Blue Steel is a classic American Western film from 1934 featuring a young John Wayne in one of his early starring roles. The story follows U.S. Marshal John Carruthers, who goes undercover to investigate a series of robberies plaguing a small frontier town. Locals suspect him of being an outlaw, but in truth, he's hot on the trail of a ruthless gang leader plotting to steal land that’s secretly rich in gold.

Partnering with the town sheriff (played by George "Gabby" Hayes), Carruthers must fight to uncover the truth, stop the criminals, and protect innocent settlers. With its action-packed shootouts, dusty frontier setting, and heroic themes, Blue Steel delivers classic Western entertainment.

Although a low-budget production, the film helped solidify John Wayne's image as a rugged and noble cowboy—a persona that would define his legendary career.

02:10but I reckon the storm will hold it up some.
02:12Yeah, Little Fork Bridge washed out.
02:14They'll have to wait until the storm's over.
02:16Got a room?
02:18I've been riding all night and want to get to sleep
02:20before the stage gets in.
02:22Expecting trouble?
02:24I'm always expecting trouble.
02:26Wish you had a place around here
02:28where I could watch goings-on.
02:30I got it.
02:32My room.
02:34You see that knothole?
02:36All you got to do is pull the rug just to one side
02:38and you can see Printner every corner of this room.

04:19I'm chilly now,
04:21and I've got to steam me a cup of hot tea.
04:23Well, there's a coal-oil stove in every room.
04:26Here's your key.
04:28I want a room.
04:30Here's your key.
04:52Just sign Mr. and Mrs. right there.
04:58I suppose, uh, you folks would like the bridal chamber?
05:05Uh-huh. How much?
05:17Well, we always get two dollars for the bridal chamber.
05:20You see, it's the best in the house.
05:24And, uh, please be as quiet as you can.
05:27The man next to you gets up at five.
05:45Hello, Hank.
05:48I'm wetter than the bottom of the lake.
05:51I'm wetter than the bottom of the lake.
05:56Lock that up, will you, Hank?
05:58Four thousand in there.
06:00Payroll for the last load of mine.
06:02Well, it'll be safe here.
06:04They'll have to take away the safe to get it.
06:21See you in the morning, Hank.
06:52Well, speak up, young man. What is it?
06:56I can't find it.
06:58You can't?
07:00Nope.
07:02Well, whatever have you lost?
07:05I ain't lost nothing.
07:07Well, what in the world is it that you can't find?
07:13Well, uh...
07:15You see, uh...
07:17Well, uh, she, uh...
07:19No, uh...
07:21Well, maybe...
07:33Yeah, I'll tell you, Sheriff, it's great to be young.
07:38Well, Hank, I reckon I had my trip for nothing.
07:42You see, I's tipped off the polki-dot bandits hereabouts.
07:46Well, you don't expect them out in a storm like this, do you?
07:49You can expect them anywhere there's money.
07:53Hmm, maybe so, maybe.
08:12Whoa.
08:42Sheriff.
08:43Hmm?
08:44Huh? Did you hear that?
08:45No, no. What is it?
08:47I don't know.
09:12Aye, Jimminy, it's the polki-dot.
09:43Reckon your tip was right, Sheriff.
09:45But how'd they get the combination?
09:47I don't know.
09:50What's them?
09:53Why, that's the safe's combination numbers.
09:56Yeah, and he watched you through the window when you opened it.
10:00I wonder who's trying to trade him tonight.
10:02Nope, and by morning he'd be miles away.
10:05You ask the same, I'm gonna run him down.
10:08If it takes me time, I'll be back.
10:11I'll be back.
10:13I'll be back.
10:15I'll be back.
10:17I'll be back.
10:19I'll be back.
10:21I'll be back.
10:23I'll be back.
10:25I'll be back.
10:27I know where I can come back to town...
10:29If it takes me ten years.

11:37
11:44Don't move.
11:47Put up your gun.
11:53Everything's all right, old-timer.
11:55You're just in time for beans.
11:57Sit down.
12:01Think you're pretty slick, don't you?
12:03No, just careful.
12:05But you might have been the polka dot bandit.
12:07Or some other notorious outlaw.
12:09Yeah?
12:11How do you know I ain't?
12:13Just by your looks. Come on, let's eat.
12:15Damn beans sure smell good.
12:24Well, help yourself.
12:37Pretty slick on the draw, too, ain't you, son?
12:40No, old-timer, just force of habit.
12:42Well, don't get excited.
12:44You see, I carry this for snakes.
12:46Oh, I ain't insinuating you're a snake,
12:49but it appears to me right now is a good time to open it.
12:52You ever drink?
12:54Well, in this particular case, yes.
12:57You mind if I roll up here for the night?
