00:00Gwendolyn Brown is getting candid about her parents' marriage.
00:05In an interview with Teen Vogue published May 14th,
00:08the Sister Wife star reveals why she felt her parents,
00:11Christine and Cody Brown, should have separated long before they did.
00:16Telling the outlet,
00:17I felt like they should have divorced for a while.
00:20I remember one time as a kid, I saw them arguing,
00:23and my first thought was, I hope they get a divorce.
00:27What kid thinks that, right?
00:28Christine and Cody ended their 27-year spiritual marriage in 2021,
00:34with the patriarch's other polygamous marriages to Janelle and Mary Brown following soon after.
00:41Cody now remains solely married to legal wife Robin Brown,
00:45and Christina since remarried, tying the knot with new husband David Woolley in October 2023.
00:51However, watching her parents' marriages unravel
00:54wasn't the only difficult period Gwendolyn experienced on the show.
00:59With the 23-year-old detailing the struggle of having her childhood being captured for the world to see.
01:05Recalling,
01:06I couldn't have a hard day.
01:08There wasn't a lot of privacy.
01:10Even if as a kid you want attention,
01:12you can look back at it as an adult and be like,
01:15that poor kid.
01:17Also, poor me now.
01:19But Gwendolyn does admit that the show did have at least one positive impact on the lives of her and her 17 siblings,
01:26lifting them out of, quote,
01:28a poverty situation.
01:30Explaining,
01:31We just got thrown into fame and thrown into money,
01:34and I stopped wanting and needing things.
01:36Life is a lot easier for a kid that's not going hungry.
01:40First of all,
01:41And we'll be happy that this issue is because it's
02:07a pretty good picture.
