A 33-year-old engineer, Mohit Yadav, died by suicide in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly after being harassed by his wife and in-laws. Before taking the extreme step, Yadav recorded a video detailing the alleged harassment, which has now come to light.
In the video, Mohit claimed he was mentally exhausted due to his wife's behavior and accused her of filing false cases against him. “If I don’t get justice even after death, throw my ashes in the drain,” he said.
Mohit was found hanging in his hotel room near Etawah railway station on Thursday evening after hotel staff grew suspicious when he didn’t come out all day.
He worked as a field engineer in a cement company and had married his long-time girlfriend(he had been in love for 7 years), Priya, in 2023. In the video, Mohit alleged that his wife had threatened to implicate his family in a dowry case if he didn’t transfer his house and property to her name. He also accused her father, Manoj Kumar, of lodging a false complaint and claimed that her brother had threatened to kill him.
Etawah police have launched an investigation based on the video and a complaint filed by Yadav’s family.
