00:00If I want to show my belly, I'm show my belly.
00:10I was called the human jelly donut.
00:15They were promoting obesity.
00:17No, no, I'm promoting me.
00:24For me, giving up is not an option.
00:30When I go to the parlor and the lady is like, I'm going to charge you extra so-and-so rupees for more wax that you're going to need.
00:58Because of the surface area is more.
01:00My question to them is like, if I get a really thin friend of mine, are you going to charge her less?
01:07I've literally had doctors just look up and down at me and they're like, yeah, it's because of your weight.
01:14I'm paying more on premiums.
01:15I'm paying more for insurance.
01:16I'm not getting the treatment.
01:18There is very significant monetary also discrimination in addition to the mental health discrimination or visual discrimination and shaming that goes on.
01:33I'm an Anjana Bapat from Mumbai, India.
01:39I work as a statistical programmer for a clinical research organization by day.
01:44And I teach belly dance.
01:46I do stand-up comedy.
01:47I'm a plus-size model and a body-positive influencer.
01:50One of the reasons I do so many things is because my brain is not cluttered with mein patli kaise ho the whole time.
02:02I've always been a larger body.
02:05I've been a girl in a bigger body.
02:06And I'm very comfortable with the word fat.
02:11Bachpan se only, there was quite a bit of bullying.
02:14It was based on size.
02:15So I did not ground myself and did not find myself.
02:20I kept on internally cringing, becoming smaller, wanting to be invisible, breaking, breaking, breaking.
02:29I think the first time I got like genuine support just for me, not that your face is beautiful, but if you lose weight, but just you are beautiful.
02:38The first time I think I got that was like when I was 23 years old, when I moved to Pune to study.
02:43Oh my god, you're looking so good, like just full stop.
02:51The first time I started seeing the mirror and seeing what I used to see as a child, where there was none of this insecurity.

03:15里面
03:15回想以前的我完全就是一个完美主义者。
03:17从小的时候,父母都希望我每一科都要考100分。
03:20我甚至很多事情我要想办法做到超乎别人的预期。
03:24I don't think it's a good thing.
03:26I don't think it's a good thing.
03:28I'm not thinking about the body.
03:32I think it's all about the things that I do.
03:34I think that all of the things that I do
03:36are more than one of the things I do.
03:38So I don't have to control the body.
03:40I don't have to control the body.
03:42Ah!
03:44We're on a person with a person.
03:48He doesn't say no.
03:52I just can't do it.
03:54I'm doing it.
03:56I'm doing it.
03:58I'm 40 years old.
04:00I'm a doctor.
04:02I'm a doctor.
04:04I'm a doctor.
04:06I'm also a doctor.
04:08I remember the year of 2019.
04:12I'm very difficult.
04:14I can't take any time.
04:16When I wake up,
04:20when I wake up,
04:22I feel like today's morning,
04:24my first time,
04:26I'm going to be able to use my phone.
04:28So I'm going to use my phone to use my phone.
04:30When I get my phone to use my phone,
04:32I'm going to find my body.
04:34Then I feel like
04:35I'm going to be able to make a thing.
04:40And in my experience and experience,
04:42that's not a miracle.
04:48My first thought is
04:50that all things I don't want to let anyone know.
04:57I can only be able to survive this past year.
04:59After that,
05:00I can be able to do anything that hasn't happened.
05:02I can be able to do something that hasn't happened.
05:04I can be able to do something that hasn't happened.
05:06I've faced a tremendous bullying in school.
05:23I was called a human jelly donut.
05:27And it had quite a negative impact
05:31on the way I perceived myself and still do actually.
05:36There needs to be an understanding
05:39that bullying can indeed destroy an individual's,
05:44you could say, self-image.
05:50I wish that I had enough courage
05:53to be able to go and defend myself.
05:59I think speaking up is the most important thing.
06:01And not being scared of speaking up.
06:06My name is Isha Shaikh
06:07and I'm from Lahore, Pakistan.
06:09And I am a tech entrepreneur.
06:14I was diagnosed with childhood obesity as a kid.
06:17And I really struggled with my weight.
06:20I struggled with curbing.
06:23I began to feel so ugly and fat and worthless.
06:33So weight loss and my overall health
06:38was a very big part of my childhood
06:40and played a very huge role in who I am today.
06:44The journey to self-acceptance is a very tough one.
06:53It's something that requires you to break down mentally,
06:59to re-explore and rediscover yourself.
07:02And it's not an easy one.
07:03But it's definitely a doable one.
07:05But it's definitely a doable one.
07:06It's the same way for me.
07:07I have a sure and everything.
07:15Why do you feel good for me?
07:17I've met so many patients who come to healthcare.
07:21Why do you feel good for me and I used to have to take care of?
07:53I don't know what I'm talking about.
08:00I really don't know what I'm talking about.
08:05But I don't know what I'm talking about.
08:08Because I don't want anyone to know that I'm a patient.
08:17So I'm looking for a different part of my hair.
08:20I don't want to find the hair.
08:22I don't know what I'm talking about.
08:24I don't know what I'm talking about.
08:27I think I couldn't talk to you about the two years ago.
08:31I never thought of this.
08:34I don't want to understand this.
