00:002 Thessalonians chapter 1

00:04From Paul, Silas, and Timothy

00:08To the people of the church in Thessalonica

00:11who belong to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

00:15May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

00:19give you grace and peace

00:21The Judgment at Christ's Coming

00:24Our friends, we must thank God at all times for you.

00:28It is right for us to do so

00:31because your faith is growing so much

00:34and the love each of you has for the others is becoming greater.

00:39That is why we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God.

00:44We boast about the way you continue to endure

00:47and believe through all the persecutions and sufferings you are experiencing.

00:53All of this proves that God's judgment is just

00:56and as a result you will become worthy of His kingdom

01:00for which you are suffering.

01:03God will do what is right.

01:05He will bring suffering on those who make you suffer

01:08and He will give relief to you who suffer and to us as well.

01:14He will do this when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven

01:17with His mighty angels

01:19with a flaming fire to punish those who reject God

01:23and who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus.

01:29They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction

01:32separated from the presence of the Lord

01:35and from His glorious might

01:37when He comes on that day

01:39to receive glory from all His people

01:42and honor from all who believe.

01:44You too will be among them

01:47because you have believed the message that we told you.

01:51That is why we always pray for you.

01:53We ask our God to make you worthy

01:55of the life He has called you to live.

01:59May He fulfill by His power

02:01all your desire for goodness

02:03and complete your work of faith.

02:06In this way,

02:07the name of our Lord Jesus

02:08will receive glory from you

02:10and you from Him

02:12by the grace of our God

02:14and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

02:20Chapter 2

02:21The Wicked One

02:23Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

02:27and our being gathered together to be with Him,

02:30I beg you, my friends,

02:32not to be so easily confused in your thinking

02:35or upset by the claim

02:37that the day of the Lord has come.

02:39Perhaps it is thought that we said this

02:42while prophesying or preaching

02:44or that we wrote it in a letter.

02:47Do not let anyone deceive you in any way.

02:51For the day will not come

02:52until the final rebellion takes place

02:55and the wicked one appears

02:57who is destined to hell.

03:00He will oppose every so-called God

03:03or object of worship

03:04and will put Himself above them all.

03:07He will even go in

03:09and sit down in God's temple

03:11and claim to be God.

03:13Don't you remember?

03:15I told you all this while I was with you.

03:18Yet there is something that keeps this

03:20from happening now.

03:21And you know what it is.

03:23At the proper time then,

03:25the wicked one will appear.

03:27The mysterious wickedness is already at work.

03:31But what is going to happen

03:33will not happen

03:34until the one who holds it back

03:36is taken out of the way.

03:38Then the wicked one will be revealed.

03:41But when the Lord Jesus comes,

03:44He will kill him

03:45with the breath from His mouth

03:47and destroy him

03:48with His dazzling presence.

03:50The wicked one will come

03:52with the power of Satan

03:53and perform all kinds of

03:55false miracles and wonders

03:57and use every kind

03:59of wicked deceit

04:00on those who will perish.

04:03They will perish

04:03because they did not welcome

04:05and love the truth

04:06so as to be saved.

04:08And so God sends the power of error

04:10to work in them

04:12so that they believe

04:13what is false.

04:15The result is

04:16that all who have not believed the truth

04:19but have taken pleasure in sin

04:21will be condemned.

04:23You are chosen for salvation.

04:26We must thank God

04:28at all times for you friends

04:30you whom the Lord loves

04:32for God chose you

04:33as the first

04:34to be saved

04:35by the Spirit's power

04:37to make you

04:38His holy people

04:39and by your faith

04:41in the truth.

04:42God called you to this

04:44through the good news

04:45we preached to you.

04:47He called you

04:47to possess your share

04:49of the glory

04:49of our Lord Jesus Christ.

04:52So then our friends

04:53stand firm

04:55and hold on

04:56to those truths

04:57which we taught you

04:58both in our preaching

05:00and in our letter.

05:02May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself

05:04and God our Father

05:06who loved us

05:07and in His grace

05:08gave us

05:09unfailing courage

05:11and a firm hope

05:12encourage you

05:14and strengthen you

05:15to always do

05:17and say what is good.

05:18Chapter 3

05:23Pray for us

05:25Finally our friends

05:27pray for us

05:28that the Lord's message

05:29may continue

05:30to spread rapidly

05:31and be received

05:33with honor

05:34just as it was

05:35among you.

05:37Pray also

05:37that God

05:38will rescue us

05:39from wicked

05:40and evil people

05:41for not everyone

05:42believes the message

05:44but the Lord

05:45is faithful

05:46and He will

05:47strengthen you

05:48and keep you safe

05:49from the evil one

05:50and the Lord

05:51gives us confidence

05:52in you

05:53and we are sure

05:55that you are doing

05:55and will continue

05:57to do what we tell you.

05:59May the Lord

05:59lead you into

06:00a greater understanding

06:02of God's love

06:03and the endurance

06:04that is given

06:05by Christ.

06:06The Obligation

06:08to Work

06:09Our friends

06:10we command you

06:12in the name

06:13of our Lord

06:13Jesus Christ

06:14to keep away

06:16from all believers

06:17who are living

06:17a lazy life

06:19and who do not

06:20follow the instructions

06:21that we gave them.

06:23You yourselves

06:24know very well

06:25that you should do

06:26just what we did.

06:28We were not lazy

06:29when we were with you.

06:30We did not accept

06:31anyone's support

06:32without paying for it.

06:34Instead

06:35we worked

06:36and toiled.

06:37We kept working

06:38day and night

06:39so as not to be

06:40an expense

06:41to any of you.

06:43We did this

06:44not because

06:44we do not have

06:45the right

06:46to demand our support.

06:48We did it

06:49to be an example

06:50for you to follow.

06:52While we were with you

06:53we used to tell you

06:54whoever refuses

06:56to work

06:56is not allowed

06:57to eat.

06:59We say this

07:00because

07:00we hear

07:01that there are

07:01some people

07:02among you

07:03who live lazy lives

07:04and who do nothing

07:06except meddle

07:07in other people's

07:08business.

07:09In the name

07:10of the Lord

07:11Jesus Christ

07:12we command

07:13these people

07:13and warn them

07:14to lead orderly lives

07:16and work

07:17to earn

07:18their own living.

07:20But you friends

07:21must not become

07:22tired of doing good.

07:24It may be

07:25that some there

07:26will not obey

07:27the message

07:27we send you

07:28in this letter.

07:30If so

07:30take note of them

07:32and have nothing

07:33to do with them

07:34so that they

07:35will be ashamed.

07:35but do not

07:37treat them

07:37as enemies

07:38instead

07:39warn them

07:40as believers.

07:42Final words

07:43May the Lord

07:45himself

07:45who is our

07:46source of peace

07:47give you peace

07:48at all times

07:49and in every way.

07:52The Lord

07:52be with you all.
