00:20I mean, one thing I don't miss after this post-COVID world or even during COVID world we're living in, I don't miss mall Santas.

00:28Well, this is kind of a dumb question, but are there supposed to be mall Santas?

01:07I think a classic crotchety could be coming, but the story is last year Santas throughout the country were losing gigs

01:14because it was the first Christmas of COVID-19 and Santa visits were mostly online or at a big giant distance.

01:24And with vaccines now available, obviously, kids are getting vaccinated.

01:30COVID-19 rates are lower than last holiday season, obviously.

01:34And people are trying to get back to normal.

01:36Although there is concern that we could see an uptick after Thanksgiving and all the get-togethers.

01:42Apparently, what's not getting back to normal, Santas are a lot harder to come by.

01:46Is there a statement in there from Forbes?

01:49Everyone is wanting to go back to tradition, says Mitch Allen, founder of HireSanta.com,

01:54which has a nationwide database of thousands of Santa clauses that can be booked for events.

01:59And he says our demand is up over 120% from pre-pandemic levels.

02:05There's a pent-up Santa demand, and there might be a shortage.

02:13He said that in the past year, around 700 of his Santas passed away because of COVID.
