10:08This Wednesday night, the Great Muta will take on Lex Luger.
10:11The winner will wrestle for the World's Heavyweight Championship this summer
10:15at the Great American Bash.
10:16We're going to go back in time, Paul, and see the Great Muta in action
10:18from a match about a year ago.
10:20The number one international contender is the Great Muta.
10:23Everybody knows that.
10:24This Wednesday night, he steps in the ring with the United States Heavyweight Champion.
10:27The winner gets a shot at the Heavyweight Championship of the World.
10:30Check out how great Muta really is.
10:32Paul, as we take a look at this videotape, it came from our Power Hour, October 20th of 1989,
10:39so it was just almost not quite two years ago, two years this October.
10:45At this time, the Great Muta was managed by Gary Hart.
10:49Muta has since returned to Japan, but before he left,
10:52he amassed one of the greatest one-loss records in the history of World Championship Wrestling.
10:57And as impressive as that winning streak is, it pales in comparison to his recent accomplishments
11:03during his World Tour.
11:05As we mentioned this Wednesday night, he will take on Lex Luger.
11:09And I think it's going to be a tremendous matchup.
11:12Muta has outstanding agility.
11:15Can withstand a great deal of pain and punishment.
11:20But the thing about it, he's got great martial arts skills.
11:23His feet are just as deadly as his hands.
11:26We know he uses the moonsault off the top rope.
11:29He's great at the karate kicks.
11:32He's great at the karate thrusts with his hands.
11:34And I think more importantly for him in this Wednesday night showdown with Lex Luger
11:40is that Muta is a very skilled and accomplished mat wrestler.
11:46Oh, most definitely.
11:47And remember one thing.
11:48Lex Luger cannot dominate Muta if he can't see him.
11:52Just like Muta took away Singh's eyes in Tokyo.
11:55Oh, man!
11:57That's a great illustration of the suddenness, the quickness of the great Muta
12:01as he exercised a double mule kick right there coming out of the brinks.
12:06Luger must be very aware.
12:08Anytime there is a break, he must be very aware of Muta.
12:11And here comes his power drive elbow.
12:14Another of his unique moves.
12:17But like I was saying, he took away Singh's eyes in Tokyo with that green mist,
12:22that mysterious green mist.
12:24If he can do it to Luger this Wednesday night during the clash of the champions,
12:29Luger is all Muta's, and Muta will go on to receive a shot
12:34at the heavyweight championship of the world on July 14th.
12:38I've seen a lot of videotape on this particular maneuver.
12:42There's Gary Hart, who was the manager in 1989 of the great Muta,
12:45but this maneuver can put an opponent to sleep.
12:49It's a very unique version of the sleeper where the legs are utilized.
12:53Eddie Gilbert, the opponent in this contest, trying to free himself.
12:57And what is the significance of this?
12:59Oh, I don't know. Nobody knows.
13:03But Muta does stick those taped fingers into his mouth,
13:06and when he comes out, he always does something vicious
13:08to a vulnerable opponent with those fingers.
13:12Going to be a tremendous confrontation.
13:15A real must-win situation for both Muta and Lex Luger
13:21if they both want to be, or to wrestle for,
13:25the world's heavyweight championship at the Great American Bash this summer.
13:29And it's not just that both men need to win,
13:31it's that neither man can afford to lose this Wednesday night.
13:36A great Muta, as Paul mentioned, controversially defeating Sting.
13:42In Tokyo, there's a karate thrust.
13:45No offense at all for Eddie Gilbert in this particular instance
13:48against the Great Muta.
13:50Muta and Luger.
13:52Quickness and technique in the martial arts of Muta
13:54versus the size and the power of Lex Luger.
13:58It's a must-win Wednesday night.
