00:00I'm a mother of two. I started my career in the police force as a psychologist. I later
00:10spent seven years in the U.S. learning, working, growing, before coming home to Singapore 10
00:17years ago. I'm a professor at NTU. I teach and conduct research on marketing and sustainability.
00:24I study people, how they make decisions, what shapes their behaviours and how we can build
00:32a stronger, more caring community for the future. It helps me connect with young people, especially
00:39when I work with them on mental wellbeing or when I encourage them to think deeply, to
00:45care about their community and to build a Singapore that they believe in. I spend my life studying
00:51people, serving the community and raising my family here in Singapore. I'm ready to serve.
01:00Morning everyone. My name is David Niu, 47, happily married with a son. Some of you may know me
01:05as the chief who joins recruits on road marches together or the commando that jumps out of
01:10planes together with the soldiers. I knew I wanted to be in public service. Purpose, people
01:16who didn't have a great start in life like me. Because life is hard when you can't start
01:28well. People is about putting people first and building a relationship with them. Because
01:34people really don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. And third
01:39is the focus on simple practical things that we can do together with our residents here in
01:44Tempanese so that we can build a caring community together. So I ask for your support and I hope
01:50to have a chance to serve here in Tempanese.