13:00No, old-timer, I'd be right glad to know you better.
13:04Yeah?
13:06Well, I ain't so sure.
13:08Anyway, here's mud in your eye.
13:11And how.
13:14See any sign of Mason and the gang?
13:39Saw a cloud of dust down by Cotton Creek.
13:41Maybe the outlaws.
13:43Oh, I hardly think so.
13:45How could they know when Mason was coming through?
13:48Well, how they know before.
13:50I tell you, there's a skunk in this town,
13:52and we ought to run him down.
13:55We ought to be hearing from Sacramento.
13:57That letter was sent three weeks ago.
13:59Oh, rats, the government don't care nothing about us.
14:02We got to help ourselves.
14:04You can't fight outlaws without ammunition,
14:07and we can't get it.
14:28They're just entering the pass.
14:30You boys know what to do.
14:32Remember, no harm must come to the girl.
14:52No sign of outlaws yet, Betty.
14:54But I still insist you shouldn't have come.
14:57Now don't scold Dad.
14:58It's been a wonderful trip.
15:02That was a good trip.
15:27Let's go.
15:56Let's go.
16:25Glad you decided to drift along with me.
16:27Gets kind of lonesome trailing along.
16:29Yeah.
16:32Fine mistake, and you're going to have plenty of company.
16:55Let's go.
17:23Outlaws, please help us.
17:43Dad!
17:44Dad!
17:46Dad!
18:17Dad!
18:18Dad!
18:19Dad!
18:20Dad!

18:22Dad!
18:23Dad!
18:24Dad!
18:25Dad!
18:26Dad!
18:39Dad!
18:56Dad!
19:09Well, we got both of them.
19:12We'd better make sure.
19:41No sign of them.
19:59I reckon they're on the bottom.
20:11Well, they pretty near got you, old-timer.
20:13Yeah.
20:14By the feel of my head, they did get me.
20:17What happened?
20:18Well, they shot you off your horse and you fell over the cliff.
20:22Into the water, huh?
20:24You pulled me out.
20:26Well, son, I reckon I owe you my life.
20:29And I ain't forgetting it.
20:30Don't worry about that, Dad.
20:32We got to get out of here.
20:34Think you can make it?
20:35Well, I'll make it or bust a cinch.
20:53Everything worked out just as you planned,
20:55only we bumped into a couple of strangers.
20:57We had to run and fight.
20:59They got Jack, but they're on the bottom of the river.
21:01What about the girl?
21:02Are you sure she didn't recognize you?
21:04Nah.
21:05We didn't get close enough for that.
21:07She's probably in town by now.
21:09Come on.
21:26Hello, boys.
21:27Any word from the pack train?
21:28Well, here comes Betty now.
21:47Where's your father?
21:49Where's Tom?
21:50Dad and Tom are dead.
21:54They killed them.
21:55Who killed them?
21:56There, there.
21:57Tell us all about it, Miss Betty.
21:59Well, we were just coming through the pass and...
22:15Then these men rode after the outlaws.
22:17I ran to Dad and found him.
22:20There, there, Miss Betty.
22:25I tell you, boys, we gave away with everything.
22:28That's the second time they've held up the pack train.
22:34Miss Betty, you must let me take care of you.
22:37I want you to consider my ranch your home
22:39until we can make more definite plans for your future.
22:42I want you to know that I'll do everything possible to help you.
22:46And you'll send someone for him?
22:48I'm going myself, right away.
22:52Oh, Mrs. Williams.
22:54I want you to take care of Betty until I return.
23:23From town, I reckon.
23:27Did?
23:29His daughter just told us.
23:31We were just going to bring him into town.
23:33Yeah?
23:35Well, you can give us a hand, then.
23:43Boys, some of you take care of Mason.
23:46Come on, boys.
23:48Look at this guy.
23:50Yeah.
23:52Oh, yeah.
23:54Oh, yeah.
23:56Oh, yeah.
23:58Oh, yeah.
24:00Oh, yeah.
24:02Oh, yeah.
24:04Oh, yeah.
24:06Oh, yeah.
24:08Oh, yeah.
24:10Oh, yeah.
24:12Something's going on.
24:14Uh-huh.
24:18Hey, something's going on down there.
24:21Uh-huh.
24:23Uh-huh.
24:25Don't move, either one of you.
24:27Now, talk and talk fast.
24:29Where's the rest of your gang and the provisions?
24:31Why was it necessary to kill?
24:33You could have taken the packs without committing murder.
24:35Men, we found these two going through Mason's pockets.
24:38Now, what's to be done?
24:40Drop that gun.
24:42Keep them covered.
24:44Men, we didn't kill Mason,
24:46and if you'll call his daughter, she'll prove it.
24:48His daughter is in no condition to be dragged out here and questioned.
