GISB saga: Cops will expedite investigations

Bukit Aman will expedite its investigation into Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) prioritising the case.  At a press conference on Thursday (Oct 10), CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the police aim to conclude the investigation and prosecute within a month.  He also stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation to prevent GISB from re-emerging under a different name. 00:00On the sheer scale of the investigation, how many investigators were involved, how many hours were spent investigating?

00:12I can say my entire Jabatan Siasatan Denayah focus, this is our top priority.

00:23And today is the 10th of October, we started launching on the 11th of September, it's been almost a month.

00:31So I also discussed with my staff, we have to expedite, because there are many other priorities.

00:40And if Allah wills it, if everything goes smoothly and well,

00:46we will get the results of the investigation within 28 days.

00:57So another one month more to go for us to wrap it and bring it to the court.

01:03And if we get the results and bring it to the court, another 28 days.

01:12So eventually, this investigation team will become longer, smaller and more specialized.

01:20So yeah, that is the time frame that I see.

01:24It all depends on the new investigation and the order.

01:31What do you think the police needs to do to ensure that they are able to restart the game in the future?

01:41Here, I agree with all the agencies that are involved to work together.

01:51Because what we discussed, even earlier, the scope is much bigger than just understanding or ideology.

02:05But from the context of socio-culture and socio-economy,

02:10because this group has their own way of life, their own socio-culture and socio-economy.

02:19So in this context, I urge the government and the agencies that we have invited,

02:26through the Ministry of Insurance, Ministry of Health, JKM,

02:31to look at the approach to recovery from a holistic point of view.

02:37Holistic, not only from the point of view of understanding and ideology, but from the whole.
