00:00I don't know what it's like in Newcastle and Sunderland, but the problems are the same.
00:04It all stems back from the cuts, early 80s, mid 80s, and getting rid of waste management teams.
00:13I mean, in Sheffield Town Hall, there's sort of 25 people running the whole city trying to pick up all the litter, and it's just too much work for them.
00:21Yeah, I'm a cyclist, so I see litter all over the place, especially those who fly tip, and I think it's terrible.
00:27And I'm sure the councils are doing the very best.
00:30However, yeah, and do you know what?
00:33Sometimes I've seen people with litter pickers, and they're doing it themselves, and I really commend them for that.
00:39And I think that's the way forward.
00:41Everybody do the little bit, and things will be improved, wouldn't they?
00:45People find it depressing.
00:47It brings down the whole quality of the life.
00:50You walk to school, and you've got to wade through litter.
00:52You've got to go to college, you've got to come back to a pile of litter outside your house.
00:56It just makes people feel bad about themselves.