24:51We're not trying to question anyone,
24:53but under the circumstances, I think Miss Mason would be glad to explain.
24:56Here she comes now.
24:58Miss Mason, these men have accused us of killing your father.
25:02Oh, no, Mr. Mailgrove.
25:04These are the men that drove the outlaws away and saved my life.
25:07Well, in that case, we certainly owe you gentlemen an apology.
25:11You, of course, don't realize,
25:13but this town is in a most desperate state.
25:16We are without food and ammunition,
25:18terrorized by a band of murdering outlaws.
25:21Two attempts have been made now to bring in supplies,
25:23only to have our men killed and the food taken.
25:26Well, if we don't get provisions shared before snow sets in, we're trapped.
25:30We're trapped now.
25:32We can only last a few days longer.
25:34Let's all get out.
25:36I tell you, it's the only solution.
25:38I think you're right.
25:40How can we get out when our money's all gone for food that we never got?
25:44Men, I have a little money, not much, but I'll do this.
25:48In order that we can get out, I'll give you $100 each for your homesteads.
25:52I'm taking a long chance of ever getting my money back, but I'll risk it.
25:56I paid more than $100 for my homestead.
26:00Just a minute.
26:02Don't you think that before you sell your homes for a few dollars
26:05you should take at least one more chance at getting the provisions through?
26:08All men have families.
26:11There's been enough killing.
26:14Why not let us take a crack at it?
26:16If you can get us provisions, I'll pay you well.
26:19Forget that. You give us an order,
26:21and we'll have the provisions back here inside of four days.
26:24Good. Then come to my ranch this afternoon,
26:26and I'll give you an order for $1,000 supply.
26:29Yeah!
26:36See that pal of Melgrove?
26:38You're gonna be mighty interested in him right soon.
26:41Who is he?
26:43I'm keeping that for a surprise.
26:45Well, I'm keeping a surprise for you, too.
26:52Come on.
26:54Come on.
27:05Come on.
27:25Show Miss Mason the spare room.
27:27Sí, señor.
27:36Remember, this is to be your home, Betty.
27:39It's going to be a great pleasure to have you with me.
27:44I thought you said those two men were at the bottom of the river.
27:48I'd swear those were the two we shot down.
27:51Hmm.
27:52If it hadn't been for those two meddlers,
27:54the town would be moving out right now.
27:56Well, if they're drinking, we're going to have some fun.
28:00If they're having fun, they're having fun.
28:02I thought you said those two men were at the bottom of the river.
28:06I'd swear those were the two we shot down.
28:08Hmm. If it hadn't been for those two meddlers, the town would be moving out right now.
28:12Well, anyway, you got the girl.
28:14And remember this. She's private property, so hands off.
28:18Yeah, you better tell the boys not to be talking around here.
28:21She might find out who you really are.
28:23Kent made another inspection of Homestead Valley.
28:26Swears it'll be the richest gold strike ever discovered.
28:29Runs right through the middle of all the ranches.
28:31We'll soon be rid of those hombres.
28:33The town will move out, and we'll own the gold fields.
28:48Take her to the hideout. We'll keep her there till the town is deserted.
28:51You don't dare!
29:02Come on.
29:18I'm going over to Melgrove's and get that order.
29:31Come on.
30:01Come on.
30:31Only one came over.
30:58What's he doing in the bunkhouse?
31:00I don't know. But now's your chance.
31:03Remember, no shooting.
31:31You boys tell me where Melgrove is?
31:34Why, yeah. I think you'll find him, right?
31:46Come on. Let's get him.
32:00Come on.
32:30Come on.
33:00Come on.
33:30Come on.
33:32Come on.
33:57What's this all about? I asked these men here.
34:01My boys have orders to hold all strangers.
34:03They didn't understand. I'm very sorry.
34:06Oh, that's all right, Melgrove. We were just playing.
34:10Here's your order. And I wish you luck.
34:13When are you leaving?
34:15Right now. We expect to be back before daylight.
34:18You see, the outlaws won't be expecting us that soon.
34:21I hope you'll get through.
34:23Well, it won't be our fault if we don't, eh, Jake?
34:26You said it, son.
34:29Won't be expecting them, eh?
34:32They'll find out.
34:35It's the things we least expect that usually happen.
34:49I thought we was going to Sandy.
34:52We're not gonna be that foolish, old-timer.
34:55They'd be waiting for us at the pass.
34:57Then you think Melgrove and Danny are with the outlaws?
35:00There's no doubt about it.
35:02Well, what should we done?
35:04That all depends on what happens between now and tomorrow morning.
35:08I wonder what happened to Miss Mason.
35:27Come on.
35:57Come on.
36:27Come on.
36:57Come on.
37:15And the tail goes to the high end.
37:17Hi, boys.
