RCB’s Mayank Agarwal lauded Jitesh Sharma’s unbeaten 85, calling it pivotal in their record 228-run chase against LSG that sealed their place in Qualifier 1 — RCB’s highest-ever successful chase in IPL history.
00:00Well, I think very important game for us, you know, and it was a good wicket, but I thought our bowlers bowled well.
00:08We could have been a little more lucky, we would have had a few edges come our way, but I thought Rishabh batted exceedingly, exceedingly well for him to put on a show like that was phenomenal.
00:18I thought, terrific batting from him. And then, the way we started in the power play really gave us the belief in the dugout.
00:28You know, when you're chasing a big target like that, to get a good start is crucial and Phil and Virat have done just exactly that and not in this game, they did that in the last game as well.
00:40So, we just had to stay calm, we had to calculate our way in between and then finish strong and like everybody saw, Jitesh did what he did was spectacular.
00:58Like, when Jitesh came in, what did you do speak about and was there any concern at that point of time?
01:07See, very honestly, I think it was, we needed 90 odd in seven overs and we had a conversation saying that, you know, the fast bowlers, the wicket is good to playing fast bowling and they have one over of the Jitesh.
01:20So, if we can be calculative around that, it will be good. That was just a little bit of conversation that we had but seeing Jitesh in his zone and when somebody is batting like that, I believe that you don't need to say much to a person who is batting in their zone.
01:38You know, if you can just give them the strike, allow them to do what they can do and, you know, we all saw what's the result of something like that.
01:47Yes, sir.
01:49Just after this match, it's already, you know, moving, you have to rush to something up and then you have to try to improve and recover and the next day of being successful.
02:01How difficult it is overall for a team and what makes it about today?
02:06I think difficulty is more on the head. This is the IPL and, you know, for somebody like me, I just think that, you know, we are used to it. We are professionals. We train for something like this.
02:20So, like you said, it's a new day today. We go about doing our stuff and start preparing for the next game. Yes, we did enjoy what happened but we know what's coming ahead for us.
02:34One last question. Any questions? No, enough? Thank you.
02:38On your personal level, you suddenly came into the team and now, how do you feel that, how do you prepare for that?
02:46Because there was a gap so long and suddenly you were to play and this was very important match. Are you satisfied with your performance today?
02:56Yeah, I think life has come full circle from not being picked in the IPL
03:02to having got a call to play for RCB and then when you know you're going to get a game and suddenly for two weeks you don't play a match.
03:11And then to just be part of the winning moments today in a crucial game like that just felt amazing.
03:20Very, very less words to describe something like that but just retrace the fact that if you keep working hard, if you keep doing your things and keep improving your game, then you will get to do it somewhere or the other.
