00:30Oh, sing desert breeze
00:57Of the days that used to be
01:03Oh, sing me your song of the wild
01:12Whisper again those unbroken melodies
01:23That lulled and prayed to sleep
01:29When a child
01:32Down through the years
01:36I've heard you calling me
01:41And through my tears
01:45I smiled
01:51So blow desert breeze
01:57Wrap me up in memories
02:03And sing me your song of the wild
02:15Oh, sing you
03:02Marshal, I was just going to apply for a job.
03:22Sorry, son, but my deputy just went down there with all the men we need.
03:32There we go.
04:02There we go.
04:32What's all the trouble, Marshal?
04:41What's all the trouble, Marshal?
04:43Come out.
04:44Who is he?
04:44Who is he?
04:45Who is he?
04:46Who is he?
04:47Who is he?
04:48Who is he?
04:49Who is he?
04:50Boys, get that man.
04:51I want him.
04:55Wait a minute, I'll get him.
05:04Watch this fella.
05:25Watch this fella.
05:55Well, Marshal, I guess you got me.
06:00But I wasn't mixed up in that gang.
06:02I was trying to help you.
06:03Why, you darn fool, I knowed it.
06:06I just wanted to talk to you when you let out.
06:08I got a job for you.
06:10Nate fighting fire is another.
06:13Say, I've been looking for a fella that can shoot and ride like you for months.
06:18Think I'm going to let you get away?
06:19Heh, no siree, Bob.
06:22Take a look at this.
06:25What's wrong with that?
06:42Well, nothing, maybe.
06:43It seems mighty funny to me that every time this gang organizes a rodeo, their own men win all the fuss prizes.
06:53When it begins to look like an outsider's going to win, he gets sick.
06:56Two or three has even died from it.
06:58You can't arrest him for that, Marshal.
07:00No, maybe not.
07:02But it's mighty peculiar that when these outsiders fall off in them tough Bronx suffering from snakebite, I tell you, it just ain't natural.
07:12What do you want me to do, get snakebite?
07:14No.
07:15Now, my idea is for you to trail over there and sign up for the rodeo.
07:20I'll come along after and do some private investigating while you work in with the gang.
07:26Of course, you don't have to know me when we get there.
07:29What do you say to that, son?
07:30Sounds great to me.
07:31When do we start?
07:32Right away.
07:33Fair enough.
07:34This game is getting pretty hot for us.
07:40It's near time that the law figured out that something crooked with this whole rodeo business and starts investigating.
07:45Now, I've decided we'll make our next cleanup right here in Dalton and head for the border before something happens.
07:50We'll stick up the next stage from the mines, grab the rodeo receipts, and clear out.
07:54You're right, Spike.
07:55He acted mighty suspicious when that fella died over in Boulder.
07:59When do we start?
08:00Tomorrow.
08:00Dolores will board the stage down at Sagebrush and give you boys a high sign that the money's a board.
08:06For the woman passenger, the stage crew ain't liable to fight much anyhow.
08:30Well, well.
08:41All right, Kramer.
08:43Meet my new deputy, John Weston.
08:45Hi, Weston.
08:46How do you do?
08:47Kramer.
08:49I want you to paddle Western over to the shortcut trail, the one that leads to Dalton.
08:54Save them a whole day's journey instead of going by the way of the desert and give them a horse.
08:58I'll see if there's another cent to you.
09:00Sure thing.
09:01You better keep going, then, right now.
09:52I don't know.
10:22The trail starts right out at the end of the corral.
10:36You can't get off of it.
10:37Then you go 14 miles straight through the mountains.
10:40It'll drop you right out of the timber on the main stage road that leads the dog.
10:52Howdy, Miss Carter.
11:12Going home for the big roundup?
11:14Why, yes.
11:14I promised Dad I'd be there.
11:15I'll bet he'd be mighty glad to see you.
11:17I'll be glad to see him, too.
11:28Pardon me.
11:29Do you mind if I sit on this side?
11:32Why, no, certainly not.
11:34It's quite all right.
11:35I'll be glad to see you.
12:05I'll be glad to see you.
12:35I'll be glad to see you.
13:05I'll be glad to see you.

16:03Let's go.
16:05Let's go.
16:07Let's go.
16:09Okay, I saw your distress signal from the top of the ridge.
16:12I saw those men riding by
16:13I thought I'd better come down and investigate.
16:15My distress signal?
16:17It was mine.
16:18I saw the men coming and waiting for help.
