00:00:00welcome back we know what the drivers do when they get to the track but what do they do on
00:00:11the way to the track we decided to plant some cameras in the FTR guys and also the
00:00:18Nissan Motorsport guys on the way to the track early this morning James Moffitt in control
00:00:22gee frosty looks Zoe had a late one Wilbur's driving comfortably so it's all pretty nice
00:00:29and easy and relaxed and then they get here and everything changes when those helmets go on
00:00:34Scafie's joining us because we're talking about a wonderful history at Queensland Raceway we first
00:00:39came here in 1999 it's hosted the Queensland 500 endurance race four times you won one of those as
00:00:45well so we've decided to get Mark's top five over those years in those moments there's been some
00:00:50crackers let's start Scafie in 2001 I've got your list this was one of the all-time great scenes I
00:00:55reckon in V8 supercar history Paul Radicich and Stevie Johnson in the in the Enduro well it was
00:01:00weird wasn't it Matt because it was a really good race and it was like today the heavens opened and
00:01:05have a look at the water I don't ever remember we battled all day with them Jason Bright and I we ended
00:01:10up having a an engine failure and have a look I could not believe how hard it rained look at Larry
00:01:16Perkins I've never seen it rain more heavily at this racetrack to finish the race and there he is
00:01:23he's out there Radicich with Stevie Johnson and this bloke I mean he made history that night he was all
00:01:29over our television screens joining the party that is uh Dick Johnson racing's only victory at this
00:01:35circuit in all those years and consider that this is one of their this is their test track well it was
00:01:39one of the most controversial finishes wasn't it the next one was Russell Engel when he was dead set the
00:01:43enforcer this was a sprint round and a really weird thing about this this was 2000 Mike Imrie we
00:01:49actually showed you this in the previous telecast but he turned him around in a straight line that
00:01:56cost ten thousand dollars in Russell Engel's fine account oh and that was one of the best bits of
00:02:04driving Larry Perkins almost hit that car that was an extraordinary piece of car control from Larry
00:02:11Perkins unbelievable scenes Mike Imrie uh decided to retire at the end of season 2000 he said that
00:02:17him and Russell had a little chat in the stewards room but he reckons that Russell still hasn't
00:02:20apologized for that oh that's the enforcer yeah exactly I wouldn't hold your breath 2005 another huge
00:02:26moment at this racetrack moment number three well I don't even remember seeing a bigger crash this is
00:02:32Paul Morris and the late great Jason Richards that was one of the most violent rollovers blue green blue
00:02:38green blue green I've never seen a car fire over on its roof as hard as that and that's because of
00:02:45that curb see the curb that's been removed now from a safety standpoint it was pretty wild it was a
00:02:51little bump between the two cars and it was just extraordinary meant to see the car roll over with
00:02:56such ferociousness that was the Dodo Commodore out of Tasman Motorsport and of course Jason Richards also
00:03:00had a massive roll over again at Pukekohe but now let's move on to 2007 and a battle royale that
00:03:07involved you Jamie Winkup and Garth Tander yeah so that's my car that Tander was there with now the
00:03:12only reason I stayed in the lead here all bumping and Winkup runs into the back of me we're running
00:03:17into Garth again the Wink they're all bumping it was one of the best opening laps of a race I've ever
00:03:23been in in my life and the reason we stay in the lead is I get another bump from Tander this is great
00:03:28so we talk about the quality of racing and the reason that I laugh and joke about this
00:03:34is that when you want to race against the very very best drivers and the little bumping and
00:03:39touching it's a real professional gamesmanship standpoint I enjoyed those opening laps better
00:03:45than any other race I've ever had yeah great memories and great to see those old liveries as
00:03:48well and the final one is something that we've been talking about throughout the course of today and
00:03:52especially today this has been a track where a lot of the youngsters have really come of age
00:03:56and it certainly happened with James Moffat the DJR Jim Beam entry back in 2011 well he went from
00:04:0211th to 4th we actually commented I know Neil and I were talking at the time that it was a very mature
