00:00This morning on TBS, Gordon Soley brings you up to date on the World Tag Team Championship Tournament and then, what happens when three of the biggest, baddest wrestlers in WCW hunt down the yellow dog?
00:12He escapes by this much thanks to beautiful Bobby and the natural Dustin Rhodes. We got a lot to talk about. Only this morning on The Power Hour.
00:20♪♪♪
00:30♪♪♪
00:50The following contest, it is set for one fall. Introducing first, the godfather of world championship wrestling, Theodore Arlong.
01:00Proudly presents, from Macon, Georgia, weighing 253 pounds, Johnny B. Badge.
01:10His opponent, from Baltimore, Maryland, 226 pounds, Jumpin' Joey Maggs.
01:20Good morning again everyone, and welcome to TBS. Jim Ross and Paul E. Dangerously here to call the action.
01:28And as you heard, we'll be joined a little bit later this morning by Gordon Soley. You've got a great broadcast here today.
01:36The charismatic Johnny B. Badge, who last Saturday on World Championship Wrestling, apparently did not see eye to eye with Sonny Steve Austin.
01:50And tonight here on television, Paul E. Dangerously will be talking to Sonny Steve about that alleged misunderstanding last week here on TV.
02:02And that's all it was, if Paul E. Dangerously playing that Henry Kissinger of WCW, I want to get this thing settled.
02:10Because can you imagine what an awesome force Johnny B. Badge and Sonny Steve could be as a tag team?
02:16Well apparently, that man, Johnny B. Badge, a little infatuated with Lady Blossom's accessories, like her earrings and so forth.
02:25So we'll check in on that situation tonight, and we'll have more on that a little bit later here this morning.
02:31Because Sonny Steve will be with us here in the hour.
02:34Johnny B. Badge, waist lock takedown. Very quick. Joey Maggs, a great young competitor in the light heavyweight division.
02:43But Maggs does not want to duke it out with Johnny B. Badge. Not even Razor Ruddick would want to duke it out with Johnny B. Badge.
02:54He got knocked out by this guy.
02:57Knee to the midsection by Johnny B. Badge, who has certainly been improving his offensive wrestling skills in the last several weeks.
03:05He's always had that dynamic left hook. Bill Alfonso, the referee.
03:12This is an interesting matchup to me, because while Joey Maggs was an amateur wrestler in Baltimore, 200 miles north,
03:20Johnny B. Badge was knocking out Razor Ruddick and people like that in Madison Square Garden Golden Gloves amateur wrestling.
03:28So we have an amateur boxer turned professional wrestler against an amateur wrestler turned professional wrestler.
03:38Maggs with a quick move going underneath and executed the wrist lock. It's quickly countered.
03:44Back leg trip.
03:50Johnny B. Badge, who hails now from Macon, Georgia, with a nice fireman carry takeover.
04:03Power slam.
04:07Theodore Arlong calling the signals out there.
04:12And that's what's scary about Johnny B. Badge, because that left hook backs up everything that comes out of the godfather's mouth.
04:20Johnny B. Badge, a very well-conditioned athlete.
04:24Great agility from the flamboyant run up on top.
04:29And there's a big sunset flip right off the top rope.
04:32And again, Theodore, or Peanut Head if you prefer, calls him off. Big knee right to the face.
04:39And now that Joey Maggs is worn down, it's time for the Tutti Frutti.
04:44Tutti Frutti.
04:49There was the left hook.
04:53Peanut Head said, give it to him, and indeed he did.
04:56Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the match, Johnny B. Badge.
05:03Now it's time for the kiss of death, I suppose.
05:07You see the kids over here, okay?
05:12Right here, let's give it to him right now.
05:15Oh, they are. They're giving it to him, all right.
05:18Johnny B. Badge showing incredible amateur wrestling background, and from what I understand, he was an amateur boxer.
05:25Just riding over Joey Maggs with a slap right across the face. Very insulting. Maggs could do nothing about it.
05:31It's a 1-2-3 for Johnny B.
05:34Outstanding broadcast here this morning. Stay with us, because we'll be back.
05:49Welcome back, everyone, to TBS. Jim Ross and Paulie Dangerously back with you.
05:53We're going to be seeing in just a few moments the one-man gang in action, but I want to take you back to an interview that I had recently with Kevin Sullivan.
06:00One-man gang was there as well, even though the big guy was relatively incoherent.
