Will Rooney reports from the final Everton match at Goodison Park.
Transcript
00:00It's a bit of time here. It was so far from the Curtin. It's come down on Everton's time.
00:06Certainly from the men's perspective, I think I'm the old lady. And it was the perfect example of the milling over Southampton.
00:14It was a pretty routine win for Everton to be quite frank.
00:19But it was really what the girls were out of, what happened here at the stadium and what happened before and afterwards.
00:26It was a day to remember whether they were going to support us who were in attendance and who didn't attend.
00:33Before the game started, because we were here hours and hours before it was on kick-off.
00:41It was due to Alliance. It was absolutely a grand fact.
00:47I was making you weigh in. I was putting you on kick-off.
00:50There was so much soul. The coach, Philip Loves Welcoming, had to take a different route because there were so many people who were packed on good snow and staying to welcome in the team.
01:02There was blue pyro everywhere. It was in the air.
01:08You could smell it. You could see it. It proved a real memorable day for everyone.
01:18It was a score. A 2-0 win.
01:20They were able to catch on the pitch. You made it Southampton-style more than the relegators.
01:24Everton could barely deserve the win, you have to say.
01:27The win could have probably put them more in the batter.
01:30Eliminate. Scoring both goals. Scoring the final goal of Everton's time.
01:36It was a spark in 33 years.
01:38And it was two good finishes from Endai, you have to say.
01:42Taking his tally to 11 for the season.
01:44He had a really good first season.
01:46He had an effort.
01:48Beto had two goals disallowed. Stays offside.
01:50He had a really good game.
01:51Beto had 15 just because of his efforts in the final field.
01:56It was all around our games.
01:58It was really good. Not to look forward to the side.
02:00But the striker who maybe grabbed him now with both sides in the rear.
02:06The second half, maybe the game did peter out a little bit as you might expect.
02:11John Pickford made a couple of good saves.
02:15That one was just really late for the present thing at the end.
02:18The goodbye ceremony.
02:21From players like Tim Cahill, like Bill Jagielka.
02:27Wayne Rooney was here. Duncan Ferguson.
02:30And then Blake Baines, David Moyes.
02:33Spokes for support.
02:34And players such as James Tarkovsky and Dwight Neal.
02:39Yeah, I'm sure that the celebrations are going to go along until the night.
02:45Because it's going to be a real iconic football stadium.
02:49One of England's iconic stadiums.
02:51It's going to be no more for the Edmunds team, certainly.
02:56The women are going to be making this their own ground.
02:59But all eyes now on moving to the new stadium.
03:04The Hill Dickinson Stadium with the family moored off next season.
03:07The state-of-the-art facility.
03:09Which is going to drive Everton forwards.
03:12Because we know that for how much Everton love Hudson Parker fans.
03:19Everton need to increase revenues.
03:22They need to come forwards.
03:24And that's what's happened.
03:27When they move there, the revenue streams are over significantly.
03:31Everton want to get back to competing in the upper echelons.
03:35And that's one way to do it.
03:38Personally, one of the fans you can probably see out on the picture.
03:44I don't know.
03:45There's a billion type of Sun Sabre in the moment.
03:49There will be people who will stay in it as long as possible.
03:52And let's not forget it.
03:55The job that David Moyes has done since you have.
03:59You have to salute what he has achieved.
04:01Because here are the real predicaments.
04:04I thought there might be a relegation back on the hands.
04:07But Everton could still finish 13.
04:09They've definitely finished higher than the Man United and Tottenham.
04:12Which, okay, they've got two pretty abysmal seasons.
04:16But for all the money that those books have spent.
04:19United and Tottenham in recent seasons.
04:22And Everton have, let's be honest.
04:24That's a fairly strict and strict to get by.
04:29This is the number two football club in the next week.
04:33I think there will be a breakaway between the fans and maybe the club in recent years.
04:43But that's changing now, the new ownership.
04:46You know, maybe the PSR situations are significantly better.
04:50And Everton, there's still going to be steps that they have to make.
04:53It's not going to be one giant leap.
04:55But the feeling is that things are on the up.
05:00And hopefully they take that impetus now into the new stages.
05:05And finish the final game.
05:08So far, I have to start bouncing there.