00:04:08drive it was a coming of age for young James Moffat he did a very good job here yesterday also Matt
00:04:13to finish up in the top 10 with the Nissan Altima but he's a really good operator at this style of
00:04:18circuit and that was a very important drive for his career and also Tim Slade that weekend as well
00:04:22when he trailed Craig Lowndes and finished on the podium there we heard from Tim Slade earlier
00:04:26great memories mate we're going to go down to pit lane and just check in with Barretts
00:04:29yeah the Coats higher Ipswich 360 Matty and of course these races these rounds wouldn't run
00:04:34without the infrastructure from Coats higher and Mark Kane is with me from Coats Mark
00:04:38everything from generators to fencing to traffic control that all comes from you guys
00:04:42yeah look all over Australia for the whole series we're the backbone supporting the events
00:04:47without our equipment the events wouldn't run whether it be powering up the pit lane or the
00:04:54hospitality tents providing buildings scissor lifts traffic control for people coming and
00:04:59going from the event we're we're here at every event including Ipswich of course yeah and great
00:05:04to have his naming rights sponsor here too and extending that deal as well and of course you're
00:05:08also in with the Holden Racing team which is great they're doing the right thing for you at the moment
00:05:11yeah well we've got a great partnership with the Ipswich race and we're continuing that and
00:05:16that's been really good supporting the local community look our customers love the V8s and
00:05:22so do our people as well so with a local event it really allows us to sort of galvanize all that
00:05:27yeah yeah it's an awesome event and a great partnership I mean you control just about
00:05:31everything on the track except the weather Mark so we don't know what's going to happen
00:05:34there we'll wait and see it's been a bit changeable today hasn't it yeah thanks mate great to see you
00:05:38no worries cheers there you go guys well done Barretts great supporters of course of the V8
00:05:42Supercar Championship Coats higher and I was up on one of their scissor lifts earlier today so I
00:05:47got a nice panoramic view and I could tell you that the weather was coming and I was spot on so
00:05:51we've done our little trip down memory lane as we look down pit lane our focus is now on the present
00:05:56in about 15 and a half minutes time we will go racing again the last race of the weekend at a track
00:06:01the fans and the drivers love
00:06:03always provides great racing here there's always been plenty of action
00:06:10it is a very simple layout when you look at it on paper but it is quite technical you need a car
00:06:15that rides the bumps well high speed stability and good braking and good power down so you need a bit
00:06:20of everything here they're playing for keeps the boys it's four at rest it's always a great spot to
00:06:24watch from the hill the cars look sensational over the bumps at turn one it's always a handful inside
00:06:29the car hundredths tenths of a second will mean the difference between probably five spots on the
00:06:37grid it's pretty hard on the tires here at Queensland Raceway so at the end of the race is pretty cool
00:06:44this is soft tire versus hard tire and he only just made it so this is an extremely crucial round for
00:06:51this year's championship
00:06:52it's been a day of ever-changing conditions here at the Queensland Raceway and within about 11 and a
00:07:08half minutes we'll be good to go for the final 100 kilometers at the Coats higher 360 let's check in
00:07:13with Mark Larkham thanks Matthew Whitewell Queensland Raceway I've done a little bit of a quick sketch of
00:07:19it up there they call it the paper clip and you can pretty well see why I love this circuit it's only
00:07:23a little bit over three kilometers it's really busy got some really good overtaking opportunities
00:07:27but you can see the inverse nature of it and that's quite unique and that creates unique racing now what
00:07:32is particularly important here is the start we're obviously about to see one if we look at the racing
00:07:36line at this circuit as we come on here's the start line racing line looks something like you know
00:07:41you're out wide you'll get an apex and then you run all the way down the outside of the circuit into turn
00:07:46one so what that means when all the cars line up here in two rows down there all the guys on the
