Unemployment in EU going down among all age groups except young people

The good news is that long-term unemployment has reached its lowest level on record across the EU.

00:09the latest Eurostat data on unemployment paints a mixed picture the rate has gone down among all
00:17age groups with the exception of the youngest generation among people aged 15 to 24 it reached
00:24almost 15 percent up 0.4 from 2023 however overall EU unemployment is now down to less than six
00:36percent a drop of 0.2 from last year and the lowest rate on record there is also good news about long
00:45term unemployment the share of people out of work for 12 months or more the rate dropped to 1.9
00:52percent EU-wide again a record low greece has the highest proportion of out-of-work people 5.4
01:01percent followed by spain and slovakia at the same time all these three countries reported lower
01:09long-term unemployment rates compared to the previous year down 0.8 percent in greece 0.5
01:17percent in spain 0.2 in slovakia at the other end of the spectrum the netherlands malta the czech republic
01:26denmark and poland reported the lowest rates
