Bukit Aman: NFA status does not mean investigation closed on Faisal acid attack case

Police will continue probing the acid attack on national footballer Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim, despite the case being classified as "No Further Action" (NFA). 00:18Commissioner Datuk Sri Mohamad Shuhayli, Mohamad Zain,

00:21clarified that the NFA classification applies specifically

00:25to the arrest of three individuals and other leads,

00:28such as CCTV footage and a facial sketch,

00:32that were ultimately found to be unrelated to the case.

00:35The three individuals who were previously detained have since been released.

00:40Investigations revealed that the actual suspect had used a false vehicle registration number

00:46and forensic analysis of the suspect's phones showed no link to the incident.

00:52Commissioner Shuhayli also noted that current CCTV footage

00:56and the distributed facial sketch have not led to the identification of the real perpetrator.

01:03He assured that any new developments would be communicated to Faisal's legal representatives

01:08and emphasized that the case remains open.

01:11Commissioner Shuhayli added that the investigation paper would be referred back to the prosecution

01:17if new evidence or new leads emerge and advised the public not to make any speculation that could disrupt the investigation.

01:26Earlier, Faisal's lawyers said they had submitted a request to the Attorney General's chambers, AGC, on April 15th to reopen the case.

01:35Lawyer Nick Zarith Nick Mustfa said they had yet to receive a response.

01:39The AGC had previously informed them via a letter dated February 18th that the case was classified as NFA.

01:46Faisal, the Selangor FC winger, was attacked with acid by an unidentified assailant at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya on May 5th last year.

01:56The 27-year-old sustained fourth-degree burns on multiple parts of his body and was admitted to the intensive care unit for 10 days.