00:07:52left hand side are sitting on top of the rubber now there's a shower of rain out there so I can
00:07:56tell you now I just had a look they're all sitting on a dry line so those guys those guys will get the
00:08:00jump now we saw it in the race early today where Chas Mostert was sitting out here got the jump
00:08:05try to catch Jamie Winkup now this is the clever bit about Queensland Raceway because of the nature of the
00:08:10layout when you get the jump down here what you've got to do is get yourself over onto the
00:08:14inside as quickly as you can Chas stayed outside try to make more positions and nothing wrong with
00:08:21trying to do that but when you're doing that here you've got to be thinking about what happens down
00:08:24here because you get all the way right around here and you're still on the outside and bang puts you
00:08:29in the wrong position for turn four so as a driver you've got to be thinking well down the road now so
00:08:35talking about thinking the guys are really experienced in this get really good at they do what they read
00:08:39the play they look up ahead see what's happening now I want you to have a look at this little bit of
00:08:43vision this is we're going to have a look first of all at Garth Tander this is on Alex Davidson
00:08:47now from in car you can see he's hung back he's looked at this cast too wide down into turn six
00:08:53waits for them to get in a bit of a battle and whack up he goes up the inside now that move there
00:09:00happened at turn six which was a result of coming out of turn five and four if we have a look at this
00:09:04next bit of vision now this is going to be coming out of turn six and into turn one so you've got to
00:09:09think about it back here have a look at this is Rick Kelly now he's thinking about what's happening
00:09:13up ahead he hangs back from Russell Ingle he hangs back there you go from Mostert waits lets them have
00:09:20a kerfuffle bang capitalise it and picks us up capitalises and picks up two positions now that's
00:09:26smart I thought say it's you know it is a thinking man circuit so when you watch these guys race this
00:09:30afternoon just bear a moment they're not just looking over the end of their bonnet you've actually got to
00:09:34think roughly about one kilometre down the track at all times down to you on the grid Grombo
00:09:40yeah it's a wet grid down here at the moment Larko just on the inside of the racing line down to turn one
00:09:45it's actually pretty slippery so these guys that are all down this side of the road they're going to
00:09:49really battle to get 600 plus horsepower to the road just here behind me is Alex Davison
00:09:54few battle scars on this car he's had to work pretty hard for it this weekend but a personal best qualifying
00:09:58he's down in the car there actually that's going to get ugly I'm going to squeeze I think it's Campbell
00:10:02a little in the door if I actually close it sorry Campbell I was going to put a bit of pressure
00:10:06on your back there nice job so far this weekend young Alex you've had to work very hard for it
00:10:11though a bit of push and shove the racing's been real hard this weekend but uh we've had a pretty
00:10:16solid run and uh we've matched our best quality for the year in this race in Pete with p5 so um
00:10:22yeah having a pretty good weekend would I wouldn't mind a bit less contact it's been real crazy but
00:10:27we've sort of got away with it so hard so so far it's been good fun good luck we'll be watching
00:10:32and looking forward to enjoying it alongside is the man that cleaned up in the last race
00:10:36Scott McLaughlin fantastic performance Richard Holways at the door his engineer
00:10:39and uh Krusty great job congratulations perfect performance in that last one
00:10:43yeah no he did a great job yeah fault free from start to finish outstanding it was outstanding for
00:10:50a young guy who's still in his maiden main game v8 supercar season Scotty McLaughlin that was a very
00:10:55good run you got some hard work to do in this one yeah yeah but uh could be worse I'm sixth in the
00:11:00group uh I think we've got a pretty good car obviously um but uh yeah just see what we can
00:11:04do from here all right mate have a good run watch out for the slippery stuff out there hey by the way
00:11:08you know earlier on in the broadcast we speculated about what the story was with Gary Rogers and the
00:11:13weird looking Mexican mustache and the sideburns and all the rest of it well it turns out he'd been
00:11:18talking to the girls that do some of the promo work for Fujitsu they got into a conversation