06:05It happened on World Championship Wrestling, and I was talking to Sullivan about the big matchup in the Omni in Atlanta, August 25th.
06:12Eli Gante will risk his career in WCW versus the hair of the one-man gang, Paul.
06:18The one-man gang stands 6'10", he weighs 424 pounds, and he's been cutting everybody's hair that he wrestles.
06:24Eli Gante's been here for, what, 18, 19 months now, and he's beaten everybody that's ever stepped in the ring with him.
06:30But if Eli Gante loses this one match, he has to leave the United States. He's going to go back and play basketball in Argentina.
06:37The stakes are very, very high in that situation. We're going to talk more about it in just a moment, but let's go back now to the piece of tape that I promised you.
06:44It was a very unique interview that I had with Kevin Sullivan and the one-man gang.
06:48Well, it was somewhat uneasy here at ringside during the Great American Bash, but we do know that the final bash will be in Atlanta's Omni on August the 25th.
06:56A match has been signed. It's Argentina versus the hair. If the one-man gang can defeat Eli Gante in the Omni on the 25th, Eli Gante returns to Argentina.
07:05But if the largest athlete in the world wins the match, he gets his head shaved, Kevin Sullivan.
07:10Don't look so smug to me and all these people here. Just because he's 7'7", 450 pounds, does not make him the giant of world championship wrestling.
07:24This is the true giant because I know about Argentina. We just went to Casa de Agua, and we met with the Lady of the Third Eye, and as the gang and her bathed in the river,
07:37she told me this. She said, the giant won't be flying home first class. The giant won't even be flying home coach.
07:48What the giant is going to be doing is flying back to Argentina in a cargo plane made from the tree that the one-man gang will gnaw down, and we're going to build you a big pine box.
08:04You're going back to Argentina, and in the Omni, let's be real clear, it's you and the true giant of world championship wrestling, Lombe Rey, the one-man gang.
08:20You know, Paul, after hearing those comments once again, I've got a feeling that Kevin Sullivan's going to have a very, very well-thought-out plan for the Omni on August 25th, and do whatever he can to assist the one-man gang in defeating Elegante.
08:41What was that?
08:42I have no idea, but it sounded good, didn't it?
08:44Ladies and gentlemen, he needs some decaf, and we need to go to the ring.
08:49Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, it is a one-fall. Introducing first, from Argentina, at seven feet, seven inches, he weighs 454 pounds, the largest athlete in the world, Elegante.
09:11His opponent, ladies and gentlemen, from Norway, 294 pounds, Karl Nilsen.
09:20Well, as we mentioned, in the Omni in Atlanta, it will be the last Great American Bash of 91, and just a fascinating physical specimen, Elegante, wants to shave the head of the one-man gang, and we encourage our fans in the Atlanta area to get by any Ticketmaster outlet and get your ticket for that one.
09:45Elegante, still involved in the Great American Bash on tour, and you know, Paul, any time the fans have the opportunity to see this amazing athlete, they should not miss it, because at 7'7", 435, to the fans, he's as nice as he is big.
10:01What's really scary about Elegante is that he's not just resting on the fact that he's 7'7", 454, he's learning new maneuvers each and every day. That's what scares me about the guy.
10:14He has a devastating claw hold that accentuates his phenomenal tendon strength. He's learning new moves each and every day.
10:24I mean, look at this suplex. Can you imagine the impact of that when a guy 7'7", lifts you up in the air and drives you into the mat?
10:33He is certainly focused on his showdown. Sunday, August 25th in Atlanta's Omni at 8 p.m.
10:45He has a big hand, cocked, and a claw. Big Carl Nelson has been easily defeated here.
10:55Here is your winner, the largest athlete in the world, Elegante!
11:03Welcome back, everyone, to TBS in the Power Hour. While Gary Michael Capetta introduces the television champion, I want to remind all of our fans that the Great American Bash Tour will roll into Gainesville, Georgia, at the Georgia Mountain Center on Monday, August 25th at 8 p.m.
11:33And then continuing up Interstate 85 into Anderson, South Carolina's beautiful new Civic Center on Tuesday, August 13th.
11:44So, a couple of big dates to remember. Gainesville, Georgia, on Monday, August 12th. Anderson, South Carolina, on Tuesday, August 13th. It's the Great American Bash Tour 91.
11:57As Stunning Steve Austin will take on Kip Abbey here.
12:03Lady Blossom, very attractive blue dress.
