Watch: Warrnambool Swimming Club's Eli Kerr is off to the Australian Swimming Trials
Transcript
00:00Thanks for joining us Eli. You're off to swim at the Australian World Trials in
00:05Adelaide. Can you tell us a bit about that? Yeah, so I'm gonna go to the
00:10Australian World Trials and hopefully just have a fun time and see what it's
00:16like to verse the big men who are the quickest in Australia. And it's an open
00:22event so you're only 14 and you'll be competing against people of all ages. How
00:27exciting is that for you? It's pretty exciting, mainly just to know that I
00:31have the times of these fully grown adults. It's pretty cool. And with your
00:37swimming schedule you live out here on this beautiful farm in Newfield near
00:40Timboon and you have to drive in most mornings to Warrnambool to train. Can
00:44you tell us about that? Well it's an early start at 4.30 a.m. and then it's off to
00:51Warrnambool, train for two hours, it's an hour drive over there. Then I drive back,
00:57eat recce in the car and then go to school and then sometimes have another
01:02training after school. And what's that like, sort of that hectic schedule for
01:05you? It's not too bad, I just get a lot of sleep. Pretty, pretty knocked out most
01:11nights. Excellent. And what do you enjoy about swimming Eli? Mainly just the people
01:17that are at our swimming and then just, it's just an amazing sport. I just really
01:23really love it. And long term, what are your goals? Go to Olympics, win gold medals
01:28and hopefully get a couple of records. No worries, well best of luck. Thank you.
