A Bangladeshi man and a Vietnamese woman were killed early Friday (May 23) morning when their car collided with a truck making a U-turn on the Alor Gajah–Melaka Tengah–Jasin (AMJ) near Serkam, Melaka.

00:34Malacca Tengah OCPD Assistant Commissioner Christopher Petit said preliminary investigations
00:40indicate that the truck, driven by a 48-year-old man from Jacin, was making a U-turn to enter a
00:46factory when it was struck by the victim's car coming from the direction of Malacca,
00:51which was unable to avoid the collision. The impact caused both victims to be trapped in the car
00:57and suffer serious injuries to the face, body, and legs before being confirmed dead at the scene.
01:04The truck driver was unharmed. ACP Christopher said skid marks measuring 45 meters were found at the
01:11scene. The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987
01:19for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. A urine test returned negative for drugs and a blood
01:27sample was taken for alcohol testing. ACP Christopher added that CCTV footage from the nearby factory will
01:35be obtained to assist in the ongoing investigation, and the vehicles involved have been seized for
01:40inspection by the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre .
