Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump discussed Elon Musk's next steps.
Transcript
00:00Many of the Doge people, Elon, are staying behind, too, so they're not leaving.
00:05And Elon's really not leaving. He's going to be back and forth, I think.
00:09I have a feeling. It's his baby, and I think he's going to be doing a lot of things.
00:13But Elon's service to America has been, without comparison in modern history,
00:18he's already running one of the most innovative car companies in the world.
00:22You look at his factories and compare them with some of the old factories we have,
00:26and it's a big difference.
00:27It's the most successful space company in, I guess, in history, you would have to say,
00:32the largest free speech platform on the Internet, etc.
00:36Yet, Elon, willingly, with all of the success, he willingly accepted the outrageous abuse and slander and lies and attacks
00:44because he does love our country. I know that very much. He loves our country.
00:50He comes from another country, a country that's going through trials and tribulations, I would say.
00:56But he's all about the USA, and Americans owe him a great debt of gratitude.
01:03So I just want to thank Elon for his time as a special government employee.
01:08Can you imagine? They call him an employee.
01:10But it's a special government employee.
01:13And for coming and helping us, and he really has changed the mindset of a lot of people.
01:18A lot of people thought, you know, maybe we'll cut 1 percent or 2 percent or 3 percent.
01:23Then they said, well, we can cut a lot more than that, and we're going to do it very surgically.
01:27We're going to continue on the march.
01:30We're making America great again.
01:32When I was in Saudi Arabia, we were in, as you know, three really great countries, predominantly the three.
01:42Qatar was great.
01:44UAE was great.
01:45Saudi Arabia, incredible.
01:47What, like, such an incredible experience to be in those three countries.
01:51But the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, and I must tell you, the leaders, the great leaders of the other two that we just mentioned,
02:00they all said the same thing, that the United States is the hottest country right now anywhere in the world.
02:06And six months ago, we thought it was dead.
02:08It was like a dead country.
02:09And it would have been a dead country if we didn't have the right result on November 5th.
02:13There would have been a horrible, horrible situation was going on with the borders, with transgender for everyone,
02:21men playing in women's sports, and so much more.
02:25But they were saying, the hottest country anywhere in the world.
02:28And then I played that little clip, because that was one person who was respected, or two people,
02:34because Joe was in that one, too.
02:35Joe was a good man.
02:36But that was one group of people saying something about the success of what we've done over the last four months.
02:44They cannot believe it.
02:45In the one case, they said they've never seen anything like it as long as they've been doing what they've been doing.
02:49They've been doing it for a long time.