37:19Howdy.
37:21We'll leave at dawn. They'll be coming through early.
37:25Where's the girl?
37:27In the strong room. She won't eat.
37:29She'll get over that. I'll have a talk with her tomorrow.
37:36Miss Mason.
37:40Betty.
37:42Oh, I'm so glad you found me.
37:44Tell me briefly what's happened.
37:46They caught me overhearing their plans and brought me here.
37:48Melgrove is the leader.
37:50He's trying to force the people out so he can get their land.
37:52But why?
37:54He has a huge gold deposit and it runs right through all the ranches.
37:57Campt is in with them.
37:59Well, they'll be leaving early.
38:01I'll be back shortly after dawn to get you.
38:03I'll try and get some sleep.
38:05Good night.
38:07Good night.
38:15Wake up, old-timer.
38:17What's the matter?
38:19Clean out them ears. I got a world of news for you.
38:21Where have you been?
38:23That sounds interesting. Go on.
38:25Well, they're holding Miss Mason prisoner.
38:27And I got to talk to her and she gave me the lowdown on the whole deal.
38:31Now listen to this.
38:53Come on.
39:24I'll be back by noon.
39:26I want you to guard this place, boys.
39:28Keep your eye on the girl.
39:30If anybody comes, shoot.
39:32Okay, boss.
39:53You try and find the wagon. I'll go get the girl.
40:23Come on.
40:54I've located the wagon and the horses.
40:56Good. Give me a lift here. We're taking this ombre with us.
40:58I'll take it.
41:00All right.
41:16Miss Mason?
41:18Yes.
41:20Hurry and get ready. They've gone.
41:23Let's go.
41:53Come on.
42:12You've been tricked, Melgrove.
42:14They're heading for the hideout.
42:24Keep back. I'm going to break this in.
42:37Are you ready?
42:39I'm still lacing my boots.
42:41I'll meet you at the tunnel.
42:43All right.
42:54Hey, son.
42:56There's enough grub in there to last a year.
42:58Come on.
43:23Now, just where do you think you're going?
43:53Oh!
43:56Oh!
43:59Oh!
44:24Oh!
44:36Look!
44:38They're coming back.
44:54Oh!
44:59Good work, son, but we've got to hurry.
45:01They're coming back.
45:13Take that roan horse behind those trees and race for town.
45:19Hey, son.
45:21Here's a box of dynamite, might come in handy.
45:51Oh!
45:54Oh!
46:19What happened? What's the matter?
46:21They took the girl and daddy.
46:51Oh!
47:21Oh!
47:51Oh!
48:21Oh!
48:51Keep going, old timer. I'll stop them.
49:22Oh!
49:45They've locked us out.
49:47We've got to swim the narrows.
49:49$1,000 to the man who gets that girl.
50:19Oh!
50:49Oh!
51:20Here they come, old timer.
51:22Don't miss your mark.
51:24It means the lives of everyone in town.
51:44Melgrove is the leader.
51:46Melgrove is the leader,
51:48and under your topsoil
51:50is the richest gold field ever discovered.
51:53Yeah!
51:55Boys, here comes the wagon.
51:58Here comes the wagon.
52:11Well, men, your troubles are all over.
52:14The outlaws are buried in the past.
52:16Yeah!
52:18Tell them all about it, old timer.
52:20Well, you see, fellas, it was like this.
52:26I don't know how I can ever repay you.
52:28Oh, don't worry about that.
52:30It's all in my line of duty as a government marshal.
52:33But I am leaving for Sacramento today,
52:36and, uh, well, you don't know it,
52:38but, uh, you're going with me.
52:40Daddy's dead.
52:42Must have got a slug from one of his own men.
52:44Sheriff, congratulate me.
52:46May I present the future Mrs. John Carruthers.
52:49Wait a minute, young man. You can't do this.
52:52You see, I know who you are.
52:54So does Miss Mason.
52:56You mean to say you're willing to...
52:58Now, see here, young feller,
53:00I ain't forgetting you saved my life
53:02for what you've done for this town,
53:04but I got my duty to perform.
53:06Can't you see I gotta take you in?
53:08Don't you realize I know you're the polka dot?
53:11Why, Sheriff, you must have seen me through the knothole.
53:14You're right. By Cracky, I did.
53:16But you saw the wrong man.
53:18The polka dot bandit left just ahead of me,
53:21and he left this rowel sticking in the floor.
53:23You must have seen me just as I picked that up.
53:26And the rowel belongs to Danty.
53:28What do you make of this?
53:31Well, I found those in Danty's room yesterday.
53:34Danty's the polka dot bandit.
53:36There's a $5,000 reward for him, Sheriff.
53:39I guess it's up to you to collect it.
53:41Well, if Danty's a polka dot,
