00:00The People's Action Party unveiled its candidates for Nisun GRC earlier today.

00:05Leading the five-member team is Home Affairs and Law Minister Kei Shamugam,

00:09who introduced the four fresh faces at a press briefing held here at the party's Chongfang Brunch.

00:15Among them are Jackson Lam and Lee Hui-ing.

00:18According to Minister Shamugam, both of these candidates have a combined experience

00:23of more than 30 years in handling municipal matters.

00:26Two of them combined have nearly as much experience in Nisun as I have.

00:33As I said, nearly 30 years between the two of them and they're still very young.

00:37Let's hear more from these two candidates.

00:48I started volunteering when I was 19 years old.

00:51I met Dr Lee Hui-ing at a house visit where she inspired me to continue serving until now.

00:55It's been more than 15 years.

00:57So that has been a very, very meaningful journey.

01:00So I may be new to politics, a new face to politics, but I'm not new to Nisun, not new to the community.

01:06Whenever they encounter any issues, they'll come to me.

01:08Even if I'm walking on the streets or having my lunch at the hawkers or coffee shop,

01:14they'll come up to me and say hi.

01:15My grandma, as always, told me, if you want to do something, do it with a heart.

01:21So in Hokkien, let's talk to me again, it's time to go.

01:25So I've always been using this line to serve with a heart in Nisun.

01:28For our seniors, you will notice that Nisun is special because we have a good number of older estates

01:37and newer estates in Nisun.

01:39We hope to bring in more activities, engage them, stay active to stay healthy.

01:44For the new BTO estates, we have a lot more young families in the area.

01:48Whether you have sufficient childcare facilities and good transport connectivity,

01:51that will be one of the key issues that we will be looking at.

01:54Because of my background, I want to speak up more for elderly.

01:57Second, I want to do more for troubled youth.

02:00Third, as a young business older myself, I want to speak up for SMEs

02:03because I understand the challenges and the issues that I'm facing now.

02:10I'm tall, but I don't play the basketball.

02:13But contrary to popular belief, I actually used to play the violin and cello in school.

02:17So that has been something that I really enjoyed when I was in school.

02:20I think all of us know that Ministers started gyming a couple of years ago.

02:23It's because of him I started gyming as well.

02:26Maybe one day, I'll do the physical challenge with him.
