00:00Andy Williams, what do you make of that exchange there?
00:03You were looking a little bit, you were bristling a bit then when Patrick was having that conversation.
00:06I was. I've got a couple of issues with that.
00:08Firstly, I think, look, what you see is what you see, and there's no denying that.
00:14I think the tone of some of the report is not to my taste.
00:19You can't just say, well, the camera protects me, so it doesn't show what it would show otherwise.
00:24Like, the camera shows what it shows.
00:25If there were people out there attacking Patrick and being aggressive towards him, they would be.
00:31They weren't. Actually, what we saw is people having a kickabout there.
00:35These are human beings.
00:37Now, I'm not saying that we should just open the floodgates and allow everyone into Britain.
00:42But you saw a man there, I think he was from Sudan, who said, all I want is a good life and a safe life and a good home.
00:51And I'm not suggesting that we should be the people who pay for that.
00:54But that's a noble aim. We have to think about these people as human beings.
00:58And the other thing I'd say, and I completely, completely reject, is Patrick said, we're here calling out Yvette Cooper and Keir Starmer's lies.
01:08They have never lied once about the scale of this problem. Never.
01:13They've always been completely transparent about it.
01:15You can agree or disagree about how they've handled it, about whether they've made progress.
01:20And if you look at the small boats numbers, they've not made progress, but they've never lied once about it.
01:24And that is completely unfair.
01:26Do you know what I find the most shocking about watching that report is that Calais has turned into a third world country.
01:32The fact that the French people have allowed this to happen, and this is a sign of things to come.
01:37If we continue to allow the people who are coming over here en masse into our country and we run out of hotels, we run out of space,
01:44because that's what will happen eventually. This is the future for Great Britain.
01:48It will look like Calais does today.
01:51But it's not, it's not Alex.
01:53Well, but it's going to...
01:54No, it's not because we're an island by definition. It's the other way around. It wouldn't work like that.
01:58It's happening in France. Right.
01:59Now, if all those people, which Patrick said, the vast majority of them are coming here and they are waiting to come here,
02:05and we don't have enough space for all those thousands of people that are queuing up, where do they go?
02:09And we're already seeing the tents. I've seen them in Paddington.
02:12I can see them down the road from here. I can see them in London. It's happening in Richmond.
02:16So to tell me that it's not happening is absolute nonsense, Andy.
02:19You don't know who's in those tents.
02:22We've just seen...
02:23No, I'm talking about here in London.
02:25I'm saying the crisis is bad enough that there's not enough space for British people to have homes.
02:29And we want to have...
02:30But it's a different question.
02:31Esther, let's bring... I want to hear Esther's take...