16:21That's kind of an unusual place to expect help, wasn't it?
16:24Why I?
16:25I saw you on the beach.
16:26Oh, I see.
16:33Are you going to Dalton, ma'am?
16:35Yes.
16:36I'm Marjory Carter.
16:37Well, there's Judge Carter, president of the Cavaliers Bank in Dalton.
16:40I want you to meet him when we get there.
16:42He'll want to thank you, too.
16:43You see, the bank had a large shipment of money on this stage.
16:51Yeah, there was about 50 of them after us,
16:53but this fellow from Utah comes along single-handed
16:56and knocks them all off the horses.
16:58I've never seen Fitch Wright.
17:00Can you tell me when I'll find Weston?
17:03Just went in the bank there, Mr. Carter.
17:07Oh, hello, Miss Carter.
17:13This is Mr. Weston, the man who saved us from the bandits.
17:16Mr. Weston, my father, Judge Carter.
17:18Mighty fine piece of work, young man.
17:20I hope you're staying in Dalton.
17:22Yes, I'm going to enter the Rodale.
17:24That's fine.
17:25Drop into my office after you get settled.
17:27I'd like to have a talk with you.
17:28Thank you. I'd be glad to.
17:37You can't blame me if poor man couldn't take care of him.
17:43She's right. He just outsmarted you, that's all.
17:45I don't like the looks of him.
17:46He came up behind us and tipped the boys off with their horses.
17:49He say he will enter the Rodeo.
17:51We're going to have to take care of him.
17:53He's liable to spoil our plans.
18:01Hi, young man.
18:02Hello, Judge.
18:03Come in.
18:05Miss Carter?
18:06How do you do?
18:07Sit down.
18:13As justice of the peace of this township, I've been doing a little investigating.
18:18And it appears to me that this Rodeo gang ain't just exactly on the level.
18:23If it ain't, we're going to need all the good men we can get on the side of law and order.
18:28It would be mighty disastrous, son, if anything happened to this Rodeo.
18:32Nearly all the money in this valley is tied up in it.
18:35So we've just got to keep it honest.
18:37You mean to say these people have tied up all the money in the valley on a proposition put on by outsiders?
18:42Yes, every cent.
18:44They think it'll bring people in prosperity to Dalton.
18:48And they're all mighty proud of this little valley.
18:51That's why I'm offering you the job of deputy sheriff.
18:54I figure that with a man like you representing us, they won't dare to pull any of their tricks.
19:01Well, I appreciate your confidence in me, Judge, but...
19:04I couldn't accept.
19:06It would interfere with my plans.
19:08Plans?
19:09What plans?
19:10My plans to enter the Rodeo tomorrow.
19:13Oh, I see.
19:15Well, I'm sorry, young man.
19:18So am I, Judge.
19:20Good day, Miss Carter.
19:22Good day.
19:23Good day, I'm serious.
19:24Good day.
19:25Good day, Miss qualifications.
19:27I'm afraid I was talking to the wrong man.
19:30Oh, I...
19:31I think he's nice.
19:32THE END
20:02THE END
20:32THE END
21:03Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to announce the first annual Johnson Valley Roundup.
21:11Two days of fantasy, consisting of riding, roping, and horsemanship.
21:17Featuring dynamite, the only unridden horse on the race.
21:21Better be careful, son.
21:23A lot of men have lost their lives mixing up with this thing.
21:26Oh, I don't think they'll try anything today.
21:29By tomorrow I may have this thing figured out for you.
21:31I hope so.
21:31I still say you ought to be careful.
21:36The trick riders, ladies and gentlemen.
21:39Next on the program, ladies and gentlemen, will be the trick robbing contest.
21:49Featuring Jack Harlister.
21:51The next event, ladies and gentlemen, will be the Roman Standing Race.
22:20Next, ladies and gentlemen, we introduce that world-renowned holder of the all-around championship.
22:47Cheyenne Kent and the calf-roping contest.
22:51Let her go!
22:52Go!
22:55Thank you!
22:57Do a record for this contest, ladies and gentlemen.
23:25Hence, time with 15 seconds left.
23:55It was a brave try, but Kent's record still stands.
24:05However, we have a dark horse with us today.
24:09A man from Utah will try his luck.
24:12Turn the boots!
24:12A new world record, ladies and gentlemen.
24:38A man from Utah roped and tied his calf in 14 seconds left.
25:08There's one that got away.
25:13Better luck next time.
25:21That's three events he's taken today, that guy from Utah.
