00:00At the start of the show, we talked about how Aaron Judge, to use the term, owns the Orioles.
00:05But overall, Aaron Judge, in his last 162 games, has sent the world into space.
00:11Joe, take it away and tell us about these numbers.
00:15And what a special effect there as Matt Stryker goes into space.
00:21That's timing, folks. That's professionalism.
00:24Take a look at these numbers here.
00:26162 games from last season into this season so far.
00:31A .366 batting average, a .492 OBP, a .773 slugging with 64 homers and 162 RBI.
00:40He scored 142 runs over that span.
00:44He has 210 hits and just for good measure, 12 stolen bases.
00:48I know Shohei Otani is the best player on the planet.
00:50And you add in the fact that he steals 50 bases.
00:53But man, Aaron Judge is right there with him.
00:56And it has been a spectacular run for him.
00:59The trouble is what's around him right now.
01:02And that, to me, is more disturbing.
01:04When you start to look at this Yankee lineup, Matt, I think.
01:06You're going to rain on this.
01:07How are you going to do this?
01:08Well, I'm such a mess man.
01:12I don't know.
01:12But it's not.
01:13I spent four hours yesterday with Joe Ranieri, Mr. Yankee, here on this network.
01:17And we watched the Yankee game together and in-game live.
01:20And his frustrations were palpable.
01:23And for the same reasons that mine would be if I was him.
01:25Because you have, you know, Trent Grisham, who's played well, but in a secondary role.
01:30You had Ben Rice playing well.
01:32Jazz Chisholm has seven home runs, but he's hitting a buck 81 on the year.
01:35Now he's on the I.L.
01:36Austin Wells is hitting 208, but he's got six home runs.
01:39But still, he's hitting 208.
01:40Anthony Volpe's hitting 233.
01:43Cody Bellinger is hitting under 200.
01:45I can go on and on.
01:47Jason Dominguez is hitting 223.
01:48The rest of his lineup is, it's not turning over.
01:52He came up yesterday with runners on scoring position, runners even on base once in the
01:59whole game yesterday.
01:59Just once.
02:00I get it.
02:00That's a problem.
02:01And I think that the Yankees right now have to be looking at two things.
02:04The back of the rotation is a real problem, and it's going to get exposed as the season
02:10goes on.
02:11And then the bottom half of this lineup, especially that other side of the infield on third and
02:15short, right?
02:16You've got to find some solution there.
02:18So the Yankees are going to be in the market to add more players.
02:21Now, I know you're going to get Jazz Chisholm back, and you think that's going to help.
02:24Okay.
02:25But they don't have enough of those guys, as you mentioned, that turn the lineup over.
02:29You know, this lineup doesn't have a Scott Brocious in it, like the old Yankees lineup
02:33for the 90s, right?
02:34Remember, he used to hit nine, but he used to turn that lineup over.
02:37He put the ball to play.
02:38Next thing you know, he's on.
02:39Next thing you know, it's a big inning.
02:41That's a problem.
02:41And the Anthony Volpe experiment, I think, is at a crossroads where if he doesn't start
02:45to hit soon, I think you're going to see challenge for that position at shortstop.
02:50And I think, unfortunately, that's just the nature of the beast of Major League Baseball.
02:55And it's not like they haven't given that kid enough time and preparation to be successful
03:00there.
03:00And it just hasn't happened for whatever reason.
03:03You know, I always thought Volpe was a nice prospect.
03:05I would not put him in the elite tier prospect ever.
03:08He just was not that guy for me.
03:09And at the Major League level, he just hasn't found, I guess, the best version of himself.
03:13But this is New York, and the time is ticking on him, Matt.
