Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Trump praised Elon Musk's DOGE work.

00:01Thank you, sir.

00:03Elon Musk said he'll be stepping back from his work with Doge a little bit

00:06and only get dedicated maybe a day or two or a week to it.

00:09How long would you like to see that continue,

00:11and how involved would you like to see it continue?

00:13Well, first of all, I can't speak more highly about any individual.

00:17He's an incredible guy. He's a brilliant guy.

00:19He's a wonderful person.

00:21I've seen him with his family.

00:23I've seen him with a lot of his children.

00:25He's got a lot of children.

00:26He treats them good.

00:28He loves his children.

00:31But he's a brilliant guy, and he was a tremendous help,

00:35both in the campaign and in what he's done with Doge.

00:40And, you know, we're talking about almost $200 billion and rising fast

00:46because many of the things that we were looking at

00:48are now being found out to be fact.

00:52It's terrible.

00:53I mean, the fraud, the waste, the abuse,

00:56everything that's happened is just terrible.

00:59So I also know that he was treated very unfairly by the,

01:04I guess you'd call it the public, by some of the public, not by all of it.

01:08But I say he makes an incredible car, makes everything he does is good.

01:11But they took it out on Tesla.

01:15And I just thought it was so unfair because he's trying to help the country.

01:19But he has helped the country.

01:21I also want him to make sure that he's going to be in great shape.

01:24And I know he is.

01:25I mean, he's going to be, he's going to do great.

01:27He loves the country.

01:28He didn't need to do this.

01:29He did it.

01:30And I told him, I said, you know, whenever you're ready,

01:34I'd like to keep him for a long time.

01:37But whenever you're ready, he's an exceptional guy.

01:39When you see those rockets go up and come back and land in the same gantry,

01:44nobody else can do that but this man.

01:47So he's just an incredible person.

01:49And he's a friend of mine.

01:50And he's a nice person, too.

01:51He's a very nice person.

01:52He really helped the country, saved us a lot of money.

01:55And I heard him say that he'll start easing, which is always,

01:59he was always at this time going to ease out.

02:02And when he goes back to Tesla, that'll be taken care of.

02:06It was just, it's artificial.

02:07These were sick people that thought they were doing something.

02:11He's really, he's a great patriot.

02:14And he should, really, it should be, it shouldn't be the way.

02:18That should never have happened to him.

02:20And I will tell you right now, he makes a great product.

02:23He makes a great product.

02:25It's a great car.

02:26It's great everything.

02:27Starlink is great.

02:28What he does is good.

02:29He's doing medical things that are amazing.

02:33And we have to, at some point, let him go and do that.

02:37And we expect him to be doing it about this time.
