Here he is talking about them rallying, getting it done in overtime.
00:04
Very proud.
00:05
Yeah, you know, and it's been, this team has fought all year.
00:09
You know, it's been a pretty good road team.
00:12
We've had to endure some things with guys being out.
00:15
And I think over time that helps you.
00:19
You build up, you know, your mental toughness
00:21
and understanding how important that is.
00:25
And like I said, it's one game.
00:27
There's a lot of, you know, emotional highs and lows in a playoff.
00:31
But no matter what happens, you have to keep moving forward.
00:36
Yeah, I have no idea what that meant.
00:39
All I know is...
00:39
Keep moving forward.
00:41
Yeah, listen, I actually, look, I think the key,
00:44
last year when they lost to the Pacers, right,
00:47
I think that they had guys just break down.
00:50
They had injuries and literally it cost them.
00:54
They couldn't, they flat out couldn't play.
00:56
And, you know, going into this series,
01:00
you had Brunson with the, you know, bad right foot, ankle,
01:03
whatever you want to call it.
01:04
And then basically everybody else was relatively good to go.
01:09
They need to stay healthy in this series against Boston.
01:14
They can't afford to have any of these really five starters go down.
01:19
And then you saw what happened last night when they got in foul trouble.
01:22
I think that every game in this series, you're going to have foul trouble
01:26
because I think the refs are calling it just kind of out of control.
01:31
Like there were guys with three fouls last night.
01:34
By the end of the first quarter, they just called everything.
01:37
I tweeted out that Boston got a call every time they went down the floor.
01:41
And they got more calls than the Knicks.
01:45
Don't be fooled by the free throws and the foul amounts because at least 10 of those
01:50
were on Robinson, right?
01:52
Like they just kept tackling Mitchell Robinson.
01:55
So I thought that somebody's got way more calls in that game last night.
01:59
And they still lost.
02:01
You know why?
02:02
Because they shot like Shaq.
02:04
That's why they lost.
02:06
They blew it.
02:07
And the Knicks took advantage of their broke-ass Jays,
02:11
got the rebounds that they needed because they lost a lot of rebounds to Boston.
02:15
I mean, how many second and third, fourth chances did they get, Mike,
02:20
on rebounds where they scored off of misses?
02:24
Think about it.
02:25
If the Knicks get half of those rebounds, the Knicks win by 15.
02:30
I mean, honestly, because they never hit a shot,
02:32
but they kept getting three rebounds every time they missed.
02:36
Every time, just getting smashed on the glass the entire night.
02:41
But the Knicks were able to still find a way.
02:45
A lot of that was Brunson.
02:46
He had 29 points.
02:47
OG had 29 points hard at 14 and 11.
02:50
Brunson, third player in NBA playoff history with 75-plus points.
02:54
In the fourth quarter of his first seven games in the playoffs,
02:57
only Steph Curry and Kobe Bryant have accumulated that many.
03:02
Think about that for a minute.
03:04
You know what?
03:04
He just won the clutch player of the year in the NBA because he shows up
03:10
and goes off in money time.
03:13
You can call it clutch, whatever.
03:14
Money time.
03:16
Fourth quarter is money time.
03:17
That's win game mode.
03:20
That's what it's all about.
03:23
Here's Brunson, as always, very excited after a big win.
03:27
We totally try to just keep believing and just keep fighting,
03:32
sticking together, and keep chipping away.
03:34
Now, when is it going to be a 20-point shot where you can just come back?
03:40
We try to keep chipping away, possession by possession,
03:41
and then just find a way to keep getting stops
03:45
and making plays on an offensive one as well.
03:48
He said at one point, I heard him in the presser say,
03:51
there's no 20-point shot.
03:54
Yep.
03:54
So, you just got to keep making buckets.
03:57
And they did it.
03:58
And I got to tell you, it really was, I think,
04:05
my favorite Nick win in 30 years.
04:08
I've seen him win absolutely nothing, right?
04:14
Like, I've been here 30 years.
04:16
I have never seen him win anything that mattered.
04:19
I mean, I've seen him beat the Celtics before
04:20
when the Celtics didn't matter,
04:22
when Melo was on that team, remember?
04:25
And all I know is that this was the best win I've ever seen
04:29
in my life as a Nick fan.
04:32
Honestly, like, I was not a Nick fan in 70.
04:36
You understand?
04:36
I wasn't living in New York City in 1970.
04:41
But what's weird is, when I was a kid,
04:44
I was a huge, I loved the Yankees, right?
04:46
I liked, I told you, I loved Mickey Rivers
04:49
and Reggie Jackson and all of them.
04:53
Nettles and, you know, Goose Gossage,
04:55
everything about him I liked.
04:57
George Steinbrenner, I was a fan of his
04:58
when I was a little boy.
04:59
I used to love watching the owner of the Yankees
05:02
cussing out Billy Martin.
05:05
And I thought, I was like, look at this guy.
05:07
I was like seven.
05:09
I'm like, look at this guy, giving this guy the business.
05:12
I want to be around him.
05:14
And then, so I always liked New York.
05:18
I didn't like the Knicks in 1970.
05:21
That's just all there is to it.
05:22
I wasn't privy to that team.
05:25
But this team I like a lot.
05:27
And I've been watching them for a long time.
05:28
And they suck.
05:29
They never get it done.
05:30
So that was the greatest win last night
05:32
I think I've ever seen, Mike.
05:34
I don't know if you could,
05:35
I know you don't like them.
05:36
But you got to admit, that was unbelievable.
05:39
Let's pray.
05:39
We'll see you next time.
