43And I miss her, like, just her.
26:50If I was able to talk to her, I just would want her to know that we love her.
26:56We think about her daily.
26:57We all do.
27:01But it's just tough.
27:04Cindy's killer didn't just destroy her life.
27:07He destroyed all of our lives.
27:10I'm now joined by Cindy's sister and niece, Myra and Abby.
27:15First, I'm so sorry for your pain.
27:17Thank you for being so brave to come here today.
27:20And I'm hoping that we can end that pain and catch this coward.
27:23Thank you, sir, for having us.
27:25Do you know how this relationship got so toxic?
27:28We actually don't know how it started.
27:31One time we went out to eat, you know, only girls.
27:35And then my sister received a message and said, what are you doing in that restaurant?
27:40And she was like, how he knows we're here?
27:42So he was obsessive, possessive creep.
27:45Yes, sir.
27:46Did Hector get more aggressive when Cindy got pregnant?
27:49I think he tried to control her more.
27:52I actually think my sister didn't want him around.
27:56We actually think that she probably wanted it finished after what he did that night in
28:01the party.
28:02What did he do at the party?
28:03He just thought somebody was looking at my sister.
28:07He got a gun out.
28:08I'll try to say, like, put that away, there's kids.
28:11And he just aggressively got it and pointed it in my face.
28:14I thought I was going to die, you know?
28:15You did?
28:16Yes.
28:17Right.
28:18I couldn't say nothing else.
28:19I was, like, in shock, like, silenced.
28:22And I told her, like, you know, it's time to get away, you know?
28:28And I know she was trying to get away from him, but he would not let her get away, you
28:35know?
28:36And now it's too late to ask for stuff like that, you know?
28:39How pregnant was she?
28:41She was five months.
28:42Five months.
28:43So she was along.
28:44She was.
28:45People need to turn this coward in before he flips again.
28:49What did he do for a living?
28:50He installed fire sprinklers in buildings.
28:54Right.
28:55So that's a good clue.
28:56They would travel to different states, you know?
28:58And when that happened, they would travel in Tennessee, you know?
29:02They also worked in North Carolina prior in the past.
29:05He's out there somewhere else.
29:07He could be starting a whole new life with another woman.
29:10She might have no clue how dangerous he really is.
29:13Right.
29:15If you could go back in time to that party, what would you tell your sister?
29:19You know, we're all so close.
29:23I just wonder why you didn't feel comfortable telling us how dangerous he was.
29:31You know how we all would have jumped in to help.
29:36And I'm so sorry that, you know, you didn't feel like you could.
29:43What would it mean to your whole extended family if he was captured?
29:46It would mean to bring us some peace.
29:50Peace.
29:51So know that somebody that is a terrified person and so dangerous is off the roads.
29:57You're a brave lady.
29:58You know that.
29:59Your whole family's brave.
30:00You're honoring your sister.
30:02And this guy has to be caught.
30:04He's beyond dangerous.
30:06We're going to do our best to hunt this guy down.
30:08He can run, but he can't hide.
30:10And I am praying it comes soon, because this family deserves some peace.
30:14Thank you so much.
30:15Thank you so much for having us here and giving us the opportunity to talk about her case.
30:21Having hope now.
30:22A little bit of hope.
30:23It was great meeting you, and hopefully the next time I see you, it'll be a happier time.
30:27Yes, sir.
30:29Cal, let's take another good look at Hector Medina-Grejeda.
30:32He's a Latino male, 28 years old, 5'8", and weighs 175 pounds.
30:37Medina-Grejeda is wanted for capital murder in the death of Cindy Cardenas, who was found
30:41shot to death in Bessemer, Alabama.
30:44The suspect was driven to Lebanon, Tennessee, by his brother and a friend, where he spent
30:48the night in a hotel and threw away his cell phone.
30:51Other places Medina-Grejeda could be hiding.
30:54Police got a tip he could be in Little Rock, Arkansas.
30:57He also has family in several places, like North Carolina, where he has a brother, and
31:01Chenepas in Sinaloa, Mexico, where he has more family.
31:04If you have any information on Medina-Grejeda's whereabouts, your identity will be protected.
31:09Call us at 1-866-AMW-TIPS, or go to amwtips.com.
31:16Coming up, a respected school principal is accused of horrific child sex crimes and disappears
31:22without a trace.
31:23Now we really need your help to lock him up for good.
