00:00The government is taking steps to make essential goods more affordable, particularly rice as

00:05part of its ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden on consumers.

00:09According to the Palace, the Department of Agriculture has implemented a Lower Maximum

00:13Suggested Retail Price, or MSRP, for imported rice.

00:18The price adjustment reflects the continued decline in global rice prices and the government's

00:23initiatives to stabilize local rice costs.

00:26The Palace added that since the MSRP was enforced, it contributed to the slower inflation rate

00:32recorded in February.

00:34The government is also supporting low-income Filipinos through livelihood assistance programs

00:38such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, or DSWDs, Pantawid Pamilyang

00:44Pilipino Program, or 4Ps.

00:56The assistance package is expected to reach 35 percent by July 2024.
