Judge orders deported Maryland man to be returned to US but White House vows to fight on

A US judge ruled on April 4 that the Trump administration must return a Maryland man deported to El Salvador back to the United States within three days. The administration has maintained that the Salvadorian migrant was "a member of the MS-13 gang" responsible for heinous crimes in the country. 00:49Judge Zinnes granted the preliminary injunction and ordered that Kilmar Albrego Garcia be

00:54brought back to the United States by 1159 p.m. on Monday.

01:03She found that the government did not dispute that there was no legal basis whatsoever for

01:06his deportation.

01:09She found that the government's arguments that she was powerless to order him brought

01:13back to the United States were without legal merit.

01:17And she found that he was suffering irreparable harm with every day that goes by while he's

01:22separated from his family and while he's detained under such harsh conditions in the

01:26infamous Seacott prison.

01:28Plenty of tweets, plenty of White House press conferences, but no actual steps with the

01:34government of El Salvador to take it right, no actual steps to bring him back, and no

01:39actual steps to even communicate or provide documents to the lawyer who they sent into

01:42court to defend their actions.

01:54First of all, the error that you are referring to was a clerical error.

01:57It was an administrative error.

01:58The administration maintains the position that this individual who was deported to El

02:02Salvador and will not be returning to our country was a member of the brutal and vicious

02:08MS-13 gang.

02:10That is fact number one.

02:11Fact number two, we also have credible intelligence proving that this individual was involved

02:16in human trafficking.

02:17And fact number three, this individual was a member, actually a leader of the brutal

02:22MS-13 gang, which this president has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.

02:27Fact number four is that foreign terrorists do not have legal protections in the United

02:31States of America anymore, and it is within the president's executive authority and power

02:35to deport these heinous individuals from American communities.

02:39It is a promise he campaigned on.

02:40It is a promise he is keeping.

02:41The vice president said he was a convicted member of MS-13.

02:45What evidence is there to back that up?

02:48There's a lot of evidence.

02:49And the Department of Homeland Security and ICE have that evidence, and I saw it this

02:52morning.