25:25He looks like a ringer to me.
25:27Yeah, we got to do something about it.
25:29Now, I don't want to pull anything too rough unless we have to.
25:31Kent, you take the boys up to the cabin and Dolores will get them up there.
25:35Just work over him gently.
25:37Enough so he'll be out of the running tomorrow.
25:39Leave that to us.
25:40Take it off, Kent.
26:06Take it off, Kent.
26:06All that's right, fellas.
26:07Are you ready?
26:14Where do you lose?
26:15Dolores, gal, you met on the stage.
26:36He's in with the gang.
26:38Let's plug up to her and see what you can find out.
26:41I'll meet you in the saloon tonight.
26:42I'll meet you in the saloon tonight.
27:10This concludes today's events, ladies and gentlemen.
27:17Don't forget, tomorrow is the big day.
27:25Oh, oh, you were wonderful.
27:28Well, thank you, Miss Carter.
27:29That means a lot coming from you.
27:31Oh, flatterer.
27:33I'd like you to come to the house for dinner tonight.
27:35I told Father that maybe we could get you to reconsider his offer.
27:38He needs somebody like you.
27:40Oh, Mr. Westwood, it was wonderful the way you win today.
27:44My brother, he is a big rodeo star also, and he would like to meet you.
27:48Won't you come now?
27:50Well, I, uh...
27:59Well, yes.
28:01Goodbye, Miss Carter. I'll see you tomorrow.
28:10Well, here's the cone, Kent.
28:18You boys get out the back way.
28:20This is my brother, Chai and Kent.
28:31How do you do, Kent?
28:32Pleased to have you accept your hospitality, Mr. Weston.
28:35Sit down, and Dolores will fix us a drink.
28:38Thanks.
28:39I watched your work out at the show today, and thought you were great.
28:42Well, you did some mighty fine work yourself.
28:47Pour one.
28:49No, thanks. I don't drink.
28:56Well, here's looking at you.
28:57Well, Weston, tomorrow's going to be a big day.
29:14Now then, if you want to throw in with us...
29:16Let's go, Mr. Weston, let's go, Mr. Weston.
29:46We got away.
29:57We better go tell the boss about this, and he'll be plenty sore.
30:10Say, Sheriff, a gang just jumped me up at the Spanish woman's house.
30:13I got a hunch that if you go up there, you can pick up some of the gang that were mixed up in that stagecoach holdup yesterday.
30:19Yeah?
30:20Well, you don't look to me like you'd been in any fight.
30:22You don't get me out of here in no wild goose chase, either.
30:25I'm staying right here to guard this money.
30:27Well, suit yourself.
30:29Oh, Utah.
30:30I got some prize money for you.
30:31A lot of money there, Judge.
30:40Yes, we're doing pretty well.
30:42Took in $8,000 today and expect more tomorrow.
30:46We'll have close to $30,000 in this bank by tomorrow night.
30:48$30,000?
30:50You're taking an awful chance, aren't you?
30:53I'm still guarding this bank, young fella.
30:56Oh, pardon me, Sheriff.
30:59Thanks, Judge.
31:04Hello, Miss Carter.
31:05Hey, buddy.
31:26Ain't you the young whippersnapper that won most of them events out there today?
31:30Oh, I won a prize or two.
31:31Sit down.
31:32Hey, you look like the young fella that won the belt, Cheyenne, last summer.
31:37No, that was my granddad.
31:39I've been nosing around.
31:41It is to me like we'll have to get to this fella, Barton.
31:44After what you've done today, he'll probably be glad to know you.
31:48Go up to the bar and make a bid on yourself.
31:51You're lucky, up.
31:52All right.
31:55If you can't fix him, I'll have to buy him off.
31:57If you're wrong what work, I'll use my brain.
32:00That bird has put it over on you twice.
32:02Fine bunch you are.
32:05This Utah works out there.
32:06He just came in.
32:07Fine.
32:08I'll take care of him.
32:09Right now.
32:14What does it mean?
32:16He's won a place of bet.
32:19A thousand dollars on Weston to win.
32:20He's a one-to-two favorite.
32:30That's right.
32:32But it's an easy 500.
32:33Beg Barton.
32:35You're Weston, aren't you?
32:36My name's Barton.
32:37I'm head of the Rodeo Committee.
32:39I'd like to talk to you privately.
32:41Certainly, Barton.
32:42I want to apologize for that little altercation some of my boys had with you.
32:56They thought you were somebody else.
