For most it will be another dry, clear and settled evening as high pressure remains across the country. However, northeast winds will continue to feed low cloud into the east of the UK. Mist and fog patches possible overnight, turning chilly in rural areas. This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 17/05/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Kathryn Chalk.

00:00Hello, well some of that low cloud has been quite stubborn to clear today and we'll see the return
00:05of low cloud as we go through this evening and overnight. So take a look at the bigger picture
00:10though we're under the influence of high pressure so fine dry and settled for most of us but with
00:16the winds coming in from that north easterly direction that's where we're just feeding in that
00:21cloud from the North Sea. So as we go through the rest of Saturday evening and overnight plenty of
00:28clear skies well out towards the west but once the land cools we'll see the return of this blanket
00:34of low cloud pushing further inland perhaps not as extensive further west though compared to this
00:40morning but it could be thick enough still for the odd patch of drizzle or light rain but in the clearest
00:47skies temperatures will fall away we could see a touch of frost in places perhaps even some mist and
00:53fog patches. So as we start Sunday morning a cool gray gloomy start across eastern areas and northern
01:01parts of Scotland as well. The low cloud should start lifting and breaking once that sun gets going but
01:07it could linger for a time across east midlands down towards the southeast of England too. Otherwise a good
01:15deal of fine and bright weather is on the cards on Sunday. There is just the chance of the odd shower
01:22developing across the far south of Scotland and north western England too but otherwise it's still
01:29going to be feeling pleasantly warm in that sunshine especially out towards the west highs of 22 23 degrees
01:35but where you hold on to this onshore flow especially across northern parts of Scotland and running down
01:42that eastern coast it's still going to be feeling rather cool. So as we go through Sunday evening then we've
01:49still got the risk of some showers across parts of southern Scotland they'll generally start easing
01:54then well it's a bit of a rinse and repeat we'll see further low cloud hugging coast and moving further
02:00inland as well most places should stay largely dry and then temperatures actually are going to be quite
02:07similar to tonight as well generally around 8 to 10 degrees but in any clear spells temperatures could quickly
02:14fall away. So as we go through Monday morning then quite a lot of cloud in the mix but once again
02:21that will start lifting and breaking but the exception as we go into the afternoon we'll see further
02:26cloud but also perhaps some showers just breaking out that could be on the heavy side a bit of uncertainty
02:32in exact position of those so do keep an eye out on the forecast for that but otherwise there's still
02:38a good deal of fine and dry weather around especially across northern Ireland and central parts of Scotland too
02:45still going to be feeling warm where you do get that sunshine so still low 20s 21 possibly 22 but where
02:52you've still got that onshore flow with the winds coming in from the northeast still going to be feeling
02:58on the cool side and especially under any lingering cloud as well.
03:02And that's a similar picture as we go through Tuesday and Wednesday plenty of fine and dry weather on the
03:07cards but still with the chance of some showers that could perhaps turn heavy and thundery but make
03:13sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss any details of that and I'll catch you very soon bye bye
