Bristolians react to HMV's new look: "I'm so happy it's open again!"

The HMV Shop in Broadmead, Bristol, reopened this week (April 3) following a grand refurbishment.  New signage had been added to the store with a new unique colour assigned to the Bristol store.  The top floor is now now home to the vinyl and CD collections and a cosy book shop corner with seating has also been added.  We asked customers what their thoughts are on the new look.

00:07It's much more my kind of thing. I'm well into retro t-shirts and all that.

00:13When I've got the money, I will definitely be going in there and picking up quite a bit of stuff, to be honest.

00:20I like it. I think it's funky. It's really cool. I'm so happy it's open again.

00:24Yeah, we've just gone back in because I had a voucher and I was like, we can buy things again.

00:28I like how the vinyls are behind the desk now.

00:31Yeah, there's so much more. The vinyls are way more important in it now.

00:58I think I've seen the evolution of HMV since it's gone through different hands

01:02and since people have started to buy vinyl and things like that.

01:06I guess I'm 52, so I still buy CDs.

01:09And I was a bit worried that the new refurb would have shrunk that.

01:11It doesn't seem to have done so much.

01:14Yeah, first thoughts, not as terrifying as I thought.

01:17They focus a lot on the merchandise, which I think is probably quite...

01:21That's where they get their profits from.

01:23So I was a bit worried it was going to be taken over by pretend Japanese toys and stuff.

01:27But it looks like they've kept the music upstairs relatively the same.

01:30I've got one point which I was going to actually say to them.

01:32I'm sure they must know about this already.

01:34If you go upstairs and have a look at the CD racks, the top rack...

01:37I mean, even for someone that's my height, it's quite hard to look at.

01:40And I think they probably need to address that for accessibility purposes.

01:43But in terms of new products and new CDs and stuff, I will still keep coming here, definitely.

01:48I think it's quite nice.

01:50As you walk in, you just feel welcome. You know where everything is.

01:57Do you have a favourite section of the store?

02:00I'm quite big on the Funko Pop, so I quite enjoy going and having a browse, seeing what's about there.
