00:00Vicki Barbalak is here. Good morning to you.
00:16Good morning, Philadelphia. I always wanted to say that.
00:20Usually you have to like stand there.
00:23It's too early for all that.
00:25But it's great to be here. What a beautiful day.
00:27Okay. Now, where are you from?
00:30I was born in Illinois, but left there when I was one because I didn't like it.
00:33And I've lived in California ever since.
00:36Really?
00:36I live in Oceanside by Camp Pendleton Marine Base.
00:38That's why I'm so happy to be here at the birthplace of the MC.
00:42Okay.
00:43Nice.
00:44And probably a lot of people know you from America's Got Talent.
00:48Yeah, that's it.
00:48How long did you last on the show?
00:51I got it to like six in the finals.
00:53Okay.
00:53What happened?
00:54And then I put on my bathing suit.
00:56and then I was asked to leave.
00:59I thought that was a good idea.
01:01You took a risk.
01:02It was a risk and it was a bad one.
01:03I appreciate it.
01:04But, you know, it doesn't matter because like getting to the sixth, I mean, like still 40 million eyes are on you.
01:09Yeah.
01:10Yeah.
01:10And I was like sitting in my trailer, you know, doing nothing.
01:13And then all of a sudden, boom, you know, after 20 years and doing stand-up now, you know, it's just a whole different game.
01:19So everyone knows you.
01:20Now, who was like your support?
01:23Was Howie your support?
01:24Howie was great, but truly Simon was the man.
01:27I mean, he...
01:27Really?
01:28Yeah.
01:28He just, he really was supportive from the very beginning.
01:30And now, I mean, and now I'm like on Simon's team now.
01:34I mean, so he's doing some stuff for me that I can't believe.
01:37I mean, that's private.
01:39But anyway, but also, I don't want to, his wife is so touchy.
01:47So it's great, but he's come through.
01:49Now, this is your first time on the show.
01:51We know really very little about you other than you were on American's Got Talent.
01:56Are you married?
01:56I'm currently married to my favorite husband so far.
01:59Yeah.
02:00He's a piano player at the comedy store.
02:02Oh, really?
02:03So he's a real fun guy.
02:04So it's nice that you broke out of your own realm and found somebody who does something different.
02:09Yeah.
02:10A piano player at a comedy store.
02:11Yeah.
02:12Because you could have gone with waiter.
02:13Yeah, I'm still, yeah, and I did that before.
02:15And a Walmart greeter.
02:16And he had me at hello.
02:17He was one of my favorite husbands as well.
02:19I just couldn't hold on.
02:20You can't hold on to a Walmart man.
02:22Why not?
02:22It's like the rock and roll song.
02:24You know, they meet a lot of people.
02:27Hello, hello.
02:28Oh, I like her.
02:29And then he was gone.
02:33Children?
02:34I got two daughters, and one of them is married to this Marine over here.
02:38Okay.
02:38It's why we're here.
02:39I thought he was your bodyguard.
02:40I know.
02:41He looks like security.
02:42He's a large man.
02:42He's like, I need security, but yeah.
02:45And let me get this straight.
02:46He came on this trip with you because he wants to see a house.
02:50Basically.
02:51Exactly.
02:51The house where the Marines were born and the tavern, a certain tavern.
02:54Oh, yeah, there's a tavern as well.
02:56Super cool.
02:57I love Philadelphia.
02:58I was here once.
02:59Really?
03:00Yeah, my daughter was touring Penn.
03:01This is how trailer we are.
03:02We're on a tour of Penn because the one is real smart at math.
03:06So she took me with her, and we went to these East Coast fancy colleges.
03:11We're at Penn.
03:12We're walking around.
03:12Lily goes, what's all the ivy on the buildings for, Mom?
03:15I go, I don't know.
03:16She goes, you think it's an ivy school?
03:17I go, maybe it is ivy league school.
03:20That's how trailer we are.
03:21I just realized.
03:25Are you wearing wine quirks as earrings?
03:26Yes, I am.
03:27That's awesome.
03:28How did you see underneath that?
03:29That's awesome.
03:29They're on my website, vickibarbleatcomedy.com.