31:27Then, survivor and victim advocate Kara Robinson-Chamberlain, herself abducted as a teen, joins us to
31:34help track him down.
31:36You can make a difference.
31:47Welcome back.
31:48He was the picture of trust, a respected elementary school principal, until he was unmasked as
31:54a child predator.
31:56Jonathan Ulrich was about to face some very tough justice.
32:00Then, he ripped off his ankle monitor and vanished.
32:03Now we want to warn our viewers, this is some disturbing stuff.
32:07Parental discretion is advised.
32:10Jonathan Ulrich is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
32:15I'm Hamila Anderson.
32:17I'm an assistant district attorney general for the 22nd Judicial District.
32:21The allegations in this case are rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.
32:28At the time these crimes occurred, Jonathan Ulrich was a first grade elementary school
32:33teacher.
32:34I met Jonathan Ulrich when I worked in a school where he was the principal.
32:41I was teaching there and we just began talking.
32:45He was very intelligent and charming.
32:49He was very well respected.
32:51In fact, he was awarded Teacher of the Year one year.
32:56We courted for about a year before we got married.
33:00I really thought that I had found someone, but over the years, Jonathan seemed to change.
33:09He became more agitated and he would even say he had a dark side that nobody knew about.
33:17One day, I had a conversation with children close to our family.
33:22These children revealed to me that Jonathan had touched them inappropriately.
33:29Everything was shattered in that one moment.
33:31It was devastating.
33:34Jonathan Ulrich's wife reached out to law enforcement and advised us that Jonathan Ulrich
33:40had been molesting children.
33:43The victimization occurred from the time that they were 11 through 13.
33:48Without having evidence, we couldn't just take him into custody, so the detectives were
33:53able to gather statements of witnesses and they went and got in front of a grand jury
33:58to seek indictments.
34:00Authorities obtained an order of protection that would ensure that the victims in this
34:04case could not be contacted.
34:07The defendant had to stay away from them.
34:10Deputies were trying to serve the order of protection on him.
34:13Deputies pulled up to the house and they saw Mr. Ulrich, but he immediately ran back in
34:17the house and barricaded himself.
34:20This was a very tense situation.
34:22It was believed that he had weapons in the home.
34:25After several hours, he finally came out and was taken into custody.
34:29When Mr. Ulrich was questioned about the allegations, he kept saying the demons made him do it.
34:35Ulrich faced dozens of charges for the years of alleged sexual abuse against his two young
34:42victims.
34:43He was released on bond on the condition that he wear an ankle monitor to track his location.
34:49I was afraid of what he was going to do.
34:52I did believe he was going to come after me.
34:54I believed that I was in danger.
34:58With the trial date approaching, Ulrich's ankle monitor is tampered with and stops moving.
35:05When the officers got there, they found the ankle monitor had been removed from Mr. Ulrich
35:10and a note indicating that he was potentially going to commit suicide.
35:15According to his note, he gave coordinates where he would be found, which of course was
35:20not successful.
35:22He made it look like as if he had jumped off of a cliff into a rock quarry that was full
35:26of water.
35:27Nothing was ever found there.
35:29We don't believe that he was there.
35:32Just believe that was his ploy to make it look like he was deceased in hopes that we'd
35:36quit looking for him.
35:38Mr. Ulrich, he is a chameleon who can make himself fit into his environment.
35:44Jonathan Ulrich poses a danger to young children.
35:48That's why it's so important we bring him to justice and stop the threat.
35:54I pray to God that he is found.
35:59I am not a coward and I'm coming forward for the victims.
36:03They deserve to have their day in court.
36:05He does not deserve to be free.
36:11To help us with this case is Kara Robinson-Chamberlain.
36:15She was only 15 years old when she escaped a predator who allegedly had already killed
36:21three teens.
36:22She's now a victim's advocate to help others stay safe.
36:26Long time no see.
36:27I haven't seen you in 23 years.
36:29Yeah, it's been a minute.
36:31Thank you for being here.
36:32You're a brave, brave lady and you're telling the rest of the world that you will survive.
36:37Can you tell us a little bit about what happened to you?
36:40Absolutely.
36:41When I was 15 years old, I was kidnapped at gunpoint by a stranger from my friend's front
36:45yard.
36:46He approached me.
36:47He did not look creepy or scary and was able to take me to his apartment where he held
36:52me captive for 18 hours, sexually assaulted me until I was able to escape.