00:11:22about makeup so they took to him with a marker pen so as funny as those images are the funnier part of the
00:11:28story will be when he gets home and tries to get it off I'll look forward to following that one up
00:11:32with him personal best qualifying also Wes McDougall engineer here and Tim Slade nice performance in the
00:11:39Erebus Motorsport Benz you must be pretty stoked to be at the sharp end yeah it's awesome to be uh this
00:11:45close to the front we haven't quite had the race pace um just with the way our car setup is at the
00:11:51moment it's tends to be quite good when you're by yourself and you can fire into the car into the
00:11:56corners pretty hard and really maximize it that way but yeah we've struggled in the race being
00:12:02being close to other people so made quite a few changes for this one so um hopefully it helps a
00:12:07little bit well great form here in the recent past we saw some tremendous performances from Tim
00:12:11a couple of years ago and I'm sure he's going to perform very strongly over here we've got Davey
00:12:16Reynolds who's had a pretty strong weekend as well but remember in that last race he locked up
00:12:20a front tire and put a huge flat spot on it and the expectation is that hopefully you won't do
00:12:24that in this one Davey but you've qualified nicely uh yeah I've got to stop uh locking my
00:12:30tires and crashing into people but um yeah third up the grid this time so hopefully make amends with
00:12:34this race all right go and have a good one enjoy it tricky conditions will it or won't it shower
00:12:40we'll sneak up to the next row of the grid because this is an outstanding story we don't have a lot of
00:12:44time here I remember I talked about yesterday the Navy's involvement in Ford Performance Racing so
00:12:49there's some of the boys that have been giving them a hand and they're also giving Chas
00:12:53Mazda to hand this weekend because remember some of the engineering support for these guys comes
00:12:57from Ford Performance Racing he's on loan to Dick Johnson Racing Chas we talked before the start of
00:13:02this race about your start technique in that last one you got a blind to get about 10k's more than
00:13:06everybody down at turn one yeah a bit different conditions now um obviously a bit of rain in the
00:13:11break there so it'll be interesting to see what it hooks up like on this practice start
00:13:14did you fiddle with it have you changed anything or set and forget uh you know we're pretty happy
00:13:18we're sixth in the last race so um I think we had a pretty good race card Bridie come strong at us in
00:13:22the last one but um I think we tweaked it a little bit but not much we can't give all our secrets away
00:13:27no you've had a little bit of experience in the wet and the development series races previously good
00:13:31luck in this one we're mighty impressed with this guy and over here alongside him is Mark
00:13:36Winterbottom in fact you know what we're out of time I do want to say hello to Rusty French very
00:13:39quickly though co-owner for Ford Performance Racing nice to see you in the main game yeah we're very
00:13:43very much enjoying it and uh this weekend we've got the whole family here to uh support Will and
00:13:48and uh Mark so uh we're thoroughly enjoying it well it's looking very forward at the top of the list
00:13:54here at the moment good time to be involved nice to see you Rusty supporting these guys Matty
00:13:58I think this is going to be good at the moment though to the east it does look a little bit clearer
00:14:02but who knows yeah that's been the pattern throughout the day hasn't it Crompo so Dean Fiore's
00:14:07Dodo Commodore is being pushed back down pit lane and you mentioned that it's all very blue
00:14:13at the front of the grid which it is Ford one two and three the last Ford Falcon to win at
00:14:19Queensland Raceway was James Courtney in 2010 when he did that clean sweep weekend had nine different
00:14:27race winners in season 2013 Wynn Cup Coulthard Lowndes Bright Winterbottom Will Davison Scotty
00:14:33McLaughlin Shane Van Gisbergen and Garth Tander
00:14:36so the stage is once again being set on what has been a long and quite fascinating weekend when
00:14:47you think we rolled out with the 60-60 super sprint yesterday and Jamie Wynn Cup's day of
00:14:53domination was in total control and then today everything changed the weather changed on us of
00:14:58course the format changes Scott McLaughlin gets on the winners list yet again and now we've got
