00:00Let's see how markets in Toronto fared today.

00:06Canada's main stock index rose on Friday, following global market gains driven by optimism over potential US-China trade talks.

00:14Beijing responded positively to a US offer for negotiations regarding President Trump's steep tariffs,

00:20but emphasized the need for Washington to show sincerity and consider removing the tariffs.

00:26Despite recent economic contraction in the US during Trump's renewed term, investor sentiment improved,

00:31leading to a second consecutive week of gains for major US stock indices.

00:36As for the TSX, it was up 236 points by close and the venture was up 10.25.

00:42The Dow rose 564 points and the Nasdaq was up 316.

00:47As for the top gaining TSX stocks on the day, Willow Biosciences was up 100%,

00:57Gold Mountain Mining Corp rose 50%, and Albin Minerals gained 27%.

01:03But the stocks that saw the biggest drop were RTG Mining down 25%,

01:12Starco International gave up 15%, and Collibor Group was down 12%.