12:08I tell you what, I don't know why Donald Trump gave Marla Maples a ring. If I were Donald Trump, I'd go after her. What a lady!
12:17And that's using the term loosely, as Stunning Steve shows his power.
12:23Outstanding athlete as the world television champion. Not only is he extremely strong, but he has got great balance and agility.
12:33He was very upset, as we mentioned, last Saturday night. Hey, there's a cradle! Abbey going for the pin. Austin better stay focused.
12:43Last Saturday on World Championship Wrestling, he was rather upset that Johnny B. Bad was having a conversation with Lady Blossom, seemingly about her earrings.
12:54Well, what else is Johnny B. Bad going to talk to Lady Blossom about? And tonight, at 6.05 on World Championship Wrestling, I'll straighten the whole matter out when I speak with Stunning Steve and Lady Blossom.
13:07Good takedown by Stunning Steve now, working on the arm. He can separate a shoulder right there very, very easily.
13:15Stunning Steve has a lot of great challengers looking to sign contracts for the world television champion, including, as we all know, beautiful Bobby Eaton.
13:26But the Z-Man is interested in that championship, and so, I understand, is Dustin Rhodes.
13:32Well, Stunning Steve is doing something very, very smart. He doesn't look ahead. He doesn't look on to Dustin Rhodes. He doesn't look on to the Z-Man.
13:40He's right now looking at Kip Abbey, taking one wrestler at a time, as he drives his shoulder right into the midsection, taking away the breath.
13:49Snap bares Abbey down, and now you see why Stunning Steve stays in control, because he stays focused on the given opponent.
13:56Lateral press, but he picks him up. Still to come, a match taped a few weeks ago involving Arne Anderson, Barry Windham, and the Diamond Stud against Eaton, Dustin Rhodes, and the Yellow Dog.
14:07That will be in this hour, and there is why I think she should not be at ringside.
14:13There's no reason to interfere in these matches.
14:18I'm not so sure if I was at the WCW Championship Committee, I would ban all managers from ringside.
14:25As a matter of fact, that's one of the subjects. What should the WCW do to make it a more athletic situation, one-on-one or two-on-two?
14:33I'll talk about that on the hotline here today, on the Wrestling Hotline.
14:37There's that stun gun, right off the top cable.
14:41Has Stunning Steve and Johnny B. Bad had simply a misunderstanding as he hooks the legs? He wins this one convincingly.
14:50Here is your winner, the WCW World Television Champion, Stunning Steve Austin!
14:57Later today on World Championship Wrestling as we take another look.
15:01While everybody else is wondering about the Ultra Fox Lady Blossom at ringside,
15:05Stunning Steve does the work inside the ring with a beautiful stun gun, finishing him off with a short on clothesline.
15:12One, two, three for the World's TV Jam.
15:15Here's the top ten this week on the Power Hour.
15:22Here's a look at the new World Championship Wrestling top ten rankings for the current week as compiled by promoters and members of the WCW Board of Directors.
15:30The number ten man, new to the top ten this week, the natural Dustin Rhodes from Austin, Texas.
15:36He's preceded by the number nine man, the former World Television Champion from Huntsville, Alabama, Beautiful Bobby.
15:42The number eight man, Johnny B. Bad from Macon, Georgia.
15:45Preceded by the number seven man, the World Television Champion, Stunning Steve Austin, down one notch this week.
15:52Up two notches this week in the number six spot, the one-man gang from Halstead Street in Chicago.
15:56Holding fast at number five, seven foot, seven inch, El Gigante.
16:00The number four man is Ron Simmons out of Warner Robins, Georgia.
16:04The number three man is Sting.
16:06Preceded by the number two man in the rankings this week, the Russian Nightmare Nikita Kolov.
16:11The number one ranked contender is Barry Windham.
16:14And the WCW World Champion for this week, the total package, Lex Luger.
16:18That's a look at the WCW top ten.
16:27♪♪
16:38♪♪
16:42Welcome to WNN News. I'm Gordon Soley.
16:45The eyes of the wrestling world are concentrating right now on the World Tag Team Championship.
16:50Those titles, of course, held for quite a while by Rick and Scott Steiner.
16:54but then they had to vacate the titles because Scott Steiner is still on the disabled list.
16:59Well, last week on World Championship Wrestling, hosted by Jim Ross,
17:03there was the first of the tag team tournament matches.
17:07And I might just point out that the Hardliners and the Fabulous Freebirds,
17:11both of whom had great desires to win the World Tag Team Championship,
17:16and I might say moreover, the Hardliners who basically put the Steiners out of action.
