The Plough in Wellington is full of character and especially welcomes veterans. They have three weekly sessions of karaoke and Pool and darts too.

00:05I'm fine, thank you.

00:06So how long have you been here then, Philippa?

00:08We took it on in August, and it took us about eight weeks, and so we've been open since

00:12the end of September.

00:14So it's still quite new-ish, really, then, yep.

00:17And what were you up to before this, at a different pub, or a different career?

00:20I was a barmaid here, for a bit, and prior to that, or during that, I used to work for

00:26a company that works for the local council.

00:29And you've got a, just describe your pub, then.

00:32If we haven't been here, what kind of pub is it?

00:34So it's a veterans' pub, military veterans' pub.

00:38So we've kept that going from the previous landlord, so veterans are always welcome.

00:44We're known for karaoke nights, so we have karaoke three nights a week.

00:49Do you do a number?

00:50Yeah, I've got a few.

00:51What do you go to, Sam, then?

00:52My first one is 57 Chevrolet.

00:54Oh, right.

00:55Okay, right, cool.

01:00Yeah, so we're predominantly for veterans, but obviously everyone's welcome.

01:11Yeah, dart board, yeah, with the pink surround to match my hair.

01:14Yeah, yeah, I'm loving that.

01:15We've got the pink Cadillac behind you.

01:17Yeah.

01:18I mean, we're in the smoking shelter at the moment.

01:21When was that done, then?

01:22That was done during the rebuild, so that was done by a local guy, Neil Willis.

01:26Yeah.

01:27His company's called Our Unique Art.

01:29He's done a lot of stuff locally.

01:31Yeah.

01:32Mostly, you would have seen the bridges between Hadley and Kettley.

01:37Okay.

01:38That's Neil, so really good.

01:41But yeah, I asked him to do something rockabilly because that's what I am.

01:48And I guess the regulars were pleased that it was someone that they knew that took it on.

01:52Yeah.

01:53We've been pondering on it for a long time, and yeah, a decision was made, and here we are.

02:00So do you get a day off at all?

02:02How does it work?

02:03We get the odd night off.

02:05I've got staff that cover weekends for me, so I do get some time off, but yeah, mostly it's done by us.
