00:00LT has been outrageous, but last night, I don't think it was an accident,

00:04the Caps' PR sent Logan Thompson and Tom Wilson to the podium together.

00:12What did you make of Willie's game last night, man?

00:17Well, oh, my God.

00:18I mean, everything we were writing down when we were watching the game

00:23was basically about Tom Wilson.

00:27And you're right.

00:28They put them in that post-game presser together because they did that

00:35in the Montreal series, and it just went off quite well.

00:41And I think Tom Wilson is one of the guys that obviously the leadership role

00:49he's taken, but it's that mantle being passed down to him.

00:54It was sort of in the making in 2018 where you're seeing this guy come up.

01:00He's scoring 20, 25 goals a year.

01:03He's getting better offensively, but he's also gaining that mindset of,

01:12well, this is probably going to be, I mean, I say my team, not my team,

01:17but I will take the major leadership role in this team at one point.

01:23And you can see that kind of that mantle being passed to him.

01:27And even if you listen to, like, Coach Carberry's presser after and just how,

01:32you know, if there's an adjustment that needs to be made, it might be Willie,

01:37Tom Wilson, that goes to him and says, what do you think about this?

01:41And what do you think about that?

01:42And I'll be honest with you guys, that doesn't happen from, you know,

01:47a standpoint of a guy who's, you know, maybe in your bottom six or, you know,

01:52you know, your last D pairing or whatever.

01:55It's guys like that that have leadership.

01:57So he just showed, by example, out there how important it is to lead that way.

02:05Like, sacrificing, working hard to get back to pucks, you know,

02:11dislodging guys from the puck.

02:13We already know that he's been so physical and can be dominant that way

02:17with that Carrier hit last series, things like that.

02:22It's just an onslaught.

02:25I'll be honest with you.

02:26If I'm the Carolina Hurricanes and I'm watching what Tom Wilson is doing,

02:30it's like, I'm going to have nightmares because he was all over the ice

02:35when he was out there defensively, you know, chipping in offensively

02:39with the empty net goal and the unbelievable pass, things like that.

02:46It's just so good to see.

02:48I mean, it's going to be even more important because they're going to go

02:53into this hostile environment.

02:54Everyone knows in Carolina, it's going to be so tough to hear,

02:58they're so tough to communicate on the ice and especially the pressure

03:01that they put on you offensively.

03:04There's going to be no room for errors.

03:09You know, you're going to have to be very smart with pucks

03:11and puck management has to be absolutely on point.