17:20Well, the two competed last week, and it resulted in both teams being counted out of the ring.
17:26And that means that both teams have now been eliminated.
17:30We will have another tournament match later today on World Championship Wrestling,
17:34but right now, let's go back and relive the double count out of these two teams.
17:39Irish whip, that moved the ring.
17:41Oh! Great veteran move.
17:45He dastardly dicked Murdoch with an elbow right to the face.
17:49It would well serve Murdoch to make a tag,
17:54but he drop kicked Hayes coming in, and now he makes a tag.
17:58That was great strategy.
18:00Murdoch with a sudden drop kick, very unexpected.
18:06Elbow smash by Slater, and now Slater with his neck breaker.
18:13Another devastating move.
18:19Spinning leg lock, now Slater trying to set Hayes up for the figure four.
18:26There it is, the figure four, but Garvin stomps Slater in the head viciously.
18:31And here's where the figure four is working against Dickie Slater,
18:34because as he trapped Michael Hayes in it,
18:36Hayes held on and had Dickie Slater trapped in it,
18:39enabling Garvin to do the damage.
18:45Head on the back suplex, Slater executing on Michael P.S. Hayes.
18:52This match, one fall, it's sudden death.
18:54The winners advance, the losers.
18:58And think about it another day, as we said,
19:01straight right hand by Murdoch,
19:03and a veteran of about as many bar fights as he has had in the squared circle.
19:09And his record is impressive on either front.
19:14Murdoch with those patented elbows.
19:19Murdoch, a second generation wrestler from Waukesha, Hennessey, Texas.
19:24Thought he had the brain buster,
19:26but Garvin may have slipped off, tried to pin him there.
19:29Big Daddy Dink had the leg and wham!
19:31And Big Daddy Dink just got popped by Dick Murdoch.
19:36Hayes and Slater fighting in the ring,
19:38Garvin and Murdoch fighting out of the ring.
19:41And Big Daddy Dink returns the favor to Murdoch.
19:51Bill Alfonso having his share of problems, as we predicted at that time.
19:57As we predicted at that time, Big Daddy Dink hit Garvin.
20:02And Murdoch, he's gonna count it out.
20:05I think both teams have been counted out or disqualified.
20:09Well, either way, neither team advances and they're both out of the tournament.
20:12Ladies and gentlemen, both teams have been counted out of the ring.
20:16Neither team advances in the world title tournament.
20:21Well, another team that is making its presence known very, very quickly
20:24on world championship wrestling are the Enforcers.
20:27Larry Zabisko and Arne Anderson.
20:30And certainly they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
20:33No question about that.
20:35Well, Jim Ross had an opportunity to interview the Enforcers,
20:38as they call themselves, at ringside this past week.
20:42And I think you'd be very interested in the comments the Enforcers made
20:45about the world tag team championship.
20:48I've been very impressed in recent weeks, ladies and gentlemen,
20:50watching the Enforcers in action.
20:52We heard their challenge to the Freebirds for the United States Tag Team Championship
20:56next week in the broadcast during the world tag team title tournament.
20:59They will take on the Young Pistols.
21:01Larry Zabisko, Arne Anderson have to be leading contenders
21:04for any championship they choose to go after.
21:07Let me tell you something, Ross.
21:09Once upon a time, there was a creature that walked the face of the earth
21:13and he was a feared thing.
21:15He was the kind of guy that would look death in the face and spit in its eye.
21:21And his spirit sat on a horse next to a kill of the Hun
21:24and rode in a car next to Frank Nitty
21:27and slowly technology has beaten this creature down
21:30to where in the 1990s he's on the top of the endangered species list
21:35and I'm talking about the real man.
21:38From a time when men were men and women kept their mouths shut.
21:43Then we had these idiots like Charles Darwin, Dr. Spock,
21:48L. Ron Hubbard convince all these fools that the pen is mightier than the sword.
21:55But you know what?
21:56When the pen fails, the world calls in the enforcer.
22:02And as far as I'm concerned, the two last real men are right here.
22:07Larry Zabisko and Arne Anderson.
22:10The bottom line is in amateur sports,
22:15sportsmanship is the way to go.
22:18Do the right thing.
22:20But in a grown man's sport, professional wrestling,
22:24the winner is the one who ends up with the most toys.
22:29I'm talking about the U.S. belts.