00:15:03Will Davison on the front row of the grid with young Chas Mostert as we take a look at the track map here
00:15:08so it's our eighth event next one is Winton and then we go into the Endurance Cup
00:15:13just outside of Ipswich about 40 minutes southwest of Brisbane it's called the paperclip
00:15:19six turns Mark Larkham has run us through it and 3.12 kilometers is the distance top speed down there on
00:15:27approach to turn three of about 250 kilometers and the wind has been changing pretty much throughout
00:15:33the day as well it will be a tailwind down there along the back straight Berets well matey the view
00:15:37out here from Will Davison's car on pole position is magnificent just that track looks a little damp
00:15:42ahead of you Will what's the plan I know there's been a lot of talk in the best way to get the dry line
00:15:46what have you come up with isn't pole position meant to be an advantage it's not sitting here
00:15:52right now it's obviously the nature of the conditions and yeah I'm on the the inside so
00:15:57it's still quite wet in front of me Chas has got a bit of dry dry track in front of him so
00:16:02I don't know I'm looking around now I'm trying to spot where it's the driest and
00:16:06trying to avoid the lines but there's only so much you can do so I'll just have a bit of a gamble on
00:16:12my throttle and hopefully get away cleanly but this is going to be tough have a great race
00:16:16well cheers thanks now here's a really good indicator of what I'm showing you there before
00:16:20out here on the on the grid now look on this side of the track which is the racing line
00:16:24that is pretty well dry over here absolutely wet and if you're Jason Bright up there with that water
00:16:30underneath his tyres the best thing he could do is a big stinking burnout get as much heat onto the
00:16:35tarmac as he can go around on his warm-up lap and grid straight up right on top of the two dry marks
00:16:40that hopefully leaves there just want to grab a really quick word to Lee Holdsworth mate I'm with you in
00:16:44this race a thousand percent mate you desperately need a change of luck tell me about it Larko
00:16:50it's just been a disastrous run and it'd be nice just to get to the finish line really
00:16:56I'll just say mate the really good for you news for you mate this side of the track is considerably
00:17:00drier than the right hand side yeah had a look at that and it does look like the dry line you know
00:17:05we're on a dry line here so it's stuck to be on that inside line so hopefully we get an advantage
00:17:10out of this and we can cruise on through with a nice uh safe run
00:17:14he could do with a break couldn't he leave Holdsworth five straight DNFs qualified 14th for this race
00:17:22and it's just so fascinating to think of the difference between one side of the grid
00:17:28to the other and what it can do to your race from the very start so 177 points is the championship
00:17:35difference now after 23 races Will Davison continues that watching brief in third
00:17:41over the two Red Bull Racing Australia Commodore teammates of Jamie Winkup and Craig Lowndes
00:17:48there's the Enforcer 529th career race on board with the Irwin racer of Lee Holdsworth
00:17:59we just heard from him he will put everything into this one Mark Winterbottom starting from
00:18:098th there's his Pepsi Max crew FPR teammate Will Davison from pole position his first pole of 2013
00:18:20he's already on the winner's list twice with victories at Pukekohe and at Townsville
00:18:26let's have a look at the FUSO starting grid as they line up now for race number 24
00:18:43Will Davison from the pole position great performance the 15th of his career and off the back of that
00:18:49Townsville win great performance Chas Mostert alongside him and Davey Reynolds and Tim Slade we
00:18:55spoke to the boys before then Alex Davison and Scott McLaughlin 5th and 6th followed then by James
00:19:00Courtney freshly minted deal for him at the Holden Racing Team Mark Winterbottom alongside the Pepsi Max
00:19:05entry and then it's an all Red Bull following row positions 9 and 10 for Winkup and Lowndes
00:19:11so remember 11th Jason Bright he will be on the inside line all the odd numbers odd starting numbers that
00:19:19is will be on that line the Kelly Brothers 15th and 16th for Jack Daniels Racing
00:19:24Nissan Motorsport Tony Dalberto and Jonathan Webb two Commodores behind them
00:19:30Esgarth Tander from 19th his two results so far this weekend have been an 8th and 11th and they've
00:19:37come from a 19th and a 14th start so it's been a fighting weekend for Garth Tander after that victory
