Hongkong Post said on Wednesday it had suspended goods mail services by sea to the United States and will suspend its air mail postal service for items containing goods from April 27 due to "bullying" U.S. tariffs. - REUTERS

00:13In a statement, it warned that sending items to the U.S. could mean facing exorbitant and unreasonable fees

00:19because of what they called Washington's unreasonable and bullying acts.

00:24Hong Kong Post added that it would quote,

00:26definitely not collect any so-called tariffs on behalf of the U.S.

00:31It also cited the U.S. move to end the so-called de minimis exemption,

00:36which had allowed small packages to be sent free of import duties.

00:40Document-only mail will not be affected.

00:43Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China,

00:46faces the same tariffs as the rest of the country, according to a U.S. government notice.

00:50Once a free trading hub, Hong Kong lost its special U.S. status

00:54after China imposed a sweeping national security law in 2020.
