Canadian forward Sam Tremblay discusses making the switch from the Elite League to NIHL National and back to the Elite League and how he hopes to have a positive impact for Sheffield Steelers and head coach Aaron Fox in 2025-26

00:00how did you find that move to Sheffield

00:12having been in Manchester for that first season

00:14it was good honestly

00:17it was a bit of an adaptation

00:18because the level is different

00:20but coming to Sheffield

00:24was actually really good for me

00:26the guys in the team

00:28just accepted me right away

00:32it was such a good group of guys

00:33it was like a love at first

00:38it was just amazing with these guys

00:42they made it super fun

00:43and still challenging

00:45so I just gave my all for these guys

00:46it was quite challenging for me at first

00:50especially before Christmas

00:52because I was doing full practices

00:56with the Steelers

00:57playing with them in CHL

00:59and also practicing

01:00and playing with the Steel Dogs

01:02it was quite crazy

01:05because I had big deadlines

01:071st of January for my first year review

01:10so that's cool

01:11so it was a complete madness

01:13but yeah these guys with the dogs

01:17just made it so much easier

01:18and so much more fun for me

01:20it was always super fun

01:22to get to the rink

01:24and see these guys

01:25a lot of players

01:27hosted me at their home

01:30and got to meet families

01:32and stuff like that

01:33so even now leaving the dogs

01:35I'm still very close

01:36to pretty much the whole team

01:38and you'll still see most of them

01:40won't you

01:40they're amazing

01:42and you'll still see a lot of them

01:44next year as well

01:44I imagine

01:45yeah so

01:47I'm really looking forward to that

01:50yeah I mean

01:51just in terms of the Steelers

01:52it didn't end

01:53the season obviously

01:53didn't end the way

01:54anyone would have wanted

01:55without any silverware at all

01:57came close

01:57but no cigar

01:59in all three

02:00in all three trophies really

02:02or all three competitions

02:03yeah

02:03how much of that

02:04is a sort of

02:05motivating factor

02:06for yourself

02:07and the rest of the team

02:09that you know

02:09are coming back

02:10coming back in August

02:11how motivated are you

02:13to sort of

02:13return to winning ways

02:15as it were

02:15yeah I mean

02:18that's the main reason

02:19why we're playing

02:20at a professional level

02:22right

02:22is to win some silverware

02:24and me signing

02:25in mid-February

02:27last season

02:28was also one of the reasons

02:29is that

02:30I had

02:31a chance to

02:33finish the season

02:33with some trophies as well

02:35which we gave her all

02:37I know I did

02:38I just left it there

02:40left it all out there

02:41so we came up short

02:43yeah that's

02:44it's been unfortunate

02:45but yeah

02:46not coming back

02:47it's

02:48you know

02:49that's what you're

02:49trying to do

02:50it's very exciting

02:51for me to

02:52come back into

02:53like a winning

02:54mentality team

02:55yeah that's the ultimate goal

02:56is to win

02:58all the time

02:58and I like

02:59for me I don't see it

03:00as much as pressure

03:01it's like

03:02every game I see it

03:04as like I need to win it

03:05I want to win it

03:05so I

03:06I don't

03:07I know

03:08other guys might feel

03:09differently about pressure

03:11pressure of winning

03:11and stuff like that

03:12but

03:12I don't know

03:14I've always kind of

03:15thrived in those situations

03:16and I quite

03:19I quite enjoy

03:19so I don't

03:20I don't really shy away from it

03:21you talk about the pressure

03:22do you feel that

03:23there's more pressure

03:23playing for a team

03:25like the Steelers

03:26than there perhaps was

03:27up in Manchester

03:28and that's not being

03:29sort of

03:29negative about Manchester

03:31but do you feel

03:32that there's a difference

03:33in playing for the two

03:34organisations in the Elite League

03:35I wouldn't see

03:37see to me

03:38again coming back

03:39to pressure

03:39to me I don't

03:40like

03:40I just feel like

03:41there's more attention

03:42to the success of it

03:44I

03:44I don't

03:46fully feel the pressure

03:48I don't think it

03:48affects me that much

03:49at times

03:51actually I think

03:51it's quite entertaining

03:52at times

03:56there's just maybe

03:57more importance

03:59every fan base

04:04they don't want

04:05in Manchester

04:07but the expectation

04:08is probably greater

04:16as something negative

04:19it doesn't change

04:19my approach to the game

04:40at the Steel Dogs

04:42as a coach

04:42did you enjoy it

04:43once you made

04:44that full time

04:46absolutely

04:47for me

04:49it's

04:50the transition

04:51was quite easy

04:52but as soon as

04:53I met him

04:54for the CHL season

04:56and then coming back

04:58and just saw

04:58the interaction

04:59that I had with him

05:00extremely easy

05:01he understands

05:03my situation

05:03with school

05:05yeah

05:06he's super easy

05:07to talk to

05:08but also like

05:09on the ice

05:09and during training

05:11I just feel like

05:12it just fits a lot

05:13with my mentality

05:14as well

05:14so for me

05:15it's a perfect

05:16fit for me

05:17perfect fit for me

05:18and

05:19I think he uses me

05:20pretty well

05:21I think he

05:23he sees

05:25my value

05:26and how I see myself

05:27so you know

05:29I feel like

05:29sometimes

05:30players have

05:31different expectations

05:32on what they want

05:34on the ice

05:35or what they should get

05:36and stuff like that

05:36and I feel like

05:38Foxy just sees

05:40exactly what

05:41I think I'm good at

05:43and

05:44uses me perfectly

05:46so I think

05:46for me

05:47it's the perfect fit

05:48I don't think

05:51I've had

05:51a coach like that

05:52ever before

05:54and I really like

05:54the system

05:55and stuff like that

05:56it could be more easier
