We travel to Tettenhall for our feature: Love Your Neighbourhood, and find there's much more to it than a green and a paddling pool, although those are both rather splendid.

00:00So I'm with Paul, aka Paul the Messenger on all platforms. So Paul, do you work here in Technol and live in Technol, is that right?

00:07Yeah, yeah. My wife and I moved into Technol a couple months ago. I've worked around here. I do content, I do music.

00:15Yeah, that's pretty much my entire life.

00:16Very creative guy.

00:17Yeah, very creative guy.

00:18Yeah, I love my creative stuff.

00:19So does Technol help bring out that creativity? It's a beautiful place to live. What do you love about living here?

00:25I think the reason it brings out creativity is because it provides you with peace.

00:28I think that's a very important thing.

00:31I think it's difficult to be creative when you're worried about your well-being.

00:36But over here, when I'm out here, I can kind of just walk.

00:38Any time of day, I've lived in other places where you can't do that.

00:42But over here, because it's so peaceful, people are kind, there's a positive energy,

00:45it gives you the freedom to really just explore yourself because you're not worried about who's around you.

00:51That is a very, very succinct, very good thought to have actually about the place where you live where it provides peace to you

00:57and that allows you to be creative.

00:59That's incredible.

01:00I think that's the point of a community.

01:01I think the point of a community and the point of a place to live is to provide you with the foundation that you need to explore other things.

01:08And a lot of areas fail at that.

01:10But this particular place is fantastic.

01:11I mean, I haven't lived here that long.

01:13And I know so many people.

01:15And this shop, for example, they always give my dog a carrot.

01:18You know, so stuff like that really helps you.

01:21They're caring, yeah.

01:22Yeah, very caring people, you know.

01:23No one judges you.

01:24You kind of feel like you're a part of something much larger than yourself.

01:27And I feel like I've never been happier.

01:29And honestly, and I'm not just saying that for the camera, I've never been happier than living around here.

01:40Michael, tell me why you choose to walk three miles around to Techno most days of the week.

01:45It's just a nice walk.

01:48We're coming through all the houses and church and everything.

01:50But going back, we can go straight through the golf course, which is fresh air.

01:55Fresh air.

01:55And it's just such a beautiful, natural area.

01:58Do you come here to go into the town or anything?

02:00Occasionally, yeah.

02:01But mostly it's just a walk.

02:03What do you think about, like, I don't know, the people that you meet in Techno?

02:07What do you think about the community here?

02:08They seem very friendly, yeah.

02:11And the shops are a bit different.

02:14The shops are different.

02:15They've got lots of nice independent shops, I mean, that set it apart from other areas nearby.

02:20I mean, how is it very different to Billbrook to you here?

02:23There's not really a lot of shops in Billbrook.

02:27So, yeah, I mean, it's a nice little change for you to come and experience a different scenery.

02:41How long have you had your wonderful shop here for?

02:43Six years.

02:44Well, seven years in January.

02:46Oh, wow.

02:46Next year would have been here now, yeah.

02:47Lovely.

02:47So it's gone fast.

02:48And I know that you were saying you've got people coming from all over.

02:51Yeah.

02:52Manchester, even.

02:52Yeah, yeah, Manchester.

02:54Mods come from all over, too.

02:55So you've got Manchester, Birmingham, all over Wolverhampton, and all over, like, Shropshire,

03:00Staffordshire, right?

03:00So, but here in Techno, what do you like so much about having your shop here in the heart

03:05of it?

03:06I think for me, to be fair, it's the people.

03:08So it's the kind of, the customers that we're getting, so they're all kind of, you know,

03:12they've all got similar interests.

03:13So they like similar fashion, similar music, scooters, that kind of thing.

03:17But it's also the other businesses.

03:18You know, everyone's just so friendly.

03:20Even people that don't come in the shop, you know, they might pop there and just have

03:22a chat.

03:23So it's that community spirit of Techno, I think, really.