22:32I'm talking about the world belts.
22:34I'm tired of covering everybody else's butt.
22:37I'm looking after me.
22:39I'm looking after him.
22:41And the only one I have to please is my banker.
22:45And that is the bottom line.
22:47All I can say is the enforcers are going to be indeed a potent force to deal with.
22:52And we will see them tonight on World Championship Wrestling
22:55as they take on the Young Pistols in a World Tag Team Championship tournament match.
23:01We certainly hope that all of you will be watching.
23:03I would have to say that the enforcers pose a dangerous threat
23:08to anybody else in tag team competition.
23:11That's Wrestling News Network for this week.
23:13I'm Gordon Soley.
23:16It is a 4-1 call.
23:19Introducing first from Minneapolis, Minnesota,
23:22he weighs 213 pounds.
23:25Welcome back, everyone, to TBS and the Power Hour.
23:28The Z-Men getting a tremendous ovation here this morning.
23:31Fans, we want to remind you that later on today on World Championship Wrestling,
23:35we're going to have a special guest.
23:37We're going to have a special guest.
23:39We're going to have a special guest.
23:41Fans, we want to remind you that later on today on World Championship Wrestling,
23:45the World Tag Team Tournament continues
23:48when the Young Pistols take on the enforcers,
23:51Arne Anderson and Larry Zbysko.
23:53There will be an outstanding broadcast here later today on World Championship Wrestling.
23:59And the Z-Men really have been preparing diligently
24:03for the United States Heavyweight Tournament
24:06that will be held on a one-night event
24:09on Sunday, August 25th in the Omni Call.
24:12He will be one of 11 great athletes
24:15in a single elimination tournament
24:18to determine the new U.S. champion,
24:20and that will be in the Omni on August 25th.
24:23Well, as each day goes by, the Z-Men's chances are getting greater and greater
24:28because everybody that's involved in a tournament
24:30seems to have a problem with somebody else.
24:32From what I understand, it might not be 11 people.
24:35I understand there might only be 10 wrestlers in the tournament
24:38because Sting, from what my awful voice in the Peeping Tom has told me,
24:42is actually thinking about hanging it up.
24:45Well, there has been some talk,
24:47and I'm sure that comes as a great shock to the little Stingers and the fans,
24:50Sting retiring from WCW.
24:53Well, I talked to him.
24:54Whoa, whoa, whoa. You got the interview?
24:56Yeah, and it's going to be on the hotline right now, as a matter of fact.
24:59All day today, my conversation with Sting about his retirement plan.
25:04How sincere is he?
25:06You'll find out on the Ross Report on the Wrestling Hotline.
25:09Will Sting retire?
25:11I'll tell you about it on the hotline all day today.
25:14Now, I requested to the board,
25:17I requested to the producers and the directors
25:19that I interview Sting tonight on WCW at 6.05.
25:22How'd you get that interview?
25:23Well, he's been a great friend for a long time,
25:25and he was very candid and very honest with me,
25:28and I'm going to be very honest to the callers of the Wrestling Hotline,
25:32which will be airing through midnight tonight
25:34about the retirement plans of Sting.
25:36What's going on?
25:37You'll find out on the hotline.
25:39This is Z-Man, who has just been outstanding in the last several days.
25:45This kid has really looked great.
25:49He's had his problems, as we all know, with the Diamond Stud.
25:52That is not over.
25:54But this kid is a great counter-wrestler in magnificent condition
25:58as he suplexes Big Mike Thor.
26:02No, no, no, no!
26:04No!
26:05No!
26:06No!
26:07No!
26:08No!
26:09No!
26:10No!
26:12Z-Man grew up in Minneapolis.
26:17He was always a wrestling fan, watched the great wrestling action.
26:20At that time, from the Minneapolis area, there's a superkick right to the jaw.
26:26And this is how he won the World's Television Championship last year.
26:32Off the top rope, the leg is hooked, and he wins the head.
26:35Ladies and gentlemen, here is your winner, the Z-Man!
26:38He's building a lot of momentum.
26:40Going into the one-night tournament in the Omni on August 25th
26:43to crown a new United States Heavyweight Champion.
26:47Could this man be the next U.S. Heavyweight Champion?
26:50The Z-Man using his quickness, using his agility and his ability
26:54to bring down a heavier opponent than Mike Thor.
26:57Off the top rope, cross-body block.
26:59One, two, three for the Z-Man.
27:02Big six-man tag-team action.