36:56And tell me, did the perpetrator get distracted?
36:59He fell asleep.
37:00He fell asleep in his apartment?
37:02I always was amazed at how you could do it.
37:05You saved your own life, basically.
37:08I always try to explain to people that no one is on their guard 24 hours a day.
37:13I mostly was able to stay calm, gather information and wait on my captor to become complacent.
37:22I went to law enforcement and was able to give them information about my captor.
37:26So they were able to take that information and start searching for him.
37:29The cops that I talked to that were involved in your case 23 years ago said it was admirable
37:34how brave you were and how much you wanted this bad guy caught so he wouldn't hurt other
37:38kids.
37:39I commend you on that.
37:41Is this fugitive Ulrich like the perpetrator that kidnapped you?
37:45I would say there are some similarities.
37:47You have the fact that Ulrich is someone who's not acting impulsively.
37:52So this means that he can be a little more dangerous because he's not afraid to wait
37:56things out.
37:57He can hide in plain sight.
37:58He can manipulate people to get what he wants.
38:01And that's very similar to my captor.
38:03And I guess it must have been really hard for the victims in this case saying it's the
38:07school principal.
38:08In a situation like this, there's often a power play and that can be just as captivating
38:14as physical constraints.
38:16It makes it even more horrifying for a victim to think about disclosing because it's someone
38:22that you trusted and then to go on and try to trust someone else to share that.
38:27It's it's difficult.
38:28Ulrich left a suicide note.
38:30Do you think he would ever do that?
38:32People that are committing crimes like this, they are very arrogant and often suicide comes
38:40when there's no other options.
38:41In this case, I don't feel like it's likely.
38:44I think it's more likely that he's on the run.
38:45Why do you think he's been out there so long?
38:48Because he's so charming type of guy?
38:50His appearance changes dramatically.
38:52And all of the photos that we've seen, he looks different in every single one.
38:55So we know that he's a little bit of a chameleon.
38:58We also know that he knows how to utilize his personality to make himself appear safe.
39:05Do you think he could be working around children now?
39:08I think that we can't rule it out.
39:11We all have a survival mechanism that notices when something doesn't quite feel right.
39:16If something feels weird, go the other way.
39:19Hit you in the gut.
39:20Yeah.
39:21Follow your stomach.
39:22That's right.
39:23Exactly.
39:25What do you think about these victims?
39:26People like this, they operate on the ability to control and very often that is done with
39:30fear and with shame.
39:32So there's no shame if you've been manipulated by him.
39:34He's very good at what he does.
39:37Yes.
39:38There are so many amazing resources out there and you're not broken and you're also not
39:43defined by this terrible thing that happened to you.
39:45For sure.
39:46That's a really good point.
39:47Well, it's great to see you.
39:48Yeah.
39:49I hope I see you sooner than 23 years ago.
39:50Yeah, absolutely.
39:51Look at you, beautiful lady out there telling other people how to be safe.
39:54God bless.
39:56Cal.
39:57Okay.
39:58Here's a closeup on Jonathan Ulrich.
39:59He's Caucasian, 53 years old, 5'6", weighs 180 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
40:05He has a beard, but other times he's clean shaven.
40:08He's a motorcycle enthusiast and a fan of heavy metal and thrash, so he could be hanging
40:12with other bikers or attending live music venues.
40:15At the time of his escape, Ulrich was living in Murray County, Tennessee.
40:19He also has connections to New York where he has family.
40:22Let's bring this alleged predator in before he hurts someone else.
40:25If he looks familiar or you've seen Ulrich, call us at 1-866-AMW-TIPS or go to amwtips.com.

40:43Let's take another look at the fugitives we're tracking tonight.

40:52He's Caucasian, 29 years old, has brown hair and hazel eyes, is 5'9", and weighs 145
40:59pounds.
41:00Harrington is skilled at living off the land, even when he's out on the road.
41:04He's also known for being a good friend to his wife, who is also a good friend to him.
41:09Harrington is skilled at living off the land, even in rugged, remote areas, but he could
41:13be living in a city, hiding in plain sight.
41:16The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Harrington's
41:23capture.
41:24Hector Medina-Grejeda is a fugitive wanted for capital murder.
41:28He allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, Cindy Cardenas, in her car in Bessemer, Alabama,
41:35in August 2022.
