00:00The End
01:00The country look familiar, son?
01:20I remember that ridge over there.
01:22Yeah.
01:24The town was right over there in that big gap.
01:27You know, it was right around here.
01:28I picked you up 12 years ago.
01:31He was more dead than alive.
01:35I'll never forget that night, Dusty.
01:38Flash of guns.
01:40Shouts of murdering men.
01:43The courage of my dad.
01:45Shielding me and fighting a hopeless fight.
01:49Riddled with bullets, he fell across me whispering,
01:53Lay still, Ted boy.
01:55They'll think you're dead.
01:58He didn't know I had a slug through my lungs.
02:02Well, when they rode up, somebody lit a match.
02:05And I laid still.
02:08And I heard somebody say,
02:10We got them both.
02:13And the match died out.
02:16And then somebody laughed.
02:18I'll never forget that laugh, Dusty.
02:21It was the laugh of a crazy man.
02:23A killer.
02:24Well, the next thing I knew, it was morning.
02:31I was in your arms.
02:33Yep.
02:35And I carried you all the way to Big Bend.
02:38For two years, I didn't know whether he was going to live or die.
02:42But you sure pulled through all right.
02:44We could just find some trace of my kid brother.
02:48Oh, it's doubtful.
02:50We did learn, however, that your dad had a hired man and his wife.
02:54I remember.
02:55The woman did the cooking and took care of Jim.
02:58You see, Dusty,
03:00my mother died when Jim was born.
03:03And he's the only relative I have.
03:06He's alive.
03:07That hired man and his wife disappeared.
03:10We couldn't find hiding or hair of him.
03:14Finally, there was a feller moved on the ranch by the name of, uh...
03:18Let's see, what was his name?
03:21Gentry.
03:22That's it.
03:23Gentry.
03:23But he didn't know nothing.
03:26Anyway, it ain't gonna do you no good living this all over again.
03:30We'll be in town tomorrow and we'll start our investigating.

04:51Hello, Gentry.
04:54This will introduce Gad Gans.
04:56He's just the man for the job you mentioned.
05:00Sorry I can't do it, but I got a couple of star packers on my trail.
05:04Gad's plenty tough, as this enclosed poster will prove.
05:09Good luck, Phil.
05:12Gentry.
05:14Gentry?
05:16He's evidently planning a killing.
05:18Why, that's the fellow that got your dad's ranch.
05:34Certainly is funny, but you sure do resemble this bozo.
05:43Maybe fate's kind of taking a hand in this deal, Dusty.
05:46Maybe so.
05:48We don't know what this gentry's up to, but we're going to find out.
05:52What do you mean?
05:54I mean that from now on, I'm Gad Gans.
05:59Murderer.
06:00Mr. Gentry, my daughter and I have considered your offer for the ranch and have decided not to sell.
06:11We've developed the best spring in the country and someday hope to make this a fine ranch.
06:16I'll admit it's the water I'm after, Mr. Winters, and I don't blame you for holding on to it.
06:24However, this country is still wild and rustlers are pretty numerous.
06:28That's why I've sold half the herd.
06:30And we're going to sell the other half next week.
06:32Excuse me just a moment, Mr. Gentry.
06:47Go ahead.
06:55Everything, Jacob, all right, Mr. Winters?
06:57Everything is right.
06:58They're on their way.
07:02I think you'll find that's right, Mr. Winters.
07:13That's quite right.
07:14Thank you so much, Mr. Hornby.
07:16Too late for the bank now, Dad.
07:17I'll have to deposit this first thing in the morning.
07:20I've got some two-year-olds I'd like to have you take a look at.
07:22All right.
07:28How do you do, Mr. Gentry?
07:29I'm very happy to see you, Mr. Winters.
07:31Your father told me that you decided not to sell.
07:34That's right.
07:36We're quite happy here, and it's the kind of a ranch that Dad's always wanted.
07:40So why shouldn't we keep it?
07:41Well, if you're happy here, that's all that matters.
07:48As your neighbor, may I be permitted to call sometime?
07:51Why, of course.
07:52Dad and I will be delighted to have you.