03:32My neighbor, Carol, who is on this show in the curlers, she makes these hand paints,
03:36and she certainly can use the money.
03:38That's intense.
03:40Was she in a trailer also?
03:41She lives around the corner from me in my trailer park, yeah.
03:43Do you really live in a trailer park?
03:45John, do I not look like I live in a trailer park?
03:47She's wearing pink camo, John.
03:49She's wearing pink camo.
03:50That does say trailer park.
03:51It was on my house, on the show America's Got Talent, they came out and filmed at my
03:56house a few times, with my neighbors and everything, and my friends, and people go,
04:00is that really, you're a trailer park?
04:02I'm like, do you think they built a trailer park to be on America's Got Talent?
04:06Of course it's my trailer park.
04:07I'm very proud of it.
04:08I'll give you an idea what an idiot I am.
04:10Down at the Jersey Shore, if you're going to get a house at the Jersey Shore, you go down
04:14there in the winter, looking for some place to rent or buy, whatever.
04:17You're going to do.
04:18And this is, in Strathmore, there's this big trailer park, right?
04:22Well, in the winter, nobody's there.
04:24It's for people who are literally traveling with trailers, and they'll park there.
04:28And as I'm going by, I turn to my wife, and I go, oh, look, they tore down the trailer
04:32park.
04:35They tore it down.
04:36You idiot.
04:38America's Got Talent, they're British producers, so they kept telling me to bring my house to
04:42Hollywood.
04:42Would you bring your house to Hollywood?
04:44I'm like, it's a double one.
04:45I sent him a photograph.
04:47Oh, okay.
04:48And the next week, I swear to God, could you bring your house?
04:51I'm like, I sent you the picture.
04:53I have sewage connected.
04:57Could you bring a small version of your house then?
05:03Half of your house.
05:04It's on bricks right now.
05:05I could bring you a tire.
05:07I really, that would be all right.
05:09Could you bring some tires?
05:11So what do you like, what do you like doing beyond comedy?
05:14What else is like a major thing in your life?
05:17Drinking.
05:18Okay.
05:19Hence the cork earrings.
05:21Drinking, I like, I kayak.
05:23I'm a kayaker.
05:23You're a kayaker.
05:24Yeah.
05:24All right.
05:25Yeah.
05:25All right.
05:26In, in, in.
05:27I kayak anywhere I can go.
05:29Really?
05:29Now, in the tour, I'll get to kayak other places here, like rivers, but at home, I kayak
05:34in the ocean.
05:34Okay.
05:35We're in the harbor, and I just kayak.
05:36You're serious?
05:37Yeah.
05:37You scream kayaker.
05:38I have a big kayak.
05:39Can you imagine the draw?
05:43My kayak is a big old kayak.
05:46Pardon me for saying this, but I have to just explain this to people.
05:49If you've never seen Vicky on TV, she's a woman of size.
05:52I'm a woman of stature.
05:53All right.
05:54That's, I'd say more curvy, though.
05:56Curvy.
05:56That's right.
05:57Oh, yeah.
05:57You like that?
05:58Oh, yeah.
05:58That's right.
05:58It's not Bruce, Bruce in here.
05:59I'm bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy.
06:00What's that?
06:00It's not Bruce, Bruce in here.
06:01No, it's not Bruce, Bruce.
06:02No.
06:03I can still fit in the airline seat without extension.
06:06All right.
06:06Okay.
06:07That is my limit, actually.
06:09That's it?
06:10That's my only thing.
06:12Do you ever get crap from people when they see you coming into the aisle and they're just
06:15going like, oh, no, not center.
06:16Not center seat.
06:17What I do is, I just, and I recommend this to everyone, but just your listeners and don't
06:23tell anyone else.
06:24When you're on Southwest, you sit there with the plane seat next to you, right?
06:27First of all, you can wear the masks.
06:29Okay, that's an easy one.
06:31But the other one is, you just bang on the seat next to you like, sit here!
06:34Sit here!
06:35Sit here!
06:36Sit here!
06:36Sit here!
06:38That's what I do.
06:40If being fat isn't enough, come on!
06:42Sit here!
06:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