27:04It's coming up next on TBS.
27:07♪♪♪
27:20Thanks for staying with us here this morning, everyone, on the Power Hour.
27:23Before we go, see the match we've been talking about,
27:25the big six-man tag-team event that was taped several weeks ago
27:28involving the bounty for the yellow dog's mask.
27:32Recently on World Championship Wrestling,
27:34he took on the Diamond Stud, and guess what happened?
27:36The Diamond Stud pulled the mask off,
27:38and, of course, his cousin Herman is one of the cameramen.
27:40They pan back out, Dan Bynum once again, not being a good director,
27:44doesn't focus on the face, and it was flying Brian, and you know it.
27:47Couldn't tell it. Take a look for yourself.
27:49Same characteristics apply in Brian
27:52because the yellow dog just doesn't back up.
27:55He comes up straight ahead no matter how large the opponent might be,
28:00always exhibiting tremendous intestinal fortitude.
28:06Both men missing the clotheslines.
28:08High knee. Got the big man down on one knee.
28:12Couple of thunderous chops.
28:15Got the ropes for leverage.
28:18He's behind you!
28:20The Diamond Stud thinks that the masked man is on the floor.
28:24A dropkick right off the top.
28:27Diamond Dallas Page, his dropkick off the apron.
28:31Yellow dog now.
28:33He is howling before this tremendous crowd.
28:38Oh, Diamond Dallas, he tripped the yellow dog,
28:45and now he's got the mask off.
28:48He got it off! He got it off!
28:50Get a close-up! Get a close-up! Get a close-up!
28:54He's got the mask, but the Z-Man has taken his shirt off.
28:59It's covered up, the yellow dog.
29:01Get a close-up of the guy!
29:04Yellow dog's got him rolled up!
29:06One, two, three!
29:09Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the match,
29:12the yellow dog!
29:20The following main event contest is a special
29:23six-man tag team bounty match.
29:26The bounty is for the mask.
29:28Introducing team number one,
29:31the chairman of the board of the Diamond Exchange,
29:33Diamond Dallas Page presents at 298 pounds,
29:38the Diamond Stud.
29:41From Minnesota, he weighs 248 pounds,
29:45the enforcer, Arne Anderson.
29:49And from Sweetwater, Texas, 278 pounds,
29:54Barry Windham.
29:58As we mentioned, ladies and gentlemen,
29:59this match takes before the Great American Bash,
30:02but this was a real exciting six-man tag team event.
30:07Six of the biggest stars in WCW.
30:17And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents,
30:19first from Austin, Texas, 261 pounds,
30:22the natural, Dustin Rose!
30:27From Huntsville, Alabama, 233 pounds,
30:31beautiful Bobby!
30:34And from the Kennel Club, 226 pounds,
30:38the yellow dog!
30:42That's why we had the opportunity to remember tonight
30:44the World Tag Team Title Tournament continues.
30:46The Young Pistols take on the Enforcers.
30:48And then tomorrow here on TBS, on the main event,
30:52Paulie will focus on Ron Simmons and the Danger Zone,
30:55and it should be a great, pure wrestling match
30:58tomorrow on the main event.
31:00Two long-time rivals.
31:02Beautiful Bobby Eaton will take on Richard Morton
31:05of the York Foundation.
31:07We are just kicking off an outstanding weekend
31:10of wrestling here on TV,
31:13and we're happier with us here this morning on the Power Hour.
31:16It's Barry Windham starting out against the yellow dog
31:19in this match, as we mentioned,
31:21takes before the July 14th Great American Bash
31:24pay-per-view event.
31:30The object of this entire match,
31:32the reason it was signed,
31:34the reason the challenges were made,
31:36is to take off the mask of the yellow dog,
31:39expose him to be Brian Briner,
31:42and that is true.
31:48Devastating chops by the Masked Man.
31:52And that's tremendous elevation with that backdrop.
31:57And Windham doesn't know where he is.
32:00He caught him right in the face.
32:03Windham may already be bleeding from the chest
32:06from those chops.
32:08But notice the survival instincts of Barry Windham.
32:12Rolls right back into his own corner
32:15and tags in the baddest dude
32:18in all of world championship wrestling,
32:21the enforcer, Double A Arn Anderson.
32:26Anderson and Zabisko meet the Young Pistols tonight,
32:29as we mentioned, right here on television,
32:31in a sudden death.
32:33One fall, world tag team tournament match.
