00:40how expedia charged him $6,000 for one night at a holiday inn uh this is ridiculous this is a one

00:48night stay in wilmer minnesota you know this isn't uh this isn't vegas smachanski runs a business just

00:58outside of winnipeg he was headed to the minnesota town to meet with clients on monday he's used

01:04expedia dozens of times so he logged on to reserve a hotel for the next day expedia listed a room at

01:11the holiday inn for $208 a night two queen beds complimentary breakfast he was in a bit of a

01:18rush he made the purchase i've stayed there before so i just went ahead and booked didn't think

01:22anything of it but when he printed off the receipt he noticed he'd been charged more than $3,100 in

01:30what was listed as taxes and fees and $2,800 in what expedia called a property fee making his total

01:38bill for a one night stay at the holiday inn more than $6,000 i think a couple of us on the show have

01:45learned that lesson yeah don't use a third party site yeah just go right directly to the source

01:49always yeah like i i stayed in a room and the wi-fi didn't work and uh there's a bunch of issues going

01:57on and at the front desk they were like nope listen no problem yep there's an issue with that room

02:03the wi-fi doesn't make it all the way down there we'll switch it up oh wait you booked on the third

02:10party they don't like it when they when you do that no they don't and they give preference to

02:14the people who book directly with them huh uh i checked in save money but it's not worth it

02:20saving anything it's maybe like 20 bucks at the end of the day i used a third party site and i stayed in

02:27a closet so after that i said wasn't it a smoky closet it was a smoky closet i needed an air

02:34purifier i couldn't fit in the shower oh my god it was short yeah the oh my god yeah it was horrible

02:45i didn't know it was smoky it was a half yeah it was where like the staff went and smoked hi police

02:50this is lisa i'm trapped in a smoky closet with a shower that was made for tiny people

03:21definitely like i had to go i went to like williams sonoma and bought candles oh you had to try to

03:26so that like maybe 100 bucks you say booking through that site exactly four times that right just to

03:33make it smell okay the people come in to like bring her bill the next day or whatever she's got

03:38a construction hat on she's like i gotta fix this i got a guy coming in to knock that wall out

03:45make it suitable for goddamn people sorry dan what you're doing here is a nightmare