03:26And Wolverhampton.

03:27I love that so much, actually.

03:29And also, I feel like the business is here.

03:31Like, you've got this lovely little strip down here.

03:32Are you all quite close here?

03:34Tell me a little bit.

03:34Yeah, yeah, we're all really close.

03:35Everyone helps each other.

03:36We all kind of shop with each other, you know, so we'll get coffees next door and, you know,

03:40just banches off each other, I suppose.

03:42How lovely.

03:43And tell me about the hairdressers next door.

03:45That's a bit special.

03:46So, yeah, yeah, the hairdressers next door is my wife.

03:48So she's been there six years as well.

03:50She was in Finchfield previously for 14 years.

03:52And the opportunity came up for this unit, so we just went for it.

03:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.

03:56Lovely.

03:59So we're with Nina and her lovely salon here right next door to Moe, her husband Mark's

04:04shop.

04:04So, Nina, how long have you had your salon here?

04:06So we've been here now for six years.

04:08Six years.

04:09Oh, around the same time as Moe?

04:10Yeah, we moved in.

04:11And I think it was a month later.

04:12Yeah?

04:12Oh, how lovely.

04:13And it's right in the heart of Techno.

04:14What do you love so much about your business and the people that you get to meet?

04:19Oh, we've got some beautiful clients and we've had them for a long, long time.

04:22Our clients are really loyal, so we were in Finchfield.

04:24They moved and followed us up here.

04:26And then sort of new clients have joined us along the way.

04:29And they're just such friendly people, you know, just lovely.

04:32We're really, really lucky, actually.

04:33Our clients are just so lovely.

04:35And then working down here was just really, really nice.

04:38Mine's just like the lanes in Brighton.

04:40Yeah, it does.

04:40It's a beautiful area, actually, and all of Techno really is.

04:43So, I mean, do you live here in Techno as well?

04:45I live in Codsul.

04:46Oh, Codsul.

04:47Not too far.

04:47Yeah, not too far.

04:48It's literally a seven-minute drive.

04:49Yeah.

04:50And so coming here in such a beautiful area, I mean, what's this area like to you as a whole,

04:55you know?

04:55I think it's just so, it feels a little bit, it feels quite luxurious, actually.

05:02And it's just, everybody's really, really, really friendly.

05:05Everybody in the village gets on really well.

05:07All the shops work really well together.

05:10Even though there's quite a lot of hairdressers here, there's room for every day.

05:14So, there's never that sort of competition here.

05:16Everyone just sort of helps each other out.

05:20And we just feel really lucky, you know?

05:21It's just out of the town.

05:24It's just lovely.

05:35So, what do you ladies like about your day out so far in Techno?

05:39The sunshine for a start.

05:40Yeah.

05:41And we've had a lovely lunch in Coco.

05:43And Rachel bought a sausage roll for her husband because he couldn't join us.

05:49And it's halfway for us between Shropshire and Litchfield.

05:53So, that's why we moved here.

05:54Oh, yes, because Rachel's from Litchfield and you're from Shropshire, Sal.

05:57So, is it the first time you come for a day out in Techno together?

06:01It is, isn't it?

06:01We've been to Codsall before and done a couple of days out, haven't we?

06:05But Telford we've done.

06:06Yeah.

06:07But this is rather lovely, yes.

06:08We were ladies who lunch yesterday.

06:11Ladies who lunch in Techno.

06:11Yeah, and what do you think about the surroundings?

06:14Yeah, pretty.

06:15And apart from, yeah, we've had a little car parked for three hours, haven't we?

06:17Yeah.

06:18Oh.

06:18That was good.

06:19Yes, because all the parking is for one hour.

06:21So, you have to know if you want a bit longer.

06:23And I just think the green is so beautiful here.

06:26And in the spring, it's all got crocuses and daffodils on.

06:30And it's absolutely beautiful.

06:31Yeah.

06:32So, it's gone over now.

06:33But, yeah, it's beautiful.