00:19:44in Townsville broke the HRT drought 26th position goes to Scotty Pye a Cole Racing
00:19:52and of course 28 starters to round it out
00:19:56now coming into this event guys we had a best seat in the house competition
00:20:03it's pretty handy isn't it thanks to Coates hire Aaron Bentley won that comp so he's just on approach to turn two there that's where I was earlier on in the day high above turn two he's also got a nice little refreshment tent over there so if it gets a little bit uncomfortable for you in the commentary box we'll run over there
00:20:22the bathroom's a bit tragic yes one way to the bottom and they'll have a bird's eye view
00:20:29you just pointed to the slippery conditions on the outside of the road
00:20:32at turn three we had a great shot there of the racing line and the inside of the road being pretty much dry
00:20:39but all the outside running being wet and this will make a huge difference to how they all approach the braking area for turn three if you get wide you'll find the wetter stuff on the outside
00:20:50and absolutely exit off the road
00:20:53keep coming keep coming
00:20:54a little bit more
00:20:55a little bit of concern in the Will Davison camp about the race performance of car number six at the moment Grant McPherson spoke to you before the start

00:21:39Chas Mostyn easily
00:21:41and look at David Reynolds trying to snake his way through
00:21:45while Jamie Winkup went to the right hand side
00:21:48and dropped a couple of tyres on the inside of the circuit
00:21:51so the youngster Mostyn fires through
00:21:54meanwhile
00:21:54Alex Kremer fires off with Russell Ingle behind him
00:21:58Tim Slade a good start as well
00:22:02so
00:22:03Will Davison's gone from pole back to third
00:22:06so it was 2 and 4 Matt on the spot that you said
00:22:132 and 4 have gone to the lead
00:22:14Dave Reynolds did a very good job
00:22:16and then look at this how slippery it is
00:22:17Alex Davison had real trouble in trying to pull up into turn 3
00:22:21that was a wild start for Will Davison
00:22:24he looked like he was scratching
00:22:25he had to cover with David Reynolds
00:22:27but it's been another ripping start for Chas Mostyn
00:22:31Fabian Coulthard on the outside of Craig Lowndes at turn 4
00:22:35how good would it be for the young bloke to be leading this field
00:22:38his debut year leading the field
00:22:40this is an extraordinary effort
00:22:42he uses the brake line locker to get away Chas
00:22:45I've spoken about his stance before
00:22:46and he also uses a light system
00:22:48he's got it tied to perfection
00:22:49Lowndes out very wide
00:22:51there's plenty going on in that battle for third
00:22:53correction for fourth and fifth there at the moment as well
00:22:56look at McLaughlin and Reynolds they're at it
00:22:58with a bottom in six
00:23:05he's behind here
00:23:07Van Gisburgh and having a look here
00:23:11at Winkup
00:23:12and Lowndes
00:23:14Winkup and Lowndes main contact
00:23:17coming on to start pretty straight that time
00:23:18ended up wide
00:23:20Lowndes got out for the dirt
00:23:21they bumped
00:23:22treacherous conditions out wide there
00:23:29look at them all learning from the first bit
00:23:31Rick Kelly got pushed out there
00:23:32they're going to approach
00:23:35an injured Russell Ingalls car in just a moment or two
00:23:39he's coming down
00:23:41that chute between turn 5 and 6
00:23:43and the front wheels are wobbling away on the super cheap auto Commodore

00:23:56so the order at the moment is

00:24:00how's that for a line up
00:24:01Alex Prem is in the wars there as well
00:24:04after what happened down between turns 1 and 2
00:24:06Mostyn, Slade
00:24:10Will Davis and McLaughlin
00:24:11Reynolds
00:24:12Winterbottom, Courtney
00:24:13Davis and Coulthard
00:24:14and Bright
00:24:15then just outside the top 10 of the Red Bull cars
00:24:18Mostyn not hanging around
00:24:19that's a 10.97 on the second lap of the race
00:24:22fastest lap of the race for Mostyn
00:24:24so not only is he leading
00:24:25he's leading it with style
00:24:27he's done a very good job
00:24:29of staying in that groove
00:24:30you've got to make sure you hold the car
00:24:33on the light coloured bit of bitumen
00:24:35the bit of road that you know is dry
00:24:37you can tell the difference of the colour there
00:24:39and Slade off the road
00:24:41and an unbelievable opportunity then
00:24:44to be up and on the podium
00:24:47and a mistake
00:24:48we'll have a look for you
00:24:49but I think he's done that by himself
00:24:51because it was a big gap to Davidson