08:37I don't want to understand this.
08:41I don't want to think about my mind.
08:43I don't want to find the man to say.
08:49Kiko was a game that we developed, it's a game that reflects and that is an embodiment
09:07of my journey with weight loss and it's about a superhero who is ready to save the world
09:15from obesity, and especially childhood obesity, by fighting all of these characters, these
09:22junk food.
09:32Eventually the game became secondary to the overall vision of PlayPal.
09:39It was inspired by my father actually.
09:44So when I was a kid at eight years old, I had gained a lot of weight.
09:50And the doctors obviously because there is diabetes as well as thyroid in my family history
09:56told my parents that I have to be extra careful.
10:00So because now it was becoming a medical concern, my father said, okay, if you lose 25 pounds
10:09or 30 pounds, I will give you $1,000 to buy all the toys you want.
10:15So I took up the challenge, I have done all kinds of diets.
10:21And I ended up losing all that weight and I ended up getting rewarded for the weight loss.
10:28External motivation really worked in enabling me to lose that weight and actually becoming
10:34normal weight at that age.
10:38We realized that if you actually incentivize children and even individuals with external
10:48real world rewards, they're more likely to stay on track with their health goals and their
10:54weight goals.
10:55What's your goal for?
10:56How does the game happen?
10:57What's your goal for?
10:58PlayPal is an app and device agnostic platform that gives you tailored recommendations on what
11:05you should and should not do using artificial intelligence.
11:08How does the game happen?
11:13i dance excellent i know i'm not modest about things that i'm good at
11:26belly dance came in at the time that a lot of personal transitions in terms of self-acceptance
11:35were happening and i do remember the day i decided to tuck my t-shirt up and like comfortably have
11:40my belly visible and dance and actually see the maya and the moves that i'm doing
11:44confidence that comfort to do my own thing and not care about what anybody is saying came through
12:07belly dance i was asked if i want to be an instructor i had not expected the joy i will feel in teaching
12:16but uh it's wonderful to walk into a room make someone feel safe
12:26i love the dms that i get and like i'm fat will i be able to dance
12:32so there is a lot of insecurity based on size based on will i have to show my belly
12:43only if you want to
12:46i want to be that safe space for somebody coming to learn
12:52i think we need to shift the narrative from lose weight so that you look good to let's lose weight
13:15so that you can be healthier so that you can feel good about your body
13:21beauty standards all over the world are problematic
13:27body shaming operates as a whole across different countries and across different cultures
13:35and um it's extremely normalized in pakistan you can't just one day be negative about your body
13:43and be hearing all these negative things and wake up the next day as a part of this movement
13:46and just say oh now i'm going to be positive about my body there is a lot of inner work
13:51that has to go into exploring yourself discovering yourself to enable yourself to be body positive
14:00when i do stand up on stage i love taking the audience on a ride about me being fat and it's
14:18like it's hilarious i enjoy it arjun tells me anjana your curves are so amazing but you need to lose
14:25weight i lost all 70 kilos of arjun so i also started my instagram page because i was like
14:32i'm going through this transition of feeling myself again feeling confident again
14:40i would love to share this journey because 10 years ago i wish i had somebody like that
14:45to just tell me that it's okay and there wasn't anybody so like if i get a chance to be that for
14:50somebody i am all for it so i just want to show up as me
15:02a lot of comments that i get are i'll just address one rider one comes to me like
15:08you're showing too much of yourself in the sari iski kya zarurut hai
15:11i was like problem ki hai i am comfortable in it if you're not
15:13it's just that simple i think that really resonates with people in terms of i am also
15:23learning to say no and i'm also learning to take agency of my own body
15:28and that has been really helpful so thank you for that
15:34it's like i know that i am okay with what i am i'm okay with who i am
15:37my role is to check my blood work every once in a while because that is the only parameter i'm going
15:44to see and that is the only parameter i'm going to trust
15:51i don't want people who are resonating with me to expect acceptance from the world because that is a
15:57long long way of me
16:09i really thank you for the help of the Lord
16:12before i met a mental disorder before i met a mental disorder
16:16so when i had a chance to face a mental disorder
16:19i will continue to make a mental disorder
16:21a month and a month and a month
16:24Then in a month of mental health, I started to look at the heart
16:30It's going to tell me what I want to tell
16:37But I had the first experience
16:40Actually, my brain and my body
16:44We've never been on and on
16:47We've always been friends
16:50So, the first time I was in my head
16:56I really wanted to sit down and sit down
17:00And then I would like to say goodbye
17:03I'm really sorry for so many years
17:06I've always been a tool for you
17:08And so many years, I didn't care for you
17:12Your body of any thoughts
17:20I know
17:22I know
17:24I gave this journey to me
17:26It's not that I think
17:27Okay, I'm going to be healthy
17:28I'm going to go back to my life
17:30No, he wants me to do a new life
17:32He wants me to do a new life
17:38Then I went back to my old home
17:42I asked him to ask him
17:44What do you mean
17:46What do you mean
17:48What do you mean
18:16I don't want to be a perfect person.
18:18I just want to do a good thing.
18:21I'm happy, healthy, and happy.
18:46I don't want to be a perfect person.
