00:00According to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, tech scams are decreasing in the first half of the year.
00:08This is because the scammers are now transferring their calls from texts because they are now being detected in texts.

00:21Angelique, we can see that the number of tech scams is decreasing while the number of scam calls is increasing in the first quarter of 2025.
00:30Based on the data from the GoGolok WhosCall app,
00:33a trusted firm of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center,
00:38the number of SMS scams is around 600,000 in the first quarter of 2025.
00:44This is lower by 68.83% compared to more than 2 million in the fourth quarter of 2024.
00:51From more than 200 scam calls in the fourth quarter of 2024,
00:55this number increased by 74.32% from more than 350,000 scam calls in the first quarter of 2025.
01:03According to the CICC Executive Director Undersecretary Alexander Ramos,
01:08there is a shift from texts to calls because they are now being detected and are now being blocked.
01:14Through calls, they can see that more people can be scammed.
01:18Aside from local, there are also international calls that are used here.
01:22Ramos explained that he does not use regular phone numbers but an instant messaging app.
01:27He uses pre-existing numbers before the SIM registration app that he sold, bought, or hacked.
01:34This is what the CICC is doing to increase the number of scams.
