As the Scottish coastal town of Aberdeen awaited the visit of U.S President Donald Trump, who is opening his second golf course in the area, Joseph Delappe, an American artist, set up an apology desk to say sorry on behalf of his country. - REUTERS
00:00A memento and kind of a way to sort of cement, say I'm sorry, my apologies to you, enjoy your stay.
00:10This is my way of dealing with my frustration, my anxiety, my anger and embarrassment about President Trump and what he's doing and the kind of slide towards authoritarianism in the United States.
00:24And, you know, I love Scotland. I love the people. I've felt so welcome here. But I really feel bad. I really feel like, and it just kind of was this organic thing. It was like, oh, I should say I'm sorry.
00:37To be honest, I went over because I found it quite amusing that there was someone here with the US apologies desk.
00:42Actually listening to what Joseph was saying was pretty interesting. I'd sit on the same side of the fence in respect to how I feel about Trump. And it was a good chat with him.
00:53It was really special, actually, because we're visiting from the US, live in Ohio and American citizens. And as the artist said, like we don't apologize enough or we don't kind of reflect on what's happening with our country right now.
01:07And so bringing that to Scotland just feels really important.