32:36Good head and shoulder fight by the yellow dog.
32:38Another dropkick, this time off the second turnbuckle.
32:41One-half for the enforcers,
32:43Arn Anderson back into the corner.
32:48And now here comes the Power Man,
32:50the 6'7", 298-pound diamond stud,
32:54who whipped that mask off, as you well saw.
33:01And don't forget, on the hotline today,
33:03my exclusive, we're seeing,
33:05as we talked about, his retirement.
33:09Will it happen?
33:10Call the wrestling hotline.
33:11I'll tell you exactly how the conversation went.
33:14Bobby! Bobby! Bobby!
33:17And they're chanting, Bobby, Bobby.
33:20And beautiful Bobby from Huntsville, Alabama,
33:22powered back into the corner by the much bigger yellow dog,
33:25or by the diamond stud.
33:26And that was a tremendous right hand.
33:29Beautiful Bobby and Richard Morton.
33:31I'm looking forward to this.
33:34Tomorrow on the main event.
33:43Beautiful Bobby with a stunning right hand,
33:46right to the jaw of this huge diamond stud.
33:51The stud needs to trap Bobby in the corner.
33:53He doesn't need to give Bobby room to breathe.
33:56It's like Tyson versus Holyfield.
33:58You want to get your guy into a position
34:00where he cannot defend himself.
34:01If Bobby is free to throw that right hand,
34:04then the stud's going to be at a disadvantage,
34:06because Bobby is a superior boxer than the diamond stud.
34:12Bag made, here comes Dustin Rhodes.
34:15We'll see how he matches up to this big natural.
34:21Come on!
34:29I don't have a tie yet.
34:31Good shoulder block there.
34:34Rip it off like a chicken wing!
34:36Rip it off!
34:38Hold on to him, hey! Hold on to him!
34:40With his elbows there by Dustin Rhodes,
34:43counters the wrist lock of his own.
34:46Trying to secure the arm bar he finally has.
34:51Dustin in trouble now, back in that corner.
34:53And he very quickly leaves the danger zone.
34:58Hey, hey, hey, hey!
35:00Now if you're going to mention danger zone,
35:02say who's going to be on the danger zone tomorrow night.
35:04Say Ron Simmons will be interviewed,
35:06will be confronted by Paulie dangerously
35:08tomorrow night on the main event.
35:09Don't go saying he's in a danger zone.
35:11There's only one danger zone, and I host it.
35:20Anderson puts on the brakes.
35:22Turn around, Double A!
35:24Turn around!
35:28Beautiful body with a dynamic ride.
35:30Yellow dog with a ride.
35:31Anderson, the safest place is back in the ring.
35:34And that's not too safe.
35:39That's like saying, who's more popular,
35:41Mike Tyson in Indianapolis,
35:43or Pee Wee Herman in Florida?
35:45Either guy's going to win a popularity contest.
35:48Anderson back into the corner.
35:54And this guy and Larry Zbysko, I think,
35:56are rapidly forming one of the most
35:58outstanding tag team combinations I've ever seen.
36:01And they're going to put...
36:03There you see Wyndham bleeding from the chest
36:05from those chops by the yellow dog.
36:08They're going to put that situation
36:10tonight here on TV.
36:12It's a sudden death.
36:13One fall, you're out of it.
36:15You're out of it. You got to win or you're gone.
36:27Wyndham finds himself
36:29in a somewhat precarious position.
36:32Now, who else has hair like that?
36:37You know, I don't know.
36:39I don't recall.
36:42Oh, please.
36:44Arm drag takeover.
36:46And another one.
36:47I'll tell you, we're getting tons and tons of mail
36:49from fans all over the country
36:51wanting Fly and Bryan to be reinstated.
36:57And if the
36:59elderly WCW championship committee
37:01would reevaluate the situation,
37:03that's what they should do, in my opinion.
37:11The guy blatantly breaks the rule,
37:13blatantly double teamed,
37:15blatantly smacks people in the mouth,
37:17puts on a mask, makes a mockery
37:19of the whole championship committee,
37:21but you think he should be reinstated.
37:23Yeah, I certainly do.
37:25I think that the fans
37:27are the most important asset
37:29that we have in WCW
37:31and they have written
37:33thousands, literally thousands of letters
37:35wanting Fly and Bryan
37:37reinstated.
37:39I think we should adhere
37:41to his wishes.
37:43He's wrestling right now. You're looking at him on your screen.
