More than 35 Marine Rescue Port Macquarie volunteers have been praised by Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Alex Barrell for their tireless efforts during the recent flood emergency that impacted the Port Macquarie region.

00:00Over 600 hours dedicated by more than 35 of our wonderful volunteers from Port Macquarie.
00:20It's just a huge effort. Many of our volunteers were personally affected by the flood event,
00:25so to give their time to the community, put themselves second and support their local members of the community was just outstanding.
00:34As an agency, we've spent a lot of time over the last two years just growing our capability in flood response.
00:40Through the development of our state operations group, it's really enhanced our capability to support the whole government response to flood events.
00:47We've seen it in this recent event, we saw it in Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
00:51It's just really wonderful to see how much we've grown as an agency, but also the effort that's gone into this from all of our volunteers.
00:59Monday week, we had reports that we were going to be getting heavy.

01:10Monday rain, when it did start rain here in Port Macquarie.
01:13On Wednesday, our SOG team were activated and we become part of the combat agency in the Mid-North Coast and Port Macquarie area.
01:24I'm very proud of the team. They've done 620 hours out on the water.
01:29We also had the LOs over at the EOC liaison.
01:32And not only that, the fundraising team were also committed to keeping our members fed and morale high.

01:42We worked 24-7 throughout the whole duration, right up to the recovery stage.
01:48There were a lot of hours put in.
01:50People just kept coming forward, putting their hand up to do more and more and more.
01:53As it is, every mission that we were tasked, we completed and succeeded and no lies for loss.
