00:00hello friends when I was looking for uLauncher in the AUR I found something

00:07called DLauncher which says it's an application launcher for Linux that is

00:13based on uLauncher here it is I never used this piece of software and it was

00:23last updated three years ago from the date of this video which is not

00:28something good I hesitated before making this video since I found that this piece

00:36of software is not maintained at least for at least from my guesses anymore

00:44however we will still try it the dependencies nothing is mentioned here

00:50when you see the video of uLauncher you will see that there are many

00:58dependencies that were pulled when the installation was executed so let's go

01:09to the home directory of this user you can install definitely this piece of

01:15software using any AUR helper simply by running the command yay or paru dash

01:22uppercase s DLauncher and it's gonna do the installation for you and make you

01:29skip some of the steps that I'm gonna do here it will prompt you to input your

01:33password and whether you accept to continue with the installation or not you

01:39simply select y for yes and it's gonna continue so you can take this link by

01:47clicking on it like for any other application once you are there and then

01:54with git which you can install by running sudo pacman dash s git which I do have

02:02installed and thus I don't need to install it again we do git clone and we paste

02:12here this is the link I checked the github page for this piece of software it's also

02:25kind of I'm not sure it looks like it's not maintained I'm not sure since it can be it

02:37can still be maintained but it wasn't updated for a while so let's run this

02:45command let's clear out the screen you can of course install it on almost any

02:52Linux distribution by running the commands git clone this one git clone and

02:59then make build since it looks like it wasn't updated in a while it may fail

03:08which is the reason for me to hesitate about installing this so let's go to the

03:15new folder that was created with the name of the application which is the

03:19launcher I press a tab for the autocompletion and then make pkg or make

03:28package dash s i enter if this is gonna compile it may take a while

03:40the password here for the user root password y and enter done okay let's

03:48clear out the screen I'm gonna remove u launcher because it may overlap with

03:57the launcher for the keyboard shortcuts so let's remove u launcher like this password y and enter

04:12let's look for the newly installed app

04:14the launcher

04:18the launcher nope I thought we installed it uh cd

04:36the launcher yeah so it didn't make a launcher a launcher for the application in the desktop

04:52it says that it started the application but nothing appeared on the screen

07:40there were some issues in case you wanted to do the same

07:45which are these two files that they do exist

07:49probably they need to be removed

07:52since after removing them the installation worked

07:55the installation didn't want to work

07:57at the beginning it says fail to install built packages

08:00and the error was

08:03due to to the existence of these two files

08:06i removed them as you can see here

08:10the two files are

08:11slash usr slash lib slash debug slash usr slash bin slash d launcher dash toggle dot debug

08:20and slash usr slash lib slash debug slash usr slash bin slash d launcher dot debug

08:28when i run make package make pkg dash si

08:32the installation succeeded

08:36the launcher to start the application we run the launcher toggle

08:43it doesn't like the window doesn't appear immediately

08:48i don't know why

08:50it may be a bug

08:53it's supposed to be faster let's first try to run this in the background