32:57They found out their mistake, and they're sure sorry.
33:00I'd like to have you meet them.
33:02Fact is, I'd like to have you join up with us, Weston.
33:05You'll never get into the big money in this game unless you play with a gang.
33:09I guess you know what I mean.
33:11Well, it sounds good to me.
33:13I've always heard you had to be on the inside to be anything.
33:17What's your proposition?
33:18Just this.
33:19Right now, you're a one-to-two favorite.
33:22That means you're going to win on a thousand dollar bet, five hundred dollars.
33:26The thing for you to do is to let me place two thousand for you on Kent at two to one.
33:30And, uh, if you should be off form tomorrow,
33:34and Kent wins,
33:36you stand to make four thousand dollars.
33:40Now, that's a lot better than five hundred dollars, isn't it?
33:42Well, I'm afraid you're right.
33:44That's fine.
33:45I'm glad you see it our way.
33:47Come in the back room.
33:48I want you to meet some of the boys.
33:57Boys?
33:58Weston here is going to join up with us.
34:00I want you all to plead them right.
34:02Weston, meet Cheyenne Kent.
34:03Yeah, I think we met before.
34:06Oh, Senor Weston.
34:08We will see a lot of each other now that we're friends.
34:11See?
34:11I'm kind of green at this, uh, racket.
34:14I suppose there's a lot of things about the rodeo business you could tell me.
34:19Oh, boys, see you later.
34:21So long, Barton.
34:21So long.
34:22Well, we'll just make that two thousand on Weston.
34:34All right.
34:35You see, boys, it just takes a little brains to handle a guy like that.
34:57Yeah, well, how do you know he won't cross us up?
34:59Well, if he does, we can still give him the needle.
35:02We're clearing out after this hall anyhow.
35:06How'd you make out, son?
35:08You had the right hunch, Marshal.
35:11This promoter Barton is the brains of the gang, all right.
35:13But I placed that bet like you told me, and he made me a proposition to join the outfit.
35:21Did you accept?
35:22Sure, I accepted.
35:25He took me right in and introduced me to the rest of the gang.
35:28I met them all.
35:31Barton told me that he'd placed a two thousand dollar bet on Cheyenne Kent for me.
35:36And that if I should lose the events that I was entered in, why, I'd stand to win four thousand dollars.
35:43So I don't think we have much to worry about from them until I start winning.
35:48And then maybe it'll be too late for them to get organized.
35:51Well, I don't know, son.
35:53It strikes me you better be mighty careful.
35:57Remember what happened to them other fellas.
35:59This gang's a tough bunch when somebody crosses them.
36:02I don't want to see you took down with snakebite.
36:06Did you get anything out of that Spanish woman?
36:09No, she wouldn't talk much.
36:11She took me up to that shack on the hill and introduced me to Cheyenne Kent.
36:16She said he was her brother.
36:20Before I could get either one of them to steal anything, the whole gang jumped me,
36:24and I had to carve myself a fast walking stick.
36:26I didn't get you into this job to get yourself killed.
36:29You got any ideas how they work this snakebite proposition?
36:32Not yet, but figuring from past performances, they can't do much to let bronc riding.
36:38That's one of the last events tomorrow.
36:40So I haven't to lend to figure it out.
36:42And besides, it's going to take them some time to get wise that I'm not going to lose this rodale.
36:49Son, I'll never forgive myself if anything happens to you.
36:54No, nothing's going to happen.
36:55Come on, let's turn in.
36:56Tomorrow's a big day.
37:17I want to announce at this time that the high man in yesterday's events was the man from Utah.
37:22Cheyenne Kent is a runner-up, and it looks like a close race.
37:26In the event for today, the contesting will consist of riding, roping, and bulldogging,
37:31ending in a thrilling demonstration of horsemanship,
37:34when both the man from Utah and Cheyenne Kent will try their luck on dynamite.
37:40May the best man win.
37:43For the first time, ladies and gentlemen,
37:45you will see the Indians from the Dalton Reservation in full regalia.
37:51Let her go!
37:55Let her go!
37:56Let her go!
37:57Let her go!
37:58Let her go!
37:59Let her go!
38:00Let her go!
38:01Let her go!
38:02Let her go!
38:03Let her go!

38:10Let her go!
38:11Let her go!
38:12Let her go!
38:13Let her go!
38:14Let her go!
38:15Let her go!

38:17Let her go!
38:18Let her go!
38:19Let her go!
38:20Let her go!
