00:06as Rupert Amarim's makeshift side prepared for their crucial Europa League second leg

00:18and he made five changes from the team that drew to all in France on Thursday night.

00:22Altair Bayenda came in for his first Premier League appearance at the club and Harry Amas

00:27was handed his debut at left-back instead of perhaps with Dorsey.

00:30The other changes saw that Dillindal up in for Harry Poirier, Eriksen started instead of Casemiro

00:35and Xerxes came in for Hoyland.

00:38The truth is that United played reasonably well in the first half.

00:41Newcastle took the lead when Tornali finished from a fine move after being played through by Izzac.

00:47United had wasted a good chance to take the lead themselves when Xerxes failed to finish off a fine passing move.

00:53In that a drew level though, through Alejandro Garnaccio.

00:55One of their most improved players in recent weeks has worked hard but not always had that end product.

01:00He did have that today, a calm finish to draw United level and ensure that it was 1-1 at the break.

01:05After the half-time restart though, things took a turn for the worse.

01:10Not only did United lose Joshua Zertzi through what looked like a serious hamstring issue

01:15and could see him sidelined for the foreseeable future, if not the rest of the season.

01:19The floodgates opened at the back as well.

01:21In a catalogue of individual errors, none of the centre-backs covered themselves in much glory today.

01:25And Altair by India, who had played reasonably well, produced a fantastic double save to deny Isaac.

01:30He, you know, he made a huge mistake for the fourth goal where he tried to chip the ball out.

01:35Went straight to Jolenton, he headed it off.

01:37And Bruno Givaraj scored to make it 4-1.

01:40In terms of the second and the third, United were just too easily beaten at the back.

01:44Joe Badalo was poor to allow a crossing for the second goal.

01:47And for the third, the ball was given away high up the pitch.

01:49Lindelof and Eriksen parted like the Red Sea.

01:53Euro is nowhere to be found.

01:54It's very difficult to maybe blame too many individuals today just because so many of them were poor in general.

02:00United started well, like we said.

02:02There was some encouragement there.

02:03Harry Amash did reasonably well on his Premier League debut.

02:06Hard to tell that, you know, he's 18.

02:07He's the fourth youngest Man Utd player to ever start a Premier League match.

02:11So he's a positive.

02:13Kobe Meynou, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw as well featured from the bench.

02:16His first appearance in 133 days for Manchester United.

02:19But truth be told is that there was only one team that wanted to win this one.

02:23United's season will be defined by what happened to Old Trafford on Thursday night.

02:26The headline news is they prepared for that were a 4-1 defeat.

02:29And they look to have lost Joshua Ezzerzi as well.

02:32United will record their lowest ever Premier League finish this season.

02:35That seems a certainty.

02:36Yet they could still salvage it with qualification for the Champions League.
