00:04I kind of get both sides of things.

00:06I know she's not the only girl that does this.

00:12Here's your 7.15 second date update for today.

00:14Trying to help out Jill this morning on the 7.15 second date update.

00:18Jarlana Kavan here, a couple things that stood out.

00:19She said that the date went really well, but she's old-fashioned and she wants him to reach out first

00:25because she has not heard from him since the date,

00:27which is kind of ironic since we are reaching out to him.

00:30Yeah, that is a little different.

00:32But she said they had a great date, went to downtown St. Pete,

00:35said they were FaceTiming before they met on the date and texting.

00:39So it seems like they've been kind of talking back and forth for a couple of weeks.

00:42That's what she said, yeah.

00:43But she doesn't know why he's not texting her back.

00:45All right, so we haven't talked since the date.

00:47We're going to try to call Thomas and see if we can get him on the phone.

01:19but we do something called a 7.15 second date update,

01:23and this would be that time.

01:25And we wanted to see if we could talk to you real quick.

01:27A couple questions.

01:30Is it okay if we talk to you on the air for a second?

01:35Okay, and again, I'll explain what we're doing.

01:36We were going to ask you about a girl that's really, really into you

01:39and actually had nothing but nice things to say about you.

01:42Would that be okay?

01:43I like that, yeah.

01:44Okay, cool.

01:45Well, listen, man, we heard from Jill,

01:47and Jill told us that you guys had been talking for a couple weeks.

01:51You guys even had some FaceTime phone calls back and forth,

01:54and then you guys decided to go out in downtown St. Pete.

01:58You went to Bella Brava.

01:59She said you guys had some nice glasses of wine.

02:02It was a great date.

02:03It was a beautiful night.

02:04She said you were a gentleman.

02:06She said she felt like you really had your life together

02:10when it came to job and family and all that,

02:12and now she is kind of bummed because you have not reached out since the date,

02:17and she's trying to figure out what happened.

02:20Okay, and that's what this is about.

02:22Well, I mean, that's an easy one, honestly.

02:24The date was awful.

02:26I'm trying to figure out why you guys would be so far apart on this.

02:33It was really, really terrible.

02:36Well, okay, we're having dinner, and she has her friend call her

02:43to check up on her in the middle of the date,

02:46and so all of a sudden she gets this call,

02:48and she's just on the phone with her friend for a while,

02:51while we're just sitting there,

02:53and they're just talking about me in front of me.

02:56Wow.

02:57That's awkward.

02:58He's fine.

03:01No, it's going to be okay.

03:05It was just really bizarre.

03:08Did you guys talk about it afterwards, though, after she hung up?

03:12No, I mean, I was just so weirded out.

03:14They literally sat there talking about whether I was a serial killer

03:17or something in front of me.

03:19I mean, we had been talking for two weeks.

03:21We were FaceTiming.

03:22She knew me all too well at that point,

03:24and not only that, we met at a restaurant of her choosing.

03:28I don't even understand what the confusion was.

03:31She knew me at this point.

03:33Thomas, let me ask you a question.

03:34Now, you know that she's not the only girl that does this.

03:36We've heard stories about this, girls checking up on their friends.

03:39You never know on a first date, that type of thing.

03:42So, I mean, it's not necessarily that crazy of a thing.

03:45I mean, do you really think you should be that offended by it?

03:48I mean, I just thought we were past that.

03:50I mean, yeah, I'm a nice guy.

03:52I think she knew that about me,

03:53and it just seemed really immature that she has to do this whole checkup in the middle.

04:03Now, talking about you in front of you, that would be awkward for you.

04:17Well, I mean, the way I see it is there's nothing wrong with a woman wanting to protect herself

04:25on a date where she's meeting someone in person for the first time.

04:30I really don't feel like it's that big of a deal.

04:33You didn't think that was weird?

04:34We were talking for two weeks.

04:35We were FaceTiming, talking all the time.

04:38I mean, it just seemed immature to me the way you were doing it.

04:41It was a long call, too.

04:43And where does it end?

04:44That was all I was thinking as you were talking to them.

04:46Like, you know, are you going to have to have checkups like every time we would go anywhere

04:51or if we went on vacation or it's just like what you're going to do all the time?

04:56I think you're completely overreacting.

05:00I can apologize for maybe doing it right in front of you and like it being a long call,

05:04but I'm not going to apologize for having my friend check up on me.

05:08It just seemed rude to me to be talking about me like that right in front of me.

05:12You know, Thomas, I get that, that in front of you,

05:14that would be kind of odd and awkward and maybe you could be felt rude to you.

05:19But you got to respect a young woman trying to protect herself, right?

05:24You get that.

05:25Yeah.

05:25What about like a quick text?

05:27But instead it had to be this big interview in front of me,

05:30how things are, whether I'm a murderer or whatever.

05:34And it just seems weird.

05:38I don't know what to tell you.

05:39If you don't know what it's like to be a woman, then like.

05:42Again, you could have just a quick little text, even when you felt safe,

05:46you could have just texted her.

05:47I'm fine.

05:48He's not a killer or something.

05:50Yeah.

05:52That would actually be more alarming text.

05:54I feel like if that's the standard.

05:58Let me ask you this, Thomas.

06:01I mean, Jill obviously trusts you now.

06:03She's reaching out to us.

06:04Yes.

06:05Awkward, mishap, misstep could have been handled differently.

06:07But if you had a good time, man, I mean,

06:09is this really going to be a deal breaker for you?

06:11I think so.

06:12I think it just seemed very immature to me the way she handled it.

06:15And I just didn't like what that says about her and how she's going to handle things in the future.

06:19It just doesn't make me feel good about it.

06:25I totally respect you trying to protect yourself and keep yourself safe.

06:30I think this Thomas felt a little awkward that it happened right in front of him.