37:45Well, if that is him,
37:47let's burn the yellow outfit
37:49and get Fly and Bryan back in WCW.
37:51As Anderson crisscrosses
37:53a nice rock coholt.
37:55Yellow dog
37:57going for a figure four.
37:59He's got it locked in.
38:01He's got it very, very well executed.
38:07Dustin Rose, figure four
38:09with a beautiful body
38:11going for the figure four
38:13on the diamond stud
38:15and it's in triplicate.
38:19Referee obviously has
38:21lost control here.
38:23Anderson finally able to get out
38:25but I wonder how much
38:27damage has been done.
38:29The trio of Anderson,
38:31Windham and Stud
38:33have had their
38:35mobility lessened.
38:40Need to go with
38:42a new game plan now
38:44as Beautiful Bobby awaits
38:46either Double A, Barry Windham
38:48or the diamond stud.
38:50And as we see
38:52the enforcer, Double A will take on
38:54his long time foe,
38:56Beautiful Bobby.
38:58Beautiful Bobby fighting out of the corner.
39:00He knows how dangerous it could be there.
39:02Good for the right hand.
39:04Again, Anderson puts on the brakes
39:06but this time Anderson backs
39:08toward his corner.
39:12Anderson backing away.
39:16Oh, Windham caught it.
39:22Bobby fell right into the trap
39:24and now the big bad diamond stud
39:26does even more damage
39:28to Beautiful Bobby.
39:34As we said, we're just
39:36kicking off a great wrestling weekend
39:38right here on TBS.
39:40Later today, World Championship Wrestling.
39:44A lot of
39:46exciting things
39:48we're bringing you tonight.
39:50Plus tonight we'll be talking more
39:52about the Blues Crew
39:54as Arn Anderson
39:58continues to punish
40:00along with Barry Windham.
40:02Oh, Windham takes him off
40:04the apron
40:06to the turnbuckle
40:08or excuse me, the security railing
40:10ribs first.
40:14And now they have Bobby down
40:16and they have Bobby Hurt.
40:18And the stud, Windham and Anderson
40:20need to take full advantage of the situation.
40:24Even Diamond Dallas Page
40:26getting involved. Beautiful Bobby Hurt.
40:28Again, we remind you
40:30this match was taped prior to
40:32July 14th
40:34Great American Bash
40:36pay-per-view in Baltimore.
40:44To the right.
40:48Tremendous crowd
40:50here to see this event.
40:58Great American Bash tour
41:00still ongoing
41:02through August 25th.
41:04Anderson, the left hand
41:06and it is very
41:08very stiff.
41:12And in comes Barry Windham
41:14perhaps the best technical wrestler
41:16in the world today
41:18as he smacks beautiful Bobby
41:20right across the face.
41:22This has been a long, grueling match
41:24here on TBS and the Power Hour.
41:28Knee right to the head.
41:34Barry Windham
41:36is certainly
41:38one of the
41:40more hard to figure
41:42athletes.
41:44Quite frankly, is Windham
41:46going to become a fan favorite
41:48or is he going to return to
41:50his ways in the past?
41:52Maybe more on that tonight.
41:54Quick closeout.
41:56We'll be coming to you tonight
41:58from Tallahassee, Florida.
42:02Dustin Rhodes in
42:04with a very timely tag.
42:10Rhodes with a lot of
42:12heavy right hands.
42:14Now his partners are in.
42:18They're fighting in and out of the ring here.
42:26Yellow Dog.
42:28I don't know if he's Ken Anderson.
42:30I'm not so sure Anderson was even
42:32the legal man in the ring.
42:38And now the Yellow Dog
42:40being hammered again.
42:42They're going for the mask.
42:44And they're going to get it off this time.
42:46They just about got that mask off.
42:48The Yellow Dog
42:50trying to get to the outside.
42:56Fans tonight on TBS
42:58a tremendous broadcast.
43:00A world championship wrestling.
43:02Two big hours.
43:04I'm really looking forward
43:06to the event tonight
43:08between the Enforcers and the Young Pistols.
43:10Here you see a tag team,
43:12probably the gutsiest tag team
43:14in all of WCW.
43:16Steven Tracy, the Young Pistols
43:18going against the Enforcers
43:20who have beaten up every tag team
43:22in their path.
43:24It's a match the Young Pistols just might advance
43:26in the tournament.
43:28We're coming to you tonight from Tallahassee, Florida.
43:30Until then, so long everybody.
