TFL Announces major changes to major London bus routes

Transport for London has gone ahead with the changes despite most customers being against the idea, in a public consultation.

00:00Transport for London has confirmed that some buzz routes through central London will be changing following what it calls careful consideration.

00:09The reshuffle affects three key routes, the number 30, the 205 and the 27, and comes off the back of a public consultation earlier this year.

00:20TfL says the aim is to make the service more efficient.

00:24Passengers using the 30205 between Paddington, Marble Arch and Euston will see some disruption.

00:33To help ease the change, more journeys will be added on the 27 route.

00:39TfL has admitted that most of the feedback they receive did not support the plans, but they say the changes are still going ahead.

00:48In practice, this means some passengers will now have to switch buses depending on where they're going.

00:55So, for example, if you're heading west beyond Euston on the number 30, you'll now need to change to the 205.

01:02Concerns raised in the consultation included longer journey times and the loss of direct routes.

01:09TfL says it's identified stops where it should be easy to switch buses.

01:14The leader of Westminster City Council, Adam Hugg, called the cuts disappointing.

01:19He says they'll have a real impact on hospital staff, rail workers and others who rely on early or late connections at Paddington.

01:28TfL says bus use on these routes has improved since 2021, but overall numbers are still down compared to before the pandemic.

01:37The new timetable comes into effect on Saturday, the 21st of June.
