Foster Pittie Sits On His Siblings To Feel Safe

He went from cuddling them to literally sitting on top of them — for the sweetest reason. We talked to Sandra about what it was like fostering this skinny pittie, and what he looked like when she reunited with him a few months later!

00:00He wanted to be close to any warm body at all times.

00:04He just really took to our dogs.

00:08He just wanted to melt into Vader's big 80-pound body.

00:13And I thought it was cold.

00:15Like, I gave him clothing.

00:16We gave him blankets.

00:18It was so funny because for the first few days,

00:21Louis would just always be next to Vader.

00:24And then over time, he figured out

00:26he could actually climb on top of Vader.

00:30He was brought in by someone who found him by their apartment complex.

00:38He was super, super skinny, very crusty.

00:42We gave him medicated baths every couple of days.

00:46We fed him small meals frequently throughout the day, lots of treats.

00:51Vader would take his treat, Nora would take her treat,

00:54and then Louis would have to wait for his treat.

00:56So I think by watching them, he learned to wait his turn.

00:59One for you, one for you.

01:02They were so gentle with him.

01:04They knew not to play with him too rough.

01:06So they really respected his boundaries and helped him to feel safe in the home.

01:13All these dog things that you take for granted that Louis didn't know,

01:16he learned from watching Vader and Nora.

01:29Yes, it is.

01:30Hi, Cheesy.

01:31I just thought it would be so amazing to see him again.

01:34You know, it's been a couple of months.

01:41He is 41 pounds.

01:45When I saw him, I was just like, oh, my God.

01:48I couldn't believe how much weight he gained.

01:52There were just no signs that he had gone through whatever it is he went through on the street.
