00:00All right, trying to help out Connor this morning on the Second Date Update.
00:03He is very confused, and you can kind of tell he's bummed out.
00:06Well, yeah, because he said, you know, it's hard as a single parent, you know, to date and find the time
00:12and then, you know, find the right person that you can kind of click with.
00:15But these guys got met up by mutual friends.
00:17I asked if they talked about anything they shouldn't have been talking about.
00:20He's like, no, we talked about our kids.
00:22We talked about the restaurant.
00:23He's like, we had a lot in common and even talked about going out again.
00:26Yeah, they did.
00:27And the big thing they have in common is they both have kids.
00:29He has a 9-year-old son.
00:30She has an 11-year-old daughter.
00:32We actually have Melissa on the phone.
00:34Kevin was able to track her down.
00:35She's agreed to talk to us, so let's talk to her.
00:37Melissa, are you there?
00:38Hi.
00:39Hey, Melissa.
00:40Thanks for agreeing to come on.
00:41You just heard us talking a little bit right there about your guys' date, your date with Connor.
00:46You know, I'll just tell you this.
00:47The guy sounds really nice and sounds like someone who's really into you,
00:52but is very confused on why he hasn't heard from you about a second date.
00:57I don't think that's going to happen.
00:59I'm not really interested in a second date.
01:01All right.
01:01So based on the date that you had, what got you to this point?
01:06I guess I would say our parenting styles just don't align.
01:11Okay.
01:12Can you tell me where that is?
01:14Like how it doesn't align?
01:16Okay.
01:16So my daughter is two years older than his son.
01:20Okay.
01:21She's 11.
01:22He's nine.
01:23And he just seems to let his son explore and do whatever he wants from, you know,
01:31TikTok to movies that I think are really inappropriate.
01:35It just, it just really turned me off.
01:38And I just don't think we're on the same page.
01:41Oh, so you guys, he, he had mentioned a couple of things that maybe his son had seen that you were not cool with.
01:47Yeah.
01:47Like he saw like his nine-year-old saw the new, like John Wick.
01:51I don't know.
01:52I don't watch those movies, some movie like that.
01:55And I was just like, he's way too young, way too young, in my opinion, to be on TikTok.
02:01Like I will not let my daughter go near it, you know, between the half-naked women and the twerking and all of those things.
02:11Like, I just don't think it would be a healthy environment for my daughter.
02:16So it's just, it's just not a fit.
02:18But I will agree with you that the new John Wick is pretty brutal.
02:22That is, that is a.
02:23I've never seen it.
02:24Yeah.
02:24It's, it's, it's pretty action-packed and it's, there's a lot of, there's a lot, there's a lot of violence going on in it.
02:29Let's just put it that way.
02:30Yeah, but so do the video games the kids play these days.
02:33True.
02:34Very true.
02:35And so when you heard this, this was just like, hey, there's no way I'd let my daughter be around this.
02:40Or what were you worried about?
02:41Yeah, I just don't think he's responsible with the way he's raising his child.
02:47And that's just, that's just a deal breaker for me.
02:49All right.
02:50Okay.
02:50Gotcha.
02:51Well, Melissa, I'll tell you this.
02:52Connor is on the phone with us as well.
02:55And he got to hear what she had to say of why you're not getting back to him.
02:59Connor?
03:00Hey, Melissa.
03:01How are you?
03:03Hi.
03:03How are you?
03:04I get what you're saying.
03:06But believe me, your 11-year-old has seen TikTok.
03:09It may not be on your phone or your iPad.
03:11But, you know, you think that, you know, she's blind to that and ignorant to it.
03:15And, I mean, I'd rather him see these things with me so that he can ask those questions and I can properly guide him.
03:22I mean, it's 2023.
03:23I don't even understand, like, how you couldn't want to expose your child to these things.
03:29It's going to happen, whether you want it or not.
03:32I mean, I know for sure my daughter has not seen TikTok, so.
03:37Like I said, I think you're just turning a blind eye and sheltering this child that once they do get exposed to it, it's going to be a system shock to them.
03:44I mean, we just don't think the same.
03:51That's all.
03:52Yeah, obviously.
03:53Honestly, if you're so worried about having morals and raising your child right, maybe you should teach her to be a little bit more respectful to other human beings and other, you know, and learn to reply to somebody and not just ghost them.
04:07I mean, we went on one date.
04:10We went on one date.
04:11So now you're going to come at me on my character of not responding?
04:15I mean, seriously.
04:16I don't owe you anything.
04:19Not even a response?
04:20I hope that teaches your daughter.
04:22I really don't.
04:23I mean, it was, like I said, it was one date.
04:25I mean, sure.
04:26Could I have responded?
04:28Sure.
04:29I mean, I was busy and it wasn't a priority.
04:32I think if you knew how to raise your child right, you would have gotten a response.
04:37Oh, okay.
04:38Well, my kid at least knows how to interact like a human.
04:41Oh, okay.
04:42All right.
04:43Well, I think everything that needs to be said has been said, maybe a little bit more.
04:47Sure.
04:48I'm guessing, Melissa, since you didn't respond and you still have really no interest here
04:52of seeing Connor again, I don't think you're wanting to go on another date, right?
04:57No.
04:58Okay.
04:58Definitely not.
04:59And Connor, you now know where she stands, so I'm guessing you're not interested either?
05:03No.
05:04I don't need to tiptoe through the tools for anybody.
05:06Okay.
05:06All right.
05:07Well, I appreciate you both coming on.
05:09It is what it is.
05:10And I wish you both luck.
05:13Yeah.
05:13Thanks, guys.
05:14Thanks.
05:14All right.
05:14Take care.
05:15I mean, it got a little nasty there at the end, but the thing is, she does have a point
05:20in the fact that, hey, if you guys don't, you raise your kid one way and the other person
05:23raises their kid one way, it's not going to go well together.
05:26No, it's not.
05:27Yeah.
05:27Especially when you're not even coming to a middle ground in your first phone call.
05:32So, but I mean, he kind of had a point though.
05:34If she's wanting to raise her child a certain way, I mean, she should have, she should have
05:38done the right thing.
05:39Well, that's what I want to hear right now.
05:42What do you have to say?
05:43Whose side are you on with this?
05:44800-992-1099, 800-992-1099.
