Punjab Kings won a rain-shortened encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium by five wickets on April 18. Put to bat first in a match reduced to 14 overs per side, RCB openers Virat Kohli (1) and Phil Salt (4) were out cheaply as Arshdeep Singh (2/23) took both wickets to become PBKS' highest wicket-taker in the competition. Xavier Bartlett picked up the wicket of Liam Livingstone (4). Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11) produced a stunning spell against his former franchise, picking up Jitesh Sharma (2) and captain Rajat Patidar (23), to put half the RCB side into the pavilion. Marco Jansen also chipped in with two wickets (2/10), dismissing Krunal Pandya and Manoj Bhandage. Meanwhile, undeterred, Tim David took RCB out of a ditch, slamming his maiden IPL fifty in 26 balls, pushing his side's total to 95/9. Harpreet Brar also chipped in with two wickets for 25 runs. In reply, despite hiccups, Punjab Kings managed to reach the target (96/5) with 11 balls to spare. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a brisk start, but the latter fell for 13 (9) to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Josh Hazlewood soon snared up Priyansh Arya for 16 (11), after which Josh Inglis and Shreyas Iyer added 20 runs. Josh Hazlewood struck again, getting rid of Shreyas Iyer (7 off 10) and Josh Inglis (14 off 17) in quick succession. Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis took Punjab Kings past the finish line with 11 balls remaining. Bhuveshwar Kumar (2/26) and Josh Hazlewood (3/14) were the only wicket-takers for RCB
