A bribery arrest in Kanpur Dehat’s Sikandra Tehsil has triggered controversy after a viral video raised questions over the Anti-Corruption Team's operation. On a complaint by former village head Jaiprakash of Mubarakpur, the team arrested female accountant Vinita Yadav, allegedly while accepting a bribe of ₹4,000.
However, video footage surfaced showing Vinita washing her hands with water post-arrest to reveal the bribe-trap chemical — but the water remained clear, and no color appeared on her hands. This led tehsil staff to question the credibility of the action, calling it a conspiracy and claiming the evidence was unconvincing.
Despite the doubts, Anti-Corruption officials maintain that their operation was by the book and based on solid evidence. The incident has stirred debate within administrative circles, with an investigation now awaited to clarify whether it was a genuine case of bribery or a wrongful trap.