00:24:52in the braking area
00:24:53you can't make those sorts of blues
00:24:55when you've got those opportunities
00:24:57what a terrible
00:24:58terrible thing for him
00:25:00after such a terrific qualifying performance
00:25:02and such a terrific job
00:25:04in the early phase of this race

01:02:48thought I'd get it

01:02:50the next couple

01:02:50but I'm so thankful

01:02:53up well and the
01:02:54team gave me a
01:02:55brilliant car today
01:02:55it was weird that
01:02:56we spoke pre-race
01:02:57when we sat down
01:02:58up in the garage
01:02:59about how good
01:02:59your starts were
01:03:00that one almost
01:03:01was a jump but it
01:03:02was still a ripping
01:03:02good start
01:03:03yeah the clutch
01:03:04bit a little bit
01:03:05but I just got
01:03:06back out of it
01:03:06and then I was
01:03:06lucky enough to
01:03:07get it ready again
01:03:08for the lights
01:03:08so I got two
01:03:10good starts today
01:03:11I'm really happy
01:03:11with
01:03:11we're going to
01:03:12run you through
01:03:13these highlights
01:03:13of course
01:03:14you started on
01:03:14the left hand
01:03:15side of the
01:03:15circuit as you
01:03:16look at it
01:03:17which is a better
01:03:17racing line in
01:03:18these slippery
01:03:18conditions
01:03:19so you must have
01:03:20had some confidence
01:03:20there obviously
01:03:22starting from the
01:03:23front row that you
01:03:23could take the
01:03:24advantage from that
01:03:25side
01:03:25I definitely had some
01:03:26confidence at the
01:03:26dry line to start
01:03:27but I didn't think
01:03:28I'd get through the
01:03:29first lap in the
01:03:29lead that's for sure
01:03:30I thought Will was
01:03:31going to be coming
01:03:31like a blistering
01:03:32bullet
01:03:32but yeah I'm just
01:03:34so speechless about
01:03:35this and you know
01:03:36it's really good for
01:03:36DJR they've been
01:03:37through a couple of
01:03:38bad times the last
01:03:38couple of years and
01:03:39hopefully this can pick
01:03:40them back up
01:03:40clearly one of the
01:03:41big issues to manage
01:03:42was the left front
01:03:43tyre and what was
01:03:44going on there
01:03:44tell us about the
01:03:45feeling and your
01:03:45thoughts and the
01:03:46messages you were
01:03:47getting
01:03:47yeah it was really
01:03:47funny my engineer
01:03:48said Scotty was
01:03:49behind me Scotty
01:03:50McLaughlin and he I
01:03:51think he did a front
01:03:52left in and he was
01:03:53like manage your
01:03:53front tyre it's going
01:03:54away and as soon as
01:03:55he said that some
01:03:55weird vibrations
01:03:56started coming up
01:03:57but I'm sure that's
01:03:58probably just to do
01:03:58with being in the
01:03:59lead and yeah just
01:04:00last 10 laps it
01:04:01started getting a
01:04:02little bit more
01:04:02wobbly but I'd love
01:04:03to go have look
01:04:04after the race and
01:04:04see how bad it got
01:04:05but I think everybody
01:04:06was dealing with the
01:04:06same problem
01:04:10and spoke about
01:04:10this guy up at
01:04:11Bathurst in the
01:04:12Dunlop series we
01:04:13saw him punch out
01:04:14some sevens and
01:04:15everybody went wow
01:04:16and I said to Dave
01:04:16what's he like he
01:04:17said he's the real
01:04:18deal and you are
01:04:19the real deal that
01:04:19was an awesome
01:04:20performance today and
01:04:21it was only your
01:04:2113th main game V8
01:04:23supercar race and
01:04:24these images that

01:04:50lifts the spirit of
01:04:50the team is
01:04:51unbelievable and
01:04:52that's you only get
01:04:52that with a
01:04:52legendary status so
01:04:54and he's been
01:04:55great to me he's
01:04:55given me some tips
01:04:56and I've definitely
01:04:56taken them all on
01:04:57board and it's
01:04:58brilliant to have
01:04:59that guy in your
01:05:00corner man there was
01:05:01some action going on
01:05:02around you by the
01:05:02way as well I mean
01:05:03tires were popping
01:05:04left right and
01:05:05center you were
01:05:05coached well by Adam
01:05:06Deborre and just
01:05:07run us through the
01:05:08feeling of that
01:05:08last lap that you
01:05:09had all to yourself
01:05:10oh I knew I had a
01:05:11bit of a gap to
01:05:12Wilbur which was
01:05:13very lucky enough

01:05:14just felt that
01:05:15tire getting more
01:05:16and more bumpy and
01:05:17I was like I don't
01:05:17think it's going to
01:05:18hang in there but
01:05:18when I got around
01:05:19the last corner I
01:05:20was pretty happy

01:05:21pretty good happy

01:05:23thought I'd never

01:09:57be kicking himself because
01:09:58he should have been on the
01:09:59podium based on his