40:45Why, Spuds, what are you doing over here?
41:08I've come to tell you, they're going to shoot you as soon as you come to the hideout.
41:11Gentry says there's a reward for you, and he's going to get it.
41:15They're double-crossed, eh?
41:17Well, you don't have to worry, Spud.
41:19There's no reward out for me, and they're not going to get me.
41:23What's that?
41:24That was Aunt Marcy.
41:26She gave it to me when she died.
41:29Marcy?
41:30Yeah, she was Butch's wife.
41:33She was the only friend I had until you come.
41:35Marcy, Butch.
41:37Now I know where I've seen him.
41:38He and his wife worked for my dad.
41:41Say, Spud, did Aunt Martha ever tell you about your father?
41:45He said he was dead, and that Butch wasn't my real dad.
41:48She left me a letter and told me not to open it until I was growing up.
41:51Well, where is it?
41:53I bought this with me, because Butch said he was going to shoot me,
41:55and I ain't never going back to him.
42:01Here it is.
42:01I'm going to open this, Spud.
42:05It may mean a lot to both of us.
42:15My dear boy, your real name is Jim Hayden.
42:20Your dad and brother were killed by Gentry and his gang when you were a babe.
42:25Don't think hard of me, son.
42:26I've had no hand in this.
42:28Aunt Martha.
42:28Jim, do you know what that means?
42:38It means you're my brother.
42:41My own little brother.
42:43Jim, ain't that swell?
42:45Well, you know, boys, in a way, this isn't any great surprise to me.
42:55I've suspicioned Gentry for a long time, but I've never been able to get anything on him.
43:02Years ago, right after Hayden was killed, we suspected him of being the secret leader of a band of wrestlers.
43:09But we were never able to prove it.
43:12After reading that letter, there isn't a doubt in my mind but that he was guilty of Hayden's death.
43:18We've got enough on Gentry now.
43:22Why should we wait?
43:23Well, give Ted a chance to play his hand, Sheriff.
43:26He'll get word to us when he needs us.
43:33There's Gentry now.
43:34No matter what happens, son, stay right here.
44:01Miss Winters.
44:02Miss Winters.
44:04I hardly know how to tell you, but this poster will speak for itself.
44:18Why?
44:20That's the man that went with Dad.
44:22And he's a killer.
44:23That isn't the worst of it.
44:24Word just came to town that they found your father.
44:28No.
44:29Don't say it.
44:31Don't cry, Fay.
44:32I want you to know that I'll take care of you.
44:35Why, I've loved you since the first time I saw you.
44:39Please, Mr. Gentry, I'll...
44:41Won't you understand, Fay?
44:42I'm crazy about you.
44:43I'll give you everything you want.
44:44Please don't talk like that.
44:46Listen.
44:47I...
44:48I want you to be my wife.
44:49Oh, take your hands off me.
44:51Take your hands off, Gentry.
44:54Phew.
44:55What have you done with my father?
44:58Your father's safe, Miss Winters.
45:00Call the sheriff.
45:02I'm holding this man for murder.
45:04Murder?
45:06My name's Hayden.
45:08Ted Hayden.
45:09Son of the man you and your gang murdered 12 years ago.
45:12You left me for dead, too, Gentry.
45:15But I live.
45:16Live to even up the score.
45:19Why, he's crazy.
45:21That poster proves who he is.
45:22Then call the sheriff, Miss Winters.
45:39Hello?
45:40Hello, give me the sheriff's office.
45:47You're mighty brave behind the gun, aren't you?
45:50Why?
45:50Hangin' or shootin''s too good for you, Gentry.
46:05Hello, is this the sheriff's office?
46:07This is Miss Winters.
46:09Is my...
46:09Yes.
46:10Your father's here.
46:12She's all right.
46:14What's that?
46:17You'll be right over.
46:19Get your daughter, Winters.
46:20We'll have to hurry.
46:21We'll have to hurry.
46:50Okay.
46:51Yeah.
46:52I'm over.
46:53Oh, my God.
46:54Oh, my God.
46:57What?
47:00Oh, my God.
47:14Oh, my God.
48:44Bye, Dad.
48:45Bye, Ted.
48:46Bye, Dad.
48:47Bye, Dad.
48:52Bye.

49:10Bye.
49:11Bye.
49:16Bye.
49:17Bye.
49:18I'll be all right, dear.
49:19Don't you worry.
49:20Come on, Winner.
49:24Come on, Winner.
49:50Come on.
50:20Come on, Winner.
50:40There's the gun.
50:41The gun's opening the trap.
50:42Give me that gun.
50:50Listen, Gentry, 12 years ago, you killed my father, separated me from my brother, and took
50:58everything out of my life that a kid should have.
51:00And now I ought to give you what you gave my dad.
51:04But I'm keeping my hands clean, Gentry.
51:06I'm taking you to the law.
51:10All right, boys, let's riddle them with bullets.
51:20Why, it's Gentry.
51:38Not so darn, men.
51:41Where's the man called Gan?
51:43He's in there.
51:44Well, boys, I've been trying to meet up with you for some time.
52:00I reckon you got here just in time, brother.
52:12What are you thinking about, Jim?
52:14You know, Ted and I are going to get our ranch back.
52:17And he said when you marry him, it's going to be twice as big.
52:21Oh, he has it all worked out, has he?
52:24Sure, and you better accept his proposition, because he'll be the only one you'll ever get.
52:29Well.
52:32What's my little brother been telling you?
52:36Well, I was telling him what you said you didn't have the nerve to.
52:39Is my face red?
52:45Well, it oughtn't to be.
52:47Because they said she'd accept your proposition.
52:50Why, I...
52:52Gosh, now you're both burning up.
52:54I think your brother needs a good lecture.
52:57Lecture?
52:58He needs a good spanking.
53:00I think...
